Wish the package said the "dongle (receiver) is inside the battery compartment". Not seeing it as part of the package puzeled me. But putting it into the computer and battery into the mouse, it was connected and working instantly. The battery is supposed to last a year - wow.

It works fine at a bargain price

Call it semi-compact. It's the only wireless mouse I've owned so can't really offer any comparison. I'm using it with a Chromebook I bought for portability and as an emergency backup to my desktop. I find it quite handy for that purpose...much better than the touch-pad.
