    Best trilogy

This is the best trilogy ever made. The only thing that some people might not like about the movies are that they over 2 and a half hours each (178 mins, 179 min , 201 mins). This did not bother me but may bother some other people. It has a great story line that almost anyone can appreciate. The acting is consistently great and it even has some comedic elements in it (not something most great action movies have). Excellent price for 3 top movies makes it even better.

I haven't seen any other trilogy that could beat this one. These movies have the best actors, best visual and sound effects, best storyline, best everything. It has something for all ages. It has action, comedy, romance, violence....you name it, it has it. This movie will forever be a legendary one. Thanks for people who made these movies. I hear there are talks about making "The Hobbit", please bring Viggo Mortensen and Orlando Bloom back if you make this one.

This is one instance where I can actually say I enjoyed the movies possibly better than the book . I'm an avid fantasy reader and appreciate how Tolkien's revolutionary books helped the fantasy genre, but they do have their slow points. The trilogy overall is very good. Fellowship of the Ring is a bit slow but so was the book. I'd rather see more of Aragorn and less of Frodo but that's right from the book again. Probably my favorite fantasy movie series.

I have seen these movies a load of times, including in the theatre, but this set not only brings you the greatest movies ever, but it allows you to buy it at a cheaper price. This is cheaper than Wal-Mart even! This would be an awesome Christmas gift for any LOTR fans.

LOTR stands as a hallmark in cinema. It's a faithful adaptation of a great work of fantasy literature. While each movie stands alone, together they are a masterpiece in storytelling, CGA, cinematography, direction, etc. Well worth the time to watch over and over.

    Best Trilogy Ever

This is my favorite sci-fi/fantasy trilogy of all time. Everything works so well in this telling of the classic story, that it all seems perfectly plausible, regardless of how fantastic it all is. Great way to spend a rainy weekend.

    Extended Versions Are Better

This dvd set of J.R.R. Tolkien's 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy, is quite good, though I cannot recommend it since the dvd set containing the 'extended versions' is so much better. If you're going to invest in these movies, you may as well go all-out and buy the films in their most complete format.
