5 star reviews should mean it's flawless, and this is not. But it's pretty good. The quality of the camera is nice and clear. It seems to capture motion pretty easily and I love the constant recording aspect. There are a lot of settings that I need to tinker with before I complain but one thing I noticed immediately was the motion area. It doesn't work at all. I blocked off the portion of my neighbors backyard so it won't record when they are outside, but it doesn't work. Had to call Lorex and they said to enable the smart motion detection (smd) which means I had to create several boxes of areas that I wanted motion to be detected. That seems to work but a whole lot more work than just removing boxes like I should be able to do. Night vision isn't great but the spotlight comes on when detecting motion so that helps. All in all, it's a pretty decent device.

Love these cameras. Have held up very well, and recordings are clear, with good resolution. 3 TB recorder stores for about 8 days before overwrites. Use with 135VA UPS, so have not had any down time. Does take a little reading to set up, but not too difficult. However, i have been in the electronics/computer world for over 50 years, having my own computer business. A non-technical person may need some help setting it up. However, it would be worth the effort. I researched many different brands before deciding on this one. Like the features.

I've been running this Lorex system for a month now. I'm really happy with my setup. I tried an Arlo system and returned it within a 2 days. Did not care for dealing with batteries. Running the cables for this system took some extra time, but it's well worth it. I'm a fan of being able to configure the system to my needs and the Lorex system definitely delivered. I took advantage of the available functionality to configure each camera based on it's location. The 2TB NVR is plenty of storage for 4 cameras. It's an 8 channel NVR, but I would consider more storage for more cameras. The mobile app is very intuitive. The images on the phone are excellent. I'm still trying to master the mobile side of the functionality. Notifications are totally configurable.

Pro's
- Good image quality (4K)
- Reasonable night time performance
- Deterrence/light built into camera
- No major app/sw issues. Able to access video reliably/no crashes
- Camera body seems to be cast aluminum vs. plastic, solid mount to the wall and adjustable relatively easily
Conn's
- Weak object detection/classification. This makes is poor when in an area such as a house where backyard/front yard have a lot of motion. While it allows for motion fields to be configured, its ability to reliably detect between people/vehicles is poor. This means that the event logs are huge (and can't realistically be viewed daily) and notification's can't be enabled as it would just ping all day long. For example I had tree moving in wind flagged as either of these, people detected as vehicles and vice versa.
- With weak object detection, you really can only let it record and pull up the logs/video when you know something has happened vs. being able to get a notification proactively on an event unless you really do expect very little motion such as a loading dock at night when nobody is supposed to be there.
- Camera's get warm to the touch
- No mounting houses in the bottom to attach to the wall, you'll need to mount flat or get a cable box mount/Velcro it
- While app support is there (I use iOS), I wasn't able to use a PC to get to the data
The NVR version is a step up in price over the DVR version, while image quality is good and the software meets basic needs - wish there were better ways to triage the data/event logs

I just return my arlo ultra after struggling with it for couple months now, and i bought Lorex which is true 4K!!! It’s mind blowing if you don’t mind running wires this is basically plug and play it is power by a cat5 wire through your nvr modem. Can use with your hdmi or pc...also has an app. You get instant alert with its tricker by a person, motion or vehicle. Plus it records 24/7 with a 2tb hard drive Im in love with this camera and referring all my friends and family to buy this! If you want real security camera this one is a must have you will not regret it!!!!

The system is okay (and overpriced) for what it is but the software is terrible. The software is just plain crude. Nothing is in an obvious place. There's a lot of feature and because of that anything you need is behind a different menu or setting that what you need. What makes this a bigger issues is when you need to access the system through different devices, the interfaces don't correspond with each other and you can't technically be signed into other devices at the same time through one account so that sucks. You can use mouse and keyboard with the nvr so you probably want to do as much as you can through desktop.
If you're looking for devices to just work than this isn't for you. Nest can automatically separate people and other moving things. Lorex tries to do that. You won't be able separate whatr yoiu get notified about because it's inaccurate.
PAY ATTENTION TO THIS: If you and someone else has the app, the settings are being controlled by the both of you so the other person can turn notifications off for the both of you.
I'm not trying to be long winded but this is a complicated system. The biggest perk? It comes in a bundle and you can take it back to BestBuy. That's something you can't do with Reolink, Night Owl or BlueIris

I have this system at home and at work. I’ve installed 3 of these systems in total. Installation is simple, given the cameras are power over Ethernet (POE) and only require 1 cable. The LED lights are a nice feature and the night vision works great. I was surprised at the video quality of these cameras. Definitely worth the money. The Lorex app had improved greatly since I set up the first system.

By far the Best Investment and purchase. Well worth the money.High Quality. Installation was easy. The App you download on your phone to view anytime you want is also easy to use. Perfect product.I recommend. If your not home and see someone on your property you can sound the alarm or talk to them through you phone and record. It automatically picks up any movement on your property. It can detect if its a vehicle or a person.

I have owned security camera systems for over 20 years. I have them so good and so bad. But when I decided to upgrade to this type of NVR system by LOREX ........wow what a difference it makes
The setup was easy and the connection is pure quality
The only thing that I must say is that upgrade the cables to CAT6 or CAT7. The cables that come with the system are no sheilded and that isn’t good. Folks
But once I upgraded cables it like lifting a thin veil and seeing for the first time ......AMAZING
The nice thing about these systems now is when set your alerts or alarms it can set for subject matter. People and cars .....
So no false alarms if the wind blows or some bird
To sum up ....if you want a QUALITY PRODUCT THIS IT FOLKS
GET IT .......be prepared to feel safe again

Seemed like a good product except for the fan noise. In most cases this might not be a problem, but in this case the recorder was installed in living room. Needed to be quiet. Read some about it and it appears that there are quieter fans available, but afraid changing the fan would violate the warranty.
Only connected one camera and was not real happy with the image quality, but the included cameras are not equitant to $500 video camera and the replacement cameras video quality was no better.
Would recommend it if you do not mind a little fan noise
Returned and purchased a different product.

Awesome! What can you say when it is 4k. This is an awesome system for full control and access monitoring. The 4k is so clear that it is easy to see license plates clearly. I also connected some Lorex 5mp cameras to this system as well. Although the 4k is way better for clarity, the 5mp cameras were smaller for the area that I wanted to mount. This system has FUSION so very easy to add wireless cameras as well. The CAT5 cables are 100 ft long and I had little problem in tucking under vinyl siding and under eave trim for installation. Connected to 4k monitor. I use the Lorex home app to monitor all cameras and alerts on android phone. See video reviews online. Upgrade from Night Owl system.

Been using this system for a while now and it works well. The user interface is a little tough to figure out and trying to navigate the time line take finesse. IF you're going to use the app. Read it carefully when adding a 2nd user. Other than that picture quality is great and the viewing angle gets me covered very well. I plan on adding 2 more cameras.
