GOOD, But NOT Great - As Bluetooth Mice Go ...

PREFACE : I swear by Logitech "computer" accessories! - ALL of my "mice" (wireless AND cord-connected), and all my desktop speaker systems are Logitech products. ... Logitech designs, manufactures AND supports truly high-quality accessories, and they sell them at REALLY reasonable prices through many highly reputable sources! #1.) MY "COUCHED" COMPLAINTS : This Logitech - M557 Bluetooth Mouse IS NOT a really solidly constructed mouse. - I DON'T THINK THIS MOUSE WILL WITHSTAND BEING DROPPED FROM A DESK-HEIGHT SURFACE ONTO A HARD FLOOR SURFACE MANY MORE TIMES THAN ONCE. - My first concern about this mouse's "impact resistance" weaknesses is the fact that it does not have a battery "door" like ALL my other Logitech Wi-Fi mice. ... This mouse has a battery retaining cradle piece that frames the whole bottom half of the mouse's body. It's NOT attached very well to begin with, and when you add the weight of the batteries, it feels like it will just pop off upon impact: The batteries will be ejected and you will have to put the whole mouse back together again, before re-connecting it with your device. If this "cradle" breaks or snaps it will probably be repairable with glue, but it may never hold in place (albeit loosely) quite "right" again. - THIS MOUSE WILL PROBABLY NEVER PERFORM WELL AS A "TRAVEL"/"ROAD WARRIOR" MOUSE: IT'S JUST TOO INHERENTLY FRAGILE TO TRAVEL WELL AT ALL. My second "issue" with this mouse may be (mostly) "my problem", but I bet that I'm not the only person who experiences this particular issue when using this particular mouse. ... I rest my middle finger on a mouse's right /"secondary" (e.g., left for "lefties") button all the time. This has NEVER been a problem for me when using ANY OTHER Logitech mouse. HOWEVER, on this Logitech M557, its buttons are so sensitive (they require SO MUCH LESS pressure to activate their contacts) that my middle finger is constantly "right clicking" the right button whenever (or just slightly after) I click the left/"primary" button. I'm really finding it difficult to train my middle finger to NOT rest on the right button AT ALL. - IN SHORT, the buttons on this mouse are not for people who are at all "ham-handed". I feel that someone with the delicate touch of a neurosurgeon is going to be far more able to use this mouse adeptly. ... IF YOU CAN, I suggest getting your hands on this mouse before you buy it. You may already be far more used to light and sensitive mice than I was when I bought this mouse "sight unseen". #2.) AND NOW FOR MY COMPLIMENTS : As I said in my preface: I swear by Logitech "computer" accessories! - This mouse (even considering my previous complaints) IS REALLY aesthetically pleasing, both visually and in its tactility. The feel of this mouse in my "smallish" hand is as good as (and maybe even a little better than) any of the other Logitech ("mini" and medium sized) mice I have ever owned/used. Its width, shape and general profile just feels good in my hand, even if its lower (less rounded, less bulbous) height may be contributing to my "middle finger resting problem" previously mentioned. I love the Windows "Start"(-Menu) button, it's really a handy time (and motion) -saver. ... It was VERY easy to "pair" with my Lenovo G50-45 laptop AND it always connects to this computer really quickly upon start up. After all, the REAL reason I got a Bluetooth mouse was to avoid taking up ANY of the three USB ports on this laptop with a Wi-Fi mouse receiver dongle (I have A LOT of peripheral USB devices): To that end I have certainly accomplished what I was setting out to do by purchasing this Logitech M557 Bluetooth Mouse. Overall, it's a GOOD bluetooth mouse for use at home, or in the office, just as long as you can keep from knocking it off your desk (or other work surfaces) on to the floor. However, if you spend a lot of time using your laptop/netbook/tablet in airplanes, on trains, in airports, hotels or other strange and/or uncomfortable "working" spaces; JUST GET A SEPARATE, MORE "STURDY" BLUETOOTH "TRAVEL" MOUSE (other than the Logitech M557) TO KEEP READY TO GO IN YOUR DEVICE'S "E.V.A." CASE, AND LEAVE THE M557 AT HOME.

