This system provided better sound with a dedicated connection. It is clear when my laptop is active but buzzes lightly when it suspends - I simply use the switch on the manual volume knob to turn it off.

Although they touted great sounding onboard speakers, you can't really get good sound out of a 2"x3" speaker in a computer screen case. I wanted something more, and the Logitech set was perfect. Set up was easy for a Technology Leper like me, Bass? Better than I had but not nightclub pounding great like some others have reviewed. If you are looking to make any improvement over your stock onboards, this is it. If you think it's gonna be Studio 54, you are going to be disappointed.
