For those who have not played a Lumines game before, I would describe them as a bit of Tetris with music elements as well. Blocks fall down from the top of the screen and you rotate them to try and match up like colors, which then destroys clusters of blocks. As you move the blocks back and forth you also cause different sound effects that mix into the music. Each stage, or skin as they call them in Lumines, has unique background music. Some of the music is really catchy and adds to the fun. You might hear songs from artists you already listen to, a lot of it is techno type stuff, LCD Soundsystem and Chemical Brothers have music in this game. Some artists you might know well and others maybe not so. The way the gameplay and music come together, this game is really a blast to play. Those are the basic game mechanics I described above. Lumines does offer different modes to enojoy, you can also unlock the games skins or backgrounds along with the music, as you play through the game. One mode lets you arrange unlocked skins however you want, allowing you to play through the game using some of your favorite skins and music. The graphics are very vibrant and really pop on the Vita OLED screen. This is also a great game to play with a nice set of top notch ear buds to enjoy the music and sound effects. I like this game a lot and suggest it to everyone. It is nice to have a insert and play game that doesn't take too much to get into, when looking to pass some time. It is easy to pick up and hard to put down. I hope my review helped, enjoy! I personally loved Lumines one and two on the PSP, so a new Lumines game for Vita got me excited.

I used to be a Tetris Addict and this game fills the void. Pretty much a modern day version. Fun game for those of us not coordinated enough for some of the more advanced games.

A little disappointing. I was expecting more, or hoping to be hooked right away, but that didn't happen.

I was expecting this game to be another spin off of Tetris with a small twist but what I found was a lot more. The game is to match 4 blocks of the same color, 2x2 squares and there are only two colors. This may sound easy but the blocks change color and shape based on level. It becomes more difficult on the levels that have similar block color and a weird shape. The background comes to life as you progress through the level and selectable power-ups shake up the game play quite a bit. The difficulty will scale up and down so don't get frustrated on a hard level. There is usually a really easy level behind that one to slow the pace and give you a chance to remove some blocks. Another great community co-operation is the "World Block" where everyone around the world has only 24 hours to remove a block with a combined size of millions of game blocks which resets daily. The first couple weeks, us pre-order people who recieved it a week early couldn't make a dent in the block. On public release day, we destroyed that block in less than 3 hours. The soundtrack is mostly New Wave, House and Techno. You'll create and unveil the song as you play as well as make the background come to life. Definitely a great puzzle game with replay potential.

This tetris-inspired franchise adds another solid entry. The idea is to bring 4 or more blocks of the same color together to eliminate them and earn more points. This is done with music playing in the background that is affected by how well you are playing. This is an addicting puzzle game that has adds a unique twist on the tetris formula. However, this game lacks any real different game modes, thus becoming a bit repetitive.