    Bad From the Start

I got this mouse after getting a couple bad USB mice hoping the bluetooth feature would free up some USB space and be easy to connect. But as soon as I got it out of the package, I noticed something peculiar; the right click button wasn't making any noise when I pushed on it. So right from the start, there was a defect in the product. I didn't want this to soil my opinion on the product, so I decided to try to connect it to my computer (Windows). It connected after about 10 minutes, and initially, it worked fine. But after about 15 minutes, the cursor stopped moving. I had to reconnect the mouse over again, and I kept experiencing the same problem. After doing some research, I found that RF from wireless devices could interfere with the connection, which seemed iffy for a $40 dollar mouse. And after being on hold with Logitech CS for a while, I haven't gotten anywhere in getting a refund. Not worth it.

This Logitech bluetooth mouse has worked fairly well in the time I have had it. It is a little bigger than the mouse I was using, but it is still easy enough to control. Logitech advertises a year's battery use but I am still a long way from finding out if that is accurate. One complaint that I had read and do agree with is that it takes a bit for the mouse to become active, especially if you turn it off when you leave your computer (which I did.) Wanted the bluetooth to use with my laptop so I did not have to have the USB dongle occupying one of the USB ports and it is nice for that. I have had a couple occurances of the top cover popping off if the mouse were to be dropped but so far it does go back together. The price was right on this as I purchased it one day when Best Buy had it as a daily special. Bluetooth mice can be very expensive and the deal got it to a price point I was willing to accept. Overall I have been happy with the mouse and its performance.

Super alternative to Apple Magic Mouse

I love using this bluetooth mouse on my MacBook Pro and MacBook laptops. I can use the mouse on either laptop and it is more responsive in my opinion than the Apple Magic Mouse. The Apple Mouse was not immediately recognized on boot up so you had to use the trackpad to navigate to enter the password. This mouse is immediately recognized on the splash screen (once you set it up as usual). It also has a good feel and the familiar dual buttons and school button that I prefer. As a bluetooth mouse, it frees up a precious usb port too. Good price here at Best Buy, more than half the price of the Magic Mouse. I highly recommend it if you're a Mac person and prefer a mouse over the track/touch pad.

I had reservations before deciding to go Bluetooth for my new laptop. I was concerned that it might "cut in/cut out" or that it might interfere with my WiFi connection. But with Best Buy's return/exchange policy I figured "What've I got to lose, give it a try." And I'm glad I did. This Logitech Bluetooth mouse is probably the best mouse I've ever owned, and once you get used to no wire, you won't want to go back again. It tracks beautifully and is very precise. Also, it paired to my laptop with absolutely no hassle...as easy as 1, 2, 3. Done. Overall, a truly fine product, as we've come to expect from Logitech.

I bought it because I wanted a bluetooth mouse for my macbook pro, and it gets the job done. It is a little heavy compared with the other mouses and it is because it uses two AA batteries, although it says it last one year, so let see. I take one star because of the two batteries, heavy, and it feels not so "ergonomic", when you wake up the computer it takes between two and three seconds to be active, and the wheel it doesn't have the "clicking" feel, the best thing is that it doesn't have that annoying "clicking" sound the other mouses have. Still a great buy instead of the "Magic Mouse" for 79 dlls.

This is my second purchase of a Logitech M557 Bluetooth Mouse. I liked my first one so much that I bought another one to keep in my computer carrying case just to make sure that I never leave home without my favorite mouse. The Logitech M557, being a bluetooth mouse, does not require use of a USB slot. It is compatible with both my Apple Macbook Pro and my Windows-based computers. Important to me are how comfortable it is to use and how much longer it runs between battery replacements. I highly recommend this mouse!

This is a good mouse. On occasion it will drop the connection to my laptop. I also have large hands and it's a bit too shallow. Buttons are solid and have a nice detent. It reads my uneven surfaces well, and accuracy is excellent. The power switch coloring is unusual but obvious. Battery cover is reasonably easy to access but I cannot attest to battery life at this point. I'm using enloops anyway, so it really wouldn't matter much to me. Fit and finish is nice. Smooth to the touch. If it was taller and had some rubber grippers on the sides I would rate it higher.

