This remote is great. I REALLY, REALLY like the bright white back light. It is rechargeable with a simple micro USB cable, so charging is easy. It is somewhat limited in the number of devices it can control, so it may not work for your application, but it works great for my bedroom.
This is my fifth Harmony remote, and I am a fan. I have one in every room of my house that has a TV. I have DirecTV and all manner of TVs, receivers, sound bars, players, etc... Everything works like a dream. I just can't understand anyone saying that these are hard to program. You just type in the model of your device, and then answer a few simple questions about how you want it to work, and viola'. The correct device is controlled to do what you want without having to fuss around with anything. It just couldn't be easier.
If you need to control AV devices and you just want it to be simple, I highly recommend looking into a Harmony. They are truly the best you can get.

So I bought one of these remotes 5-6 yrs ago (same model #) & loved it. Recently I decided to buy one for my mother: I discovered that there was an updated version of the same model. Whereas mine had a smooth, glossy coating that made it slippery at times, the one I bought my mother has a textured surface that feels more comfortable in the hand. The newer one also came with its own rechargeable batteries - chargeable via USB cable plugged directly into the remote - whereas my older one did not.
What remains the same between both is the responsiveness of the functions and the customization options. I love the macro option where I can program a single button to turn on my TV+receiver+Blu Ray player and be ready to go. Use the downloadable software and you can program equipment by just entering the model number - Logitech stays up-to-date & had my mother's 2016 model Samsung TV in the database when I bought the remote during the summer. The backlit keys are a major plus, as is the color display for your custom keys. The infrared learning scanner is simple to use - but please note that newer Samsung TV remotes seemingly cannot be scanned to learn new keys.
I loved how my mother's new remote worked out - enough that I decided to buy myself a new one, too! And that's where I came across the one caveat. I'd been used to utilizing the downloadable Logitech Harmony software to program the remote - allows for 6 items to be added. But Logitech has the new MyHarmony tool that can be used now.... Unlike the old program, this one allows the remote to have up to 8 items added. BUT a lot of antivirus programs red-flag the program as harmful for some reason. I've seen that customers have been complaining for a LONG time but not much has been done to fix it. Lucky for me I only need to control exactly 6 pieces of equipment; I'm not sure if MyHarmony truly is a risky thing to use but I tend to prefer relying on what my antivirus tells me. It sucks that there isn't some firmware update that makes it possible to use the old program to add 8 total items. (shrugs) Aside from that, it's a pretty great remote.

A friend of mine recently moved and could not locate two of his remotes. I have and love my Logitech 650 and 700 remotes. As my friend knows I am tech savvy, he asked me to help set up his media devices, I recommended the 700 to him as it has recharging capabilities. When it arrived I spent about 45 min setting up his 6 media devices, showed him how to recharge the unit, how to work the 'activities' buttons and how to access the software. He stopped by the other day, and when leaving he stated,' oh yeah, I LOVE MY REMOTE!' Until he purchased the 700 he had always used the original remotes for his devices. Now he has a clutter free table, and can access all the menus and setups of his media. I highly recommend both the 650 and 700 universal remotes. If you use the remote a lot, or have a cat that likes to sit on it, the rechargeable 700 is the way to go, in all other ways it is the same as the 650.

I had purchased this item from Best Buy because it was on sale and was in need of an easy to use all in one remote. If you're looking for a simple yet intuitive remote, this is for you. Setup is very easy once you download the Logitech app to your computer and hook up the remote via the included cable to your USB port. The Logitech computer program made things very simple to program and make sure that if you have multiple devices to watch tv, for example, the setup allows you to press the watch tv button to turn on multiple devices (tv, cable box, sound system receiver) at once with ease. The quality of the remote itself is good quality as I come to expect from Logitech. Even the help function on the remote guides you through if one or more of your devices haven't turned on or off. Overall a great all in one remote that's easy to use, intuitive, simple, and a great value especially when on sale.

I highly recommend the Harmony 700 remote! We use this to control all of our electronics. The best feature is the activity buttons. You get to program 3 activities (watch tv, watch a movie, listen to music) with their own independent button. For example it will turn on your tv,stereo and cable box on just by pushing the watch tv button if that's how you program it. For "watch a movie" it will turn on your DVD player and stereo or whatever. Also, it will display all the functions of each device. Whatever you can do on all the individual remotes you can still do but on one Harmony remote! It's also rechargeable. We started using it on Christmas Day and have yet to have a need to charge and it's Jan.7 today. You do need to know all of your model numbers of your devices so make sure you write those down before you start the program process to make things easier. Truly a great purchase!

I have a 650. I recently upgraded my television and receiver. I opted to upgrade the remote but didn’t like the thought of re-learning another device. The 700 operates the same as the 650 but instead of having to replace the batteries regularly, now I just plug the remote in once a week and never have to worry about having replacement batteries on hand.

I am highly impressed. No more searching for the right remote. I followed the instructions and the remote practically set itself up. Few hiccups for the first minute but the remote corrected itself. Which honestly impressed me allot. I have a set top box from dish network, my vizio tv, samsung sound bar, and my Nvidia Shield TV. The remote controls every single one of them. I can finally put the remotes away and just use this one. I highly recommend this product to anyone who is like me, with a drawer full of remotes. Now I wish it could do my job and my life would be set, or be like that movie click. Just kidding I would never want a remote like click.

