Great DIY Remote for a A/V Home Theatre setup

I bought this remote to replace a URC professional-installed programmable remote, because I could not get any support for the URC remote. I was hesitant, at first, about this remote, because it did not have build quality and programming flexibility of my original remote. But I have found this remote to meet my needs very nicely. Especially the RF capability, since my A/V components are in a separate room where the remote is used. The setup for this remote is done by downloading the Android app to my phone and using the app to configure the remote and hub. The setup navigation via the app was not as user friendly as it could be. A few instructions on how to navigate through the app would have be very helpful and make the setup even easier. But overall, the remote is easy to program after you get past the learning curve. Logitech "programs" the remote by downloading the remote functions of each component from their database, so you will need to know the Make and Model of each A/V component to download the appropriate "remote". Customization is done by programming "activities" (i.e, Watch Movie - turn on TV, DVD player and A/V Receiver). It took me about 2 hours, to add 5 components, configure the settings for those components and program the different activities/operations. I found the operation of the remote to be on par with my existing "professional" remote and the touchscreen to be very responsive. Bottomline: (in my opinion) this is great DIY programmable remote and is worth the investment.

I have had the Logitech Harmony remotes since the very first model. This is by far their best product that controls all of my devices, thermostat, and lights flawlessly with incredible ease. I would highly suggest this product!

The remote is rechargeable, you never have to replaced batteries. It has eliminated the use of 5 individual device remotes. It provides all the needed functions for each device. It even controls some home automation devices.

I bought a Harmony model 880 over 8 or 9 years ago and it has lasted through some bad falls. The remote was such a great upgrade from my standard issued remotes (receiver, tv, dvd). Of course there was always room for improvement as technology has improved during that time. So I bought the Harmony Ultimate Home and haven't been disappointed. The grip, the feel, the screen display and overall convenience of use made this purchase well worth it. I happened to catch it on a very good sale. The setup was a bit challenging but I did figure it out after some trial and error. It took about 2 hours before I figured it out. I don't have any home lighting or home temperature gadgets linked up to it yet but I hope it doesn't disappoint.

I bought this as a gift for my parents who have all of their devices in a closet at the back of the room. Having both the bluetooth control for the hub and the infrared for the TV was a must. Setup was relatively easy, but involved a lot of setup steps with the hub, the remote, the mobile app and the program on the computer. However, since it works so well, I don't mind. The only thing that is a hassle is when switching between two activities that involves changing the input on the TV, the remote has to point at the TV and you have to hold it there while it cycles through the different inputs before it lands on the correct one. It's not a big deal though. I haven't used it yet for the other home controls.

I’ve been looking for many years for a remote control that can control my high definition devices audio video Apple TV in my skystream video stream device. Previous basic generation Harmony devices did not work because they did not have infrared hub that could recognize all my video and audio and cable box through wood stereo cabinet (with door shut ). Although the initial set up for this universal remote is a bit tricky (esp w remote hub connecting to your wireless router amd programming all your activities) once I had everything set up everything worked perfectly and flawlessly. Occasionally the hub would not connect to my Internet or with the Harmony device so I had to reset it. I watched a YouTube video which help me with the set up. I recommend doing the same. I particularly love the Activity option where I can choose “watch Apple TV “or “watch TV” or “watch TV” and all of my devices will turn on spontaneously together and perfect timing. My Samsung TV Yamaha audio and Comcast box work perfectly with all functions intact. I was also able to connect my Nest AC system to this remote control. Overall I love it and would definitely recommend it. The only minor flaw is the set up part is a bit tricky and requires patience. After that everything works perfectly. You can also control everything on your iPhone or on the remote itself. Once again the best part of this remote is it has a infrared for which you can control your equipment even through cabinet doors and closed doors. This is a huge plus.

To start, I loved my Harmony One. It was really old and beat up but it got the job done. When the replacement program between Logitech and Best Buy presented it's self, I felt I had to jump on the deal. This is a great system, no more missed commands sent the entertainment center. It solid in the hand and well built. My only complaints are the battery life between charges and that the battery can not be replaced. The apps for my phone and tablet makeup for that.

Yes it is expensive, however it is well worth it. I use to control Apple TV, a TV, a PS3, Nest, LED lights as well as my Receiver. Set up time was not too bad and did a bunch of it in my TV room with the remote and my iphone. I did have to finish it up using my computer. It works flawlessly. Since I got it, 3 of my freinds of purchased it. I have found that because of the ease of use I now watch more Netflix movies (apple tv), Amazon Prime Movies (PS3), I listen to my music more and it the simple reason for it is because I do not have to pick up 3-4 remotes.

The size is great and it's light. I find the touch screen unresponsive at times and it takes several attempts to get it to respond. Also the buttons are poorly placed ergonomically as several DVR managing buttons are placed low on the remote and covered by your palm when you hold the device with one hand. My earlier generation Harmony was impressive even if a bit clunky.

