In my research I was trying to determine the best camera solution for my situation and after reading up on wireless systems, was really drawn to a wired system. For one, wireless is only the signal, you still have to get a power source to the camera, so it just seemed like the same amount of work at a higher cost and possible interference issues with the signal. Install went smooth, had an issue trying to use base station over HDMI, but I think it was the issue with the TV I was using not the base station, ended up using the VGA input. Camera out of the box records continuously, which is what we were after, so not having to set anything up and just going with it is awesome! I only docked 1 star off the rating as the software is pretty crazy to wrap your head around. This is a full on pro security system, so its definitely going to be more robust than say a Nest system, which is what I was initially considering, but didn't like the idea of still having a subscription to keep backups. All-in-all I really like the system. It does come with the ability to watch from your smartphone/tablet and PC. Only 3 devices can live stream at a time and it is not in Full HD. There are actually two streams being recorded simultaneously and the sub-stream is a lower resolution for mobile devices. I have not had the opportunity to set that up yet. Out of the box I was able to use 3 of 4 included 60' cables. My base was not located centrally in the home but in a bedroom, so one run was nearly double than the other. I used the Swann 100' cable at BB and it worked great, however, it was White, wish it were black, but it only has 2 inches exposed. Ended up needing using 4th 60' cable after all when Installed one camera as I didn't pay attention to how I ran the cable in the attic and shorted myself. Rather than rerunning I used the splitter from the Swann 100' and used both Lorex brand 60' for a total of 120' and no signal loss or quality issues. I can definitely see the allure of the Nest and equivalent wireless cameras and I can see only recommending those if you need 1 or maybe two as setup is pretty simple. Thankfully cost deterred me away from them, but in reality it wouldn't have worked because the size holes required for the power adapters to go through soffeting/siding/brick would have been 1" or greater for the power adapter off of the pig tail. So in the end I saved a big headache I hadn't considered. Highly recommend this setup if you are needing 3 or more cameras, don't want to pay extra for storage. Install is super simple, just depends how clean of an install you want as to how much cable hiding and in the wall routing you want. For my setup I installed on my vinly soffeting, the cameras are really light and do not cause any bowing. The pig tail comes out of the center of the base so it can be concealed or it also has notch in the base for coming out of the side to still keep a clean look.

These four cameras are excellent right out of the box. We now have 360 degree view of our property.

I Like wireless but ok if you don't want wireless!