Remote offers a wide range of device coverage. I can now turn on my TV, cable box, and sound bar with one button/remote. Just expect a couple seconds of lag when turning on or off your devices; need to keep the remote pointed at the devices until all are in our it may miss turning it on.

I had been looking at these for awhile but kept passing them up. My wife surprised me with one for Christmas and it is the best remote I have owned. I went from fumbling around with 5 different remotes to having just the one. With the push of a button all of my devices turn on/off and go to the correct inputs for the desired activity. It’s amazing. Setup does take a bit but it is well worth it. The only downside to this model is it does not have a charging dock so you have to plug it in when it’s time to charge but in my opinion it is not a deal breaker especially with the new price these are selling at.

Great Remote, One HUGE Flaw

As a Harmony 1 owner (best remote ever), I was hoping this was going to be about the same, maybe a little scaled down. As for operational functions, it works just fine, although with a slightly different interface than the One. The BIGGEST flaw, though, is that you cannot charge this thing at all (using rechargeable batteries). The One sat on a charge cradle and recharged automatically. This one essentially needs you to replace the batteries, and recommends rechargeable ones, but plugging it in does nothing to charge, so you have to either use alkaline or charge your batteries in a separate charger.

Bought this to replace a Harmony 510 where the numbers on the keys were literally worn off from use. I like the rechargeable batteries and that you can plug it in to recharge. Setup was extremely easy (after you get all the model #'s from the devices!) . Works like a charm & was over 1/2 price on sale. Lights on the remote come on when you touch it EXCEPT for the "Watch TV" & "Watch A Movie" buttons which control starting up all devices on both of our TV's (also none of the keys above the screen light up), that would be the only con - wish they would light up also. We only have 6 devices on this remote so any Harmony above this one would have been overkill however if I needed more I would not have hesitated to get a Harmony for more $$.

I am not super technical and other than my surface pro 3 having some connection issues with this product during syncing it works great. I like the ability to have the visual aspect through the pc to add or edit or delete programing plus the help function on the remote. All together these have made this an e easy and useful remote.

I purchased this logitech harmony 700 to replace just one remote that my daughter ended up hiding from us. Little did I know that I was about to replace all my remotes that I use in my living room. This unit comes with 2 rechargeable batteries that are rechargeable through the micro usb port on the top of the remote. Programming the remote is easy with the myharmony.com website. A simple search and few clicks and your remote will be programmed in no time. The distance is great and the remote is very easy to master all around. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an all in one solution for multiple remotes in the household.

Great entry level Harmony remote...

This is a very good Harmony remote for a fairly simple home theater setup. I was able to pick this up for $40 on sale and I don't think I'd ever pay more than $50 for this level remote, but for the price it definitely performs well and does everything you'd want or expect of a Harmony remote. If you've used any Harmony remotes in the past the setup is pretty straightforward, however, first timers may have a bit of a learning curve with the software. Once you fully understand it though it's pretty amazing how much this simple remote can do. Very nice in the hand and I like the colors/design more than the previous similar models. If you can find it on sale for under $50, grab one!

I've had a Harmony universal remote before; this has comparable intuitive features and controls more devices. The retail price is quite expensive (over $100) but the Best Buy daily deal made it VERY affordable (under $50).
What was a bit aggravating was the set-up; the standard programming didn't work so well with a new sound bar -- I'm sure installing with a stereo receiver would have been simpler. A tech savvy friend helped me, so I was able to pass on the $99 Geek Squad assistance.
Now that it's set up I can see the coffee table again with a single remote.

There isn't anything bad to say about this remote. Ergonomically it is great, feels nice in the hand and the way the buttons are laid out. The rechargeable batteries are a plus. My favorite feature is the back-lit buttons which makes it great for viewing in low light conditions. The 650 does not have this feature so if you don't want lighted buttons then it should be good less expensive alternative. Configuring it was amazingly easy. Going to the myharmony.com and setting it up is very easy. If, and a very big if at that, the database of over 6,000 codes does not work for the device you have it still has a learning ability using the original device remote. Using the website to configure and setting up macros couldn't be easier. A macro is where you press one button and it executes multiple functions; turning on cable device, TV, sound system, lighting, motorized window shades etc.all by just pushing one button. Any device that uses a RF remote can be programmed, as in any device not limited to just audio-visual equipment. How cool. it will even select the right input if you are watching TV or Blu-Ray disc or DVD. I have actually spent more in the past on a universal remote but this Harmony 700 beats it by leaps and bounds. I highly recommend it.

I've been a fan of Logitech Harmony Remotes for many years. This remote continues their tradition of being a user-friendly, reliable product. I appreciate that Logitech, through the desktop software application, makes it fairly easy to migrate to a new remote. (It's not a flawless process sometimes, depending on what remote you're moving to, but it could be much more difficult.) The only reason I gave four stars instead of five, is that the buttons are more squishy than clicky, and I'm a fan of more clicky-feeling buttons. Overall, a good product.
