This was used as a replacement for a previous commercial product that had failed just after the warranty expired. I purchased this because of the IP 4K cameras and they were easy to install and set up. This system is far easier to use, set-up and configure then my previous system. The images are significantly better than my previous system but - regardless of what the ads say - do not provide a color image during the night time. That's one reason I scored this less than a "5". Overall the system installs, configures and performs as advertised. I was happy with my purchase and would make the same purchase again.

Purchased this system to setup in my home because POE is definitely a must for how my home is constructed. would have loved to give this system its fair shake however! was never able to power it up because they sent me the wrong power supply in the box. Contacted Lorex and they were less then helpful 4.5 hours on the phone (mostly on hold) between two days and they finally processed a new power supply to me however in order to expidite it it took 5 departments! Then today i received the new power supply and lo and behold its again the wrong power supply. I specified to them that the power supply that was required was a round 4 pin 48V 2A plug and they sent me a single pole power brick! they have 0 customer support! If you need replacements for what they sent you incorrectly in the box do not contact technical support contact customer support they will not help you if you do.

Easy set up (minus running the ethernet wiring) and use. Excellent picture day and full color at night (with the minimum illumination).

I bought this back in June and I must say that the clarity even at night is great! Easy set up, and the app is a great tool to have. The only thing is the subscription service for unlimited back ups is a little on the expensive side at $14.99 per camera per month that you want to back up.

My Lorex system was installed professionally, and a job well-done. I do have issues with one camera going off & on, plus the 'recording time' reverts back to Eastern Time. The installers stated that 'I' would have to call Lorex to have them help me fix these, and other issues...

This system is really plug and play. Hardest part was crawling thru the attic to run the wire.

Great cameras but I wish they had sound. The DVR can accommodate sound but the cameras can't.

Easy to set up and use right away. much better picture quality than the 1080P. Worth the upgrade. Zoom in picture quality is not what I had hoped for based on the commercial. Tried to zoom in a license plate 60 feet away and it was a bit blurry to read. Bigger the camera lens the better the picture zoom ability. Overall very happy with Lorex.

Originally posted 1/18/18 day after purchase. Today is 2/16 and again I post the EXACT same review Wow! I ordered this system from Best Buy so I could return it in the event of a DOA or I did not like it. I was concerned about all the negative reviews on the net for customer service and DOA cameras out of the box and there is nothing I hate more than mailing my stuff back with an RMA! I can say the Lorex/FLIR product AND the support team have far exceeded my expectations in every way. And I have pretty demanding expectations. The system was 100% out of the box. All cables present, all cameras worked perfectly, and the NVR unit was awesome. It is so easy to setup on the network, on your phone, and on your computer I could not believe it. My mom could set this up. Seriously. Gone are the old days of static IP and Dynamic DNS. Scan the QR code in the app and you are done. (Basically). Cameras - The camera performance is awesome. Incredible video at 2K and the night vision is good as well. When you can give it some light at night the color at night feature is un-real. I am re-doing my lighting in several areas as a result of this. Out of the box 3 of the 8 cameras are perfect color pictures at night, due to that area having good lighting of course. The camera control and settings menu is very comprehensive and easy to setup and adjust. Recorder unit - The NVR unit is awesome. Small, quiet, and provides PoE for all 8 cameras. I will have to update the hard drive to 4T or 6T to get the retention I want, but who cares. 3 years ago a system like this would have cost $3000 or more. Lorex is awesome across the board in the way the NVR works and the cloud features. Channel 1 is going up to the cloud, perfectly, without any support calls, etc. Then I can view this on my phone historically to prove this video is in the cloud. If I have the bandwidth and want to send Ch. 3, no problem. Cost is minimal and easy to setup. Playback and searching is easy and you can export out clips and pictures easily. You can even add a 2nd hard Drive for redundancy. Warranty – where can I start? So it looks like this is only a 1 year warranty, when in fact if you sign up at the Lorex site and register the unit (Which you have to do to have cameras on your phone) you get a free bump up to 2 years. Some users even get customer satisfaction surveys and that takes 3 minutes to fill out and bumps you up to 3 years, FREE! Now any manufacture standing behind the unit for 3 years out of the box has my vote day one. So I paid a few bucks and extended the warranty on the entire system for 5 years, for less than half the cost of a single camera. Awesome job Lorex! Support – Phone support is always there, I have called with 2 or 3 questions for clarification and these guys are right on it. They were able to quickly sell me the upgraded warranty and hard drive. Overall I have been very impressed with support and most people do not know this parent company is very large and makes military products. Lorex / FLIR is no joke. They seem to stand behind this product IMHO! Awesome job on the customer support LOREX! Summary – In closing I would highly recommend this unit to anyone and I am sure Lorex has a product SKU for you if you need dome cameras, bullet cams, 16 channels, or only 4. And the features and performance is exactly what I was looking for. Great Job again Lorex! -Tom 2/16/18

Lorex is a well known manufacturer of security surveillance systems. Cameras show crisp, vivid color pictures and videos. I now feel I have that added layer of protection around my home. I am truly happy and satisfied with this purchase.

works great , extremely clear cameras and was easy to set up. Phone app works wonderfully and also easy to set up.

I call Lorex twice about connectivity to my iPhone and can't get live picture. All I get is email notifications but don't know what's happening at home. I'm gonna have to return system, also video from cameras don't look sharp during the day and at night time you can not tell whose there

This system is just okay.. it is very user friendly. The clarity is not what they advertise. It is very difficult to still recognize faces. The color night vision doesn't work like they say it does unless you have a lot of light on outside at night and even then still not clear. If you want a great security system I would go professional.

Had a Night owl dvr before but always had issues with drive. So far Lorex is running smooth time will tell. 4k nvr is the best way to go.

An industry leader! It was the right price with top notch features. 4K out put when connected to a 4 K TV.

Had qsee cameras and this cameras are better the definition and they are very clear

Stay away!! On my second 8 camera set. The first system failed got a replacement after calling Best Buy corporate. Now a year into the new system the cameras are failing. Horrible quality no reliability. The app is also rated poor and fails. I have an extended warranty from BB. Usually on hold for min of 2hrs trying to get someone to service the system. The Geek Squad protection plan is a waist of money.
