So I love this remote. I can control my Vizio TV, Xbox One, Vizio sound bar, Apple TV and my AT&T U-verse cable receiver. So in order to program this remote you MUST have a computer. Once you have downloaded the remote application on your computer you can finally start programming your remote. For this you need the serial numbers from the devices that you want the remote to control. (FYI, this remote is not compatible with the PS4). From there you can add all the devices and also do a bunch more advanced things to customize the remote to your liking. Like I said I love this remote but it takes some time and patience to setup, also a lot of trial and error.

Similar to the 700 model, but with differences

The 700 model comes with its own rechargeable batteries, has a white (brighter) backlight and the writing on the 700 is bolder and easier to read. Two other differences is "logitech" isn't spelled out. Instead it simply says "logi" on the 665. The 700 has a glossier black compared to the dull black of the 665.
But my biggest gripe is the dull writing on the 665. It's so dark that it practically blends into the black coloring of the remote. The four main buttons at the top of the remote are so dark that the words can barely be seen even in bright light. The only advantage the 665 has over the 700 is the ability to support 10 devices instead of 8.

Good replacement for 650

I bought this to replace a 7yr old Harmony 650 which had some buttons going bad. The programming transferred easily and this one supports 2 more devices (I think). The buttons and the device are the same color which makes it a little more difficult to handle in low light compared to the 650.

Harmony - Still the Best Universal Around!

I have a strong affinity for my Harmony remotes, and it's unfortunate that they are no longer in production. The setup process is a breeze, and I've found that they tend to last for a good 5-8 years, even after suffering an occasional drop. The only time I've experienced any functional issues is when a button stops working. Despite this minor setback, I highly recommend these remotes if you can find them at a reasonable price.

After having previously followed a salesperson's recommendation for a much more expensive remote, which worked fine but ultimately any time I upgraded equipment or changed cable providers I had to have the specialists come out to reprogram the remote at $180 a pop. For about a fourth the cost of one reprogramming I got this Logitech remote which does exactly the same functions also with a color LCD screen. I've only had it for a few weeks so I can't speak to long-term reliability, but I wish I'd made this choice long ago.

This Harmony works great like all the other Harmony devices that I also own. The best feature is that it can support 10 devices. The only down side is that it is IR only so it does not work with Amazon Fire Cube.

Glitchy set up, but cool remote when it works

I have never used a "smart" universal remote but since updating the electronics in our living room, I had way too many remotes to keep up with and wanted to give it a try. The instructions state best to setup with a laptop in the same room. I tried this with a Lenovo laptop and had downloaded the desktop app. The app seemed to crash and freeze a lot. Basically I'd say 85% of the time while trying to set up. I then tried to Uninstall, Re-install, also tried the Repair program function as well. I also tried a different USB port and it did work slightly better/faster until finishing the sync process. Then glitched again. Got fed up, used my dad's HP desktop computer and it worked a lot better. Almost perfectly. As for the remote it seems to work sometimes and then it doesn't. It is a bit hard because I am using an HDMI switch as well. It is really neat that there is a "help" function right on remote that if one function doesn't work properly, you can press a button on the remote until it functions correctly. It asks yes or no questions for each thing. However it doesn't seem to save the settings? It can happen again. Also you can get the controller to "learn" functions between the original remote, app and cable. That seems to work well and is also awesome.
So if I can figure out how to get the remote working more consistently I would love it. Just not sure how to yet.

Hi Kris, Thank you for your purchase of this Harmony remote and sorry to see you're experiencing issues with the remote. If Help button resolves your issue then it can be addressed by changing some delays in the device settings. I'd request you to reach out to [email protected] with your Harmony login id and provide more information on the problems you're facing. We'll work with you to resolve it. Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, Peter, Harmony Team

We have a subwoofer, TV, Xbox One and cable box all setup with this remote... There are "quick setting" functions that you can program to hit one button and for example it will turn on the tv, change the subwoofer to the correct output and turn on the Xbox one... and then a single button to turn off all of those devices....
Wouldn't it be perfect if everything worked that smoothly?? Well it doesn't. The controller gets "confused?" or something because after the first couple times it stopped simultaneously turning everything on and would only turn on maybe 1 or 2 things out of the 4... and when I click the OFF button it does nothing... what a mess..
Now it does allow you to click on "TV" and click On or Off, and then hit the back button and go to XBox and click on and turn everything on and off one by one so it does the task for why I bought it in the first place BUT if you bought it for the easy access buttons or what it can actually be programmed to do that it is a pain in the butt and not worth it...

The Harmony proved adept at subbing for a bunch of remotes.
Once I had hunted down the product numbers for my devices, I just had to connect the remote to my computer and go to the Harmony site. In seconds it was programmed.
Couple of reservations: I can go from live tv to Netflix, not from Netfilix to live TV.
Could also use a better manual explaining functions and how to access them (but, then, what else is new?

My original purchase of the Harmony was so old and worn out, the number and function key identifiers were worn off. Yes, it was that old, it was time to replace it. Also, it only operated 4/5 devices. I like that I'm able to put all of our devices on this one remote. Lickety-split and I'm done. We don't have 10 devices - 5 maybe - so we have room to grow with this one. Plus, with the new technology, much nicer. Hubs isn't tech savvy; whatever makes it's easier for him, I'm all for. No more searching through the pile of remotes for the correct one for whatever device it is he wants to use. This is the technology I like.

Our new soundbar came with a universal remote but it wasn't too user friendly. Enter Logitech Harmony and problem solved. Press one button and everything turns on. Press another button and everything turns off. It's capable of more than I need and you have to keep pointing it until everything is on or off but it gets the job done without breaking the bank.