I bought the bluetooth mouse so I would not have a mini USB sticking out of my computer that could get caught on my computer case, Ireally like it and it works almost all of the time. I have a problem with Rosetta Stone as, when I'm in the program, it regularly freezes part of the time then will work again as I move on using my finger mouse on the computer (not sure if its the mouse or the program but I don't have the problem with a mini=USB). Very occasionally this may also happen with other applications, but not enough to be a problem.

this bluetooth mouse is light-weight, well designed and has 3 customizable buttons. The bluetooth is easy to connect, and unless wireless mouse, it doesn't need a receiver. I use Surface Pro, it only has one USB port, so Bluetooth is a must for me. the mouse doesn't feel small, and it looks sleek. The clicks are responsive, and the customizable button give you great options. The only thing that made it 4 stars is that it is not using Bluetrack tech, something that is very accurate and can be used on many different surface.

I purchased this recently because the trackpad on my new Dell laptop is very sensitive and sometimes feels like trying to push a shopping cart with one bad front wheel (otherwise the laptop's great, though). It linked up quickly and is making it much easier to use my laptop. There is an on/off switch on the bottom of the mouse that will extend the life of your batteries. The packaging states the mouse gets about a year on a set of batteries, which I appreciate.

Since I've been satisfied with other Logitech products, I decided to try this Logitech mouse because the battery-life in my Microsoft 5000 was not good. It looks nice and functions well. I have found a Bluetooth mouse is not as reliable for me as a 2.4 GHz but it may be due to the BT Dongle Adapter (my laptop does not have Bluetooth built-in). I still occasionally lose connection with the new Logitech and have to reset the adapter, but if I switch back to a 2.4 I lose another USB port.

I needed a Bluetooth mouse for my new Surface Pro 3. With only 1 USB port, it was important to find one that would be powerful without a need for a unifying receiver. This one fit the bill. So far, I'm impressed with the functionality and comfort. I tried Microsoft ArcTouch mouse and found it uncomfortable. The Logitech M557 connects perfectly and feels great under my palm. Great purchase!

Paired it on both my personal Dell XPS 13 and an HP Elitebook from work and it works like a charm without giving up another USB slot. The only gripe I have would be the fact that once in a while, after leaving unattended for a few minutes, the connection will be lost which I understand to conserve power but it takes a while to link back. I personally think that it's just bluetooth thing so I'm still happy with it. The was the only reason I gave it a 4 star!

Bought this as I didn't want tonnage to deal with the little receiver and breaking or losing it. So far it's worked very well with a Win10 Lenovo X1 Yoga. I can't comment on the battery life, but it's a month and going strong and I don't turn it off overnight or the weekends when I leave it at work. It's on the small side, so it you like big mice this isn't for you. But buttons and scroll wheel work well and it tracks well for a business mouse.

Nice design, very light with low profile makes it a good travel mouse. Bluetooth setup worked without issue. Two gothchas, scoll wheel is very hard to turn and press. You cannot flick it with your middle finger like most mice. Second, I have had issues with it not turning on, had to remove and reinsert batteries to get it to turn on. Decent choice for a Bluetooth mouse, but I like the Logitech M557 and MS Sculpt mouse better for about same price.

This mouse is an excellent mouse, typical Logitech quality and fit in hand. I like the metallic shiny finish. I am using this on two different Chromebooks - Toshiba CB 2 and the new Asus Chromebook Flip and it works very well on those machines. The Windows key even brings up the Chrome application launcher.

i purchased this mouse to pair with my first macbook pro. I'm a big fan of windows 7 and finally forced myself to buy a mac. i'm not a fan of the macbook at all, but this mouse has made my experience with macbook more tolerable. it was easy to pair, and i have paired it to two devices (macbook pro and samsung laptop using a logitech unify dongle) battery life has been good, i've charge it about once a month.

The mouse responses fast. Although I think it is not really beautifually designed, it is really functional. Considering that you do not need to insert a wireless receiver to your laptop's usb port, it is really convenient. You do not need to worry you lost the receiver. It is really a good product. I tried with my MacBook and win 10, both of them work well with this. Highly recommend to you.

I bought this to use with my Windows 8.1 2-in-1 tablet which doesn't have full sized USB ports. It paired up quickly, tracks great over a variety of surfaces, feels great in the hand, and is relatively low profile so will fit in a bag or pocket easily. I've never been disappointed with a Logitech product and this is yet another example of one of their very well done products.
