    Amazing in-ear-monitors for the price

After receiving a slew of gift cards for the holidays, I found myself in the market for a nice pair of headphones. I kept debating between over-the-ear or on-ear headphones versus earbuds and in-ear-monitors. I finally decided on an in-ear style of headphones to suit my needs for portability. I spent a few weeks researching the best set of earbuds I could buy for a under $150. Like everyone, I want to get the most bang for my buck. Also, I wanted to get a pair of headphones that could compete, if not surpass, the performance of a nice pair of over-the-ear headphones. I read countless reviews on the Bose IE2, the Klipsch Image S4, and the Monster Turbines to name a few. I then came across the Ultimate Ears 700 series. I read countless reviews from critics and consumers alike, and ultimately decided to give them a try. Best decision I've made in awhile. The headphones provide for a wide range of crisp mids and highs with the occasional barrage of punchy lows. The lows are true bass, not the artificially boosted mess you'll get with the Beats by Dr. Dre or the Monster Turbines. I cannot believe the amount of clarity that these two little speakers produce. In terms of size, they are quite small and fit comfortably in my ears. The UE 700s come with 5 pairs of silicone tips (XXS, XS, S, M, and L) and 2 pairs of foam comfy tips. I've yet to try the comfy tips, but I've read numerous reviews that they allow for better noise cancellation as the foam provides a better in-ear seal. Also, like a fine wine, these headphones get better with age once they are "burned in" after about 30 hours of listening. I have yet to reach that point and they already sound amazing. I've since learned Ultimate Ears originally started as a company that catered to musicians by providing custom sets of in-ear-monitors. It wasn't until recently that they dove into the consumer headphone market. After instant success, they were recently bought by Logitech. If you want a high quality pair of in-ear-monitors for under $150, I would not hesitate on picking the UE 700s. You will not be disappointed.