Best Remote I've Ever Owned

I spent a couple of years juggling 4 remotes and a sequence of steps to turnon the TV or watch netfix. This remote was easy setup and works like a charm. Sometimes it gets out of sync - i don't know why - maybe i'm not pointing it directly at the devices. But there is a help button and if you tell it something is wrong, it tries to fix the problem and usually can. The only thing that would be nice is automation integration. I know they sell more expensive models that do that, but it would be nice to be able to have a Google Home control thie remote without spending $150-250.

Replace a handful of remotes!

The Good:
The Logitech 665 will easily replace your TV. Sound bar/system, DVD/Blu-ray player, game consoles and cable box remote with a single remote. It can replace up to 10 device remotes. You can turn all the proper components for an Activity ON and OFF with a single button push. Set up is straight forward, the wizard guides you easily through everything. I setup my 3 devices in about 10 min. But I have been looking at the other options for about another hour or so. Once the remote is setup and if needed, you can set custom buttons for the display screen area up top and/or the remote area (down below the display on the remote) . You can save up to 23 favorite channels. Logitech durability has been very good for me. Based on those other remote experiences I will be replacing my TV well before I start wanting a new remote.
The Less Good: Once you have every thing set the initial sync goes pretty well. When I came back a few days later to make some changes I wanted, I had a difficult time getting the remote to sync. Closed the software and rebooted the remote and it finally completed a sync. This model does not include a hub. So you can not control smart lights or other home automation devices. You also have to be able to point the remote at the TV/components. I sit about 20ft from my hardware and have never had problems, but everything is open and in direct line of sight. Higher end models from Logitech can go through cabinets or even work from a different rooms. You can only save 23 favorite channels, personally I have a lot more that I would like to store The buttons are "painted", so you need to be careful you don't scratch them with fingernails or it will get hard to tell what the button does. I had a false positive with my A/V software with an older model, the 665 seems to be ok so far. No Google or Alexa capability, but this class of remote would not justify it. No deal breakers here for me, by a long stretch.
Other observations or things I need to research:
Feels like getting to Amazon, Netflix or other streaming apps could be easier (as well as controlling them once you are connected). I have not yet needed help with the 665, but when you click on support in the MyHarmony software it will take you to the Logitech webpage where articles can be searched. There is also a lot of blog resources for help from non-Logitech folks. I am now wanting to add our Xbox One to see how that goes.
******** Before you try to setup your remote, gather your hardware manufacturer names and the Model for each device and know what inputs each will use (HDMI 1, 2 or 3 etc). Take pictures so you don't have to remember everything. It will save time. ********
Overall:
For a basic A/V setup this really is a nice remote. I very much dislike needing a handful of remotes to watch TV. the Logitech Harmony 665 overall does a very nice job for me. And all at a price point I really liked. The second Sync where I had to fiddle with the PC and remote is the only reason I did not give 5 stars. A few of these may become presents for the holidays this year.

Best universal remote I've ever owned, the PC setup is a strong argument, the charging never works well even bought expensive batteries, it does kill them fast.
I bought the higher price one with the remote relays and all and it's not as good I returned

A couple of the buttons on my TV remote we’re starting to go bad, so I looked for a universal remote and settled on this one. The instructions tell you to set aside 45 minutes for the set up. It actually took me much longer, which I’ll get to in a minute. The reason for the length of time is that I think there is a mini computer inside the remote and it has to learn your devices. I needed to replace the remote for an older Samsung TV (approximately 2007), an older Samsung Blu-ray player, and a recently purchased Roku Express.
I was having trouble figuring out the codes to use for my TV, so I wound up calling their customer service. The agent took me through a lot of steps trying to get everything to work properly, but he didn’t give up. I think again, that the problem was having an 11-year-old TV and Blu-ray player. But in the end, he did help me get everything working properly.
The reason this acts as a universal remote, is that in addition to the buttons on the front, it has a little screen which can be divided into four quadrants, each with its corresponding button. For instance, when I am in Roku mode, the screen has four quadrants with the upper left being Home. I press the button next to that and it takes me to the Roku Home screen. So can accomplish a lot by bringing up various messages and displays on this little screen.
Now for some of it negative points. The functionality has decreased and it is no longer replicating what my three separate remotes were able to do. However, I am able to press a Help button and the screen will ask me questions and my responses allow it to reset the remote so that it then works properly. But it’s a pain that it seems to be doing that regularly now. I’m going to have to call customer service again.
The other gripe I have is with the ergonomics of the design. It nicely fits your hand but all of the numerical buttons are at the very bottom which makes them almost impossible to press with your thumb while holding the remote. So you need to either set it down or use two hands. Also none of them are lit up so you need to turn on a lamp if it’s at night, although the screen does light up. Finally, in addition to the normal four-way button arrows, there is a second set of arrows which are up-and-down only. I have no idea what they are for, but they screw things up when I accidentally press one of them instead of the arrow I want from the four way set.
Overall, I think it is quite a handy little device, with good customer service.

This is a great device to compile my other remotes into one. I have the previous version (650) for few years and I came back to this b/c I loved it. I'd give 5 stars if it's more stable. as soon as you drop it, it resets itself and loses the activity setting.

Overall, this is a good remote. I purchased it to take the place of several other remotes, and it does that well, but some features are missing, or are difficult to make happen, so I end up with another remote out. I couldn't make it learn the shortcuts, but maybe there is a way to do this. That would make it much better.
