Non Extended Versions = EPIC FAIL

I have seen parts of all three LOTR on Blu-Ray and they look phenomenal, what I don't agree with is why they would not put the Extended Cuts, considering how much space there is on one Blu-Ray Disc. In a year they will release the extended versions just like with the Blu-Ray, so wait for that. Other than that the box set is great and the extras are wonderful, but just hold off until the extended versions are on Blu-Ray.

Not as good as Special Edition DVD

I'd come to love the extras found on the special edition DVD version of this series. The extras the director put back in really makes the movie shine. Other than that, the Blu-Ray really does make the movie look spectacular!! The little dinky sword that comes with this set is a waste of time as I knew it would be. I bought this set because it was cheaper with the sword than it was without.

BluRay is a collector format currently. It's still not meant for the average person. People who buy BluRay love movies. Why is this, one of the greatest fantasy epics of all time, being released as a theatrical version? Does the distribution house think that people will fall for this again? DO NOT BUY THIS if you expect the extended edition. You won't get it. You won't get Aragorn's song. You won't get Merry and Pippin drinking from the Methedras springs. You'll just get a smack in the face when this is re-released as the extended edition in six months.

Greatest Movie Ever; Even Better in Blu-Ray!

This dvd set made no claims of including the extended versions of the lotr trilogy, so I see no reason why people should be upset by this. Also, the black bars another reviewer commented on are in all widescreen dvd releases, so don't give this product a bad review just because the theatre format is slightly different than a widescreen tv's format. This is my favorite movie/movies of all time, and the fact that they are finally out in Blu-Ray makes them even better. This product has all of the things I want (Great movies in high definition) and doesn't have much of the stuff I don't care about (DVD extras, commentary, etc.). Awesome trilogy.

    TLOTR

I have a widescreen television. Why must I continue to have black bars at the top and the bottom of the screen. Please don't suggest zoom because you know it changes the ratio. Wish movie studios would adopt the same widescreen format for all movies and eliminate the black bars for widescreen telvision.

    Not the Extended Versions!

I am a big fan of Lord of the Rings. I told myself two years ago that I wouldn't watch them again until they came out on blu-ray. Needless to say, it was painful to see that, when they finally did, they were only the theatrical versions. I am very disappointed that I have to longer.

    Completely Stupid

This is completely stupid. I have all the extended version DVDs now, and I like them much better than the Theatrical Version. I was hoping for them to be extended version, but their not, so I returned them and will buy them when they come out with the extended version.

I enjoy The Lord of The Rings Trilogy very much. With the advanced capabilities of the Blu-Ray Disc, the extended versions should have been include with the set! Other than that it is a fantastic set, the included letter opener is very nice.
