This does not provide real security as the cord needs to be concealed unless you want to drill through your siding and the cord is only about 4 ft.

I purchased this camera from Best Buy about 2 weeks ago so I have been using the camera for a couple of weeks. I would have rated the camera a 5 except for three things. For me the camera was very difficult to set up. I had to modify my phone's wifi settings for it to work. Item 2 There is about 10 seconds of latency or lag between the time an event happens and you are notified. Item 3 There is also a lag in viewing live footage in the app. These issues should be fixed with future firmware/software upgrades and I have notified Lorex of these issues. The camera itself is very good. Large field of view and good picture quality. Very few false alarms from moving plants or shadows. Also Smartzone works great for blocking field of view areas from event notification. Event notifications consist of Person, Motion, and Sound events. Very nice that it tells you a person triggered the event. The camera also keeps a solid connection to my WiFi router. I have had no issues with the camera losing signal. Also if you unplug the camera, Lorex notifies you the connection is lost. When you plug the camera back in it powers up connects to my WiFi router and retains all its settings. As an FYI, this is not my first WiFi security camera (I have 2 others of a different brand), so I do have some experience with security cameras.

Bottom line up front: Basically, it does what they say it will do. The app and web portal might seem a bit quirky at first, buy play around a bit and you'll get the hang of it. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase! (I compared it to the Nest and Arlo cameras in my research. The Lorex has what they cumulatively lack: onboard storage, no-delay recording, free cloud storage, better than 1080p recording.)
Here's a list of details not found in the instructions or brochures. To the folks that wrote the instruction sheet....would it kill ya to include the details in paragraph 1 below? Makes you wonder if any of them actually installed one.
1. The "leader" hardwired to the camera is 48" long and passes through the base for a completely clean install. There is also a notch in the base if you need to route the wire along the exterior wall. The power cord (small wall wart that plugs into any 110v outlet) adds another 10' of wiring.
End of the leader is a female DC connector 1/2" in diameter. Recommend 5/8" bit for all holes. (A 1/2" mason bit will create a large enough hole in your mortor, but you will need a slightly larger wood bit to get it through plywood.) The included anchors for the mounting plate require 5/16" or 3/8" masonry bit. Good news is the mounting plate holes are such that you can put all your holes in the mortar (rather than the bricks).
2. App has noticeable delay on my IPhone 5s, but is much quicker on my wife's IPhone 6. For viewing on your computer ("web portal"), go to www.Flirsecure.com and login in to your account (created via the app during installation).
3. Video camera is always on, but only records when detecting motion, sound, or when you tell it too via the app or web portal. When detecting motion, the recording actually starts a few seconds prior to the event so you get it all. This is a major advantage over the battery powered models that seem to miss the first few seconds while turning on the camera's video.
4. Based on my test recordings, when record is activated, the camera normally produces an mp4 file at 1080p and 10 frames per second (default setting in the app). Result is approximately 5MB for every minute of recording. The included 16GB card has room for 50 hours of such recordings. If you increase the recorded resolution to "4MP" or 2560 x 1440 pixels via the app, the results are virtually the same! Despite the increased resolution, it appears the recording is made at a similar overall bitrate.....about 700 Kbps.
5. Recorded events accumulate in a searchable list. If a lingering list annoys you, you can only delete them one at a time---and then only while viewing them. My guess is that reformating the SD card will rid you of that list....except for what is maintained on the cloud (2 or 30 days worth depending on your plan). I can't test it yet since it seems that I have a 30 day trial of the premium plan (30 days of recording). And I can't see anywhere in the app or web portal where you can see what is on the card vs on the cloud.

Camera image is on par. Camera streaming on Lorex Secure app needs major improvement. Layout is good. Streaming would disconnect every few minutes. They are at least a year away for prime time. Tech support said this camera is new and it seemed they have little knowledge about this line. It's also only available at bestbuy right now. It's also manual pan tilt, by HAND. The title is misleading. I've now gone through 6 cameras trials and this Is by far the worst.
You can ONLY use LorexSecure to view footage. This is NOT an ip camera. You CANNOT use a third party app to view footage. Also at $15.99 per camera / per month to save to the flir cloud - it would get extremely expensive. What are you thinking Flir?
Flir is trying to mold this like nest, arlo, canary, ring. They are light years behind
Don't waste your time.

Excellent camera. Image quality is fantastic. App is easy to use and effective. Motion sensor works well and audio is good. Only down side is only records motion or if press manual record. Can't do continuous recording like on hard drive but ok since only using an SD card

Have had this camera for about a month now and it was extremely easy to setup following
the step by step guide. Very Good picture quality and
Auto motion detection is accurate.
When it gets dark out and it switches to night vision it
automatically sends me a notification for motion detected. I would recommend this product.

Bought this camera for the quality and viewing angle. Downloaded the app and the camera took forever to pair bluetooth and wifi. Set up was done but app said camera not connected. Called Customer Service they said they would call back never did. Called again this time waited on hold for 25 minutes for an agent to answer, no luck. Returned it bought 5MP Swann system. So far happy with that.

Spent 2 hours on the phone with Lorex because this unit would not connect to the internet. I tried with 2 Apple devices and 1 Android. The customer service rep was so frustrated he told me to return it...I took his advise.
