This is an excellent film for beginning French students. There isn't a lot of dialogue. Jacques Tati was a mime so his comedy is visual. It's a story about a man who goes on vacation to a seaside resort. There are various characters at the resort. Monsieur Hulot is a very sweet, kind person who manages to irritate practically everyone in the resort with his mishaps. The only one who isn't irritated by him is the prettiest girl in the film. She finds him to be genuine and not pretentious as are many of the young men trying to woo her. Some of the scenes are quietly pleasant and funny. His car is a joke. Funny film. Great characters.