I've been using Harmony remotes since they were first released (before Logitech bought them.) I really like that this remote works with the base station. The remote to base station communication is RF, so the remote can be in the other room, and doesn't have to be pointed at your equipment (but the base does, or you can use the included IR blasters connected to the base and then placed in front of your equipment.) I upgraded from an older harmony One, and was able to just import my existing settings and everything just worked! Very happy with this remote so far. The other really cool thing is that you can also use your smart phone as another remote, all the commands are sent from the base.

Fantastic Remote! Easy setup, works perfectly with all my audio and video equipment: Denon X3100W, Comcast Xfinity, Panasonic Blu-Ray, Applet TV. I love the fact it communicates with the hub via RF so I do not have to worry about anything in the way. The included RF blasters work great in my enclosed cabinet, very reliable. The best part is I can make changes to the remote using the software or the remote itself and it will wirelessly synch with the hub.

I have been using individual remotes for all of my devices because I didn't see a universal remote with adequate capabilities. When I saw the Logitech remote for sale, I took a close look at it. It appeared to have a lot capability. Also, the reviews for this remote were very good. I went ahead and purchased the remote. Once I charged it up, I proceeded to try and program it. I found that the programming capabilities for this remote were extensive and initially confusing. The online help was not adequate to work through the changes needed. I ended up calling the help desk a couple of times to assist with some programming changes. The help desk gave me the assistance I needed. I have continued to tweak the remote making improvements to the programming. The Logitech device database is extensive and covered all of my devices. All of the commands on the device remotes were in the database. The remote programming includes sequences so I was able to eliminate several button inputs. The programming process is confusing at the start and you have to figure out where changes need to be made in order to accomplish the commands you want implemented. The remote seems to have a fairly wide IR range. I do have problems with the cable box not turning on sometimes. You can use the help button on the remote to try and correct this kind of issue. It will go through a corrective program to try and correct a repeating problem. Overall, I have been pleased with this remote and would purchase it again.

Works incredibly well as a universal remote. Home automation functions are ok. A little lacking at this point. So far we have a few light bulbs and two Honeywell thermostats connected. Programming of activities is nice but only works about 80-90 to get every device in a program. It depends on previous settings and if it was shut down properly. Would buy again though. Hopefully they continue to improve compatibility.

This remote control and hub does tons of stuff. I bought this to replace my Harmony One remote control after getting a Playstation 4 because other than turning on the PS4, everything else is very easy to use. It's great to be able to control all of my entertainment stand using the hub/remote and the fact that I could easily download the harmony app onto my phone and tablet to control it without the remote is an amazing feature as well. If you're sick of having a ton of remotes to control everything and are willing to spend a little bit of extra cash to make things a ton easier, this is definitely the remote to look at.

This was supposed to be a great purchase, but it's a little disappointing. It's easy to set up and control your devices, but I guess I was expecting to do more. It's able to turn on what I want it to, and easily switch between devices. The downside is the controls are limited for some things. I haven't been able to figure out how to control only the HUE lights I want (right now it turns all of them on or off around the house and I can't even change their colors), which really is annoying me. Not only that but it doesn't work with the PS4. Granted that is more Sony's fault, but I'm still annoyed by it. I've actually gone back to my TV's remove half the time because it has a cursor on the screen and makes typing out usernames and passwords easier, along with a bit easier functionality. My girlfriend loves the remote though and always uses it. I'm at a toss up between recommending this and not. The concept is great, but the practicality no so much. If your TV remote sucks, or you have 3 or 4 remotes you use when watching your TV I'd say go with this as the touch screen is nice. Otherwise if your TV remote can do a lot and meets your needs, don't buy this.

Nobody really *needs* a remote like this. It's the Cadillac of remotes. Problem is, I want to go out and spend about a billion dollars on a new thermostat, LED lights, etc so I can really totally automate my home. Programmed all of my devices in a super short time, and the cellphone app is awesome. I was sitting at a traffic light one day and, just for the heck of it, turned on all of my media stuff so that music was playing when I walked into my house. You have to admit, that's pretty cool. It was actually easier to set up than I realized it would be. Did it all from my PC, uploaded the settings, and was good to go.

The Logitech remote we purchased was designed to turn on our TV in one room and our cable box in a separate close via the radio frequency (RF) technology. Overall, we are pleased with this remote and it has an auto-fix feature if the TV and cable box get out of synchs. My only criticism is that the battery life is limited and needs to be charged in the cradle more often than I would like.

I took advantage of the Harmony upgrade promotion and traded in my Harmony One remote for $100 towards the Harmony Ultimate Home. I initially second guessed my decision since the One was still in great shape and did everything I asked of it but the Ultimate Home blew me away. It was easy to set-up and quickly imported all the settings from my One profile and was easily tweaked to add new features and macros. I love the fact that I can use the remote to access my Nest thermostats. Only thing I miss is the ability to control the Playstation 4 but am hopeful that will be added in a future software update.
