Very happy that I went with a mini. Everything has worked perfectly the M1 chip worked better than I expected. It does have a few glitches but nothing that makes me regret the purchase.

All in all, it is a great fast machine. I use it for photo editing and seems to be able to keep up as well as my RTX 2080 machine, at least in photo editing. Great for browsing content and Apple silicon applications! The good: + It's fast and snappy + MacOS Big Sur is a joy to use (IMHO) + You can photo edit + Legacy Applications work! I am even able to get homebrew working using Rosetta 2 + Super fast on time when sleeping + Able to host an iMessage Server to have it on my Android device Some things I wasn't to fond of was: - I really wish the 16GB model was here. 8GB isn't enough - Although Rosetta 2 is great with the Legacy Intel Applications, they sometimes will freeze (only have happened 3 times in 3 weeks of everyday use) and use a lot more memory compared to the Apple Silicon apps. - Bluetooth connectivity to my keyboard and trackpad will sometimes disconnect. But not enough to where I am annoyed, but should be mentioned. I would recommend it. I think to, most of these issues are just small bugs that will hopefully be fixed in upcoming updates.

My at-home office has two desks; one for my WFH setup with a Windows laptop and two monitors, and a second with my aging 27” iMac. The Mac needed to be replaced but wanted to eliminate the second desk. I decided to try using a Mac Mini on my WFH desk to leverage the existing two WFH monitors without taking up much space. I debated getting a 16GB version, but I decided that my personal use didn’t need to drive as many pixels as a gamer or an influencer so it ultimate chose the 8GB version. Setup was a breeze and all of my Time Machine information from my external hard drive transferred to the new Mac Mini seamlessly. The Mac Mini is super fast. My only complaint so far is that the built-in speaker is very weak. However, I can use AirPlay to send the sound to the HomePod Mini that is on my WFH desk.

Awesome computer for daily tasks and browsing. Tough to get things that aren't apple to work like external drives, specifically when migrating data but other than that pretty good value for apple here.

I am very happy with the new Mini Mac 2020! Bought my own keyboard and monitor for long term investment without spending extra money for future upgrades. This Mac is powerful and affordable. Probably the best value for your money if you want a Mac computer for home use.

I want a Mac desktop that won't cost a lot of money, the M1 Mac mini is the best thing out there for iOS app developers. Most affordable of Apple's new crop of Macs, and delivers huge value for the affordable price.

Great bang for your buck! The new M1 chip really is incredibly powerful. Set up is very easy; however you will need to additionally purchase a keyboard, mouse and monitor (if you don't already have one). If you already have an apple computer that you are upgrading from the transition is very easy and seamless. You can copy everything from your old Mac to this one very easily and quickly. This computer never has gotten to hot with with everything I've thrown at it, nor has it ever gotten loud. It runs incredibly quietly. If you want an exceptional Mac desktop (also very easily portable), with the new M1 chip, small footprint, and an incredible low price than this computer is certainly for you. Even at just 8gb of ram the new M1 chip makes all the difference and you will not experience any lag while working with multiple programs and windows open.

Really like my new Mac mini M1, it is really fast and I'm able to do all my work on it and that includes video editing with Davinci Resolve, man it was rendering a 20 mini video at 280fps and that includes some Fiarlight some audio processing plugins added, the heaving edited parts with title animations averages about 25fps unbelievable speed. Everything else works great. Note: Don't put your Mac Mini under a metal monitor stand or it will kill the Wifi and Bluetooth and you'll have problems if your using a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I got the MX Keys for Mac and the Logitech Triathlon mouse and both of these work with Windows as well, but switching the MX keys between Mac and Windows does not work very well for me. 8GB of ram is plenty and it only writes to swap space went using Davinci and having other programs open and it doesn't slow down, some people complain this will shorten the life of the SSD drive, but I check how long it will last if the Mini is writing to swap and the suggestion was between 10 to 12 years so probably I will be upgrading long before that happens who know. All the software runs great except for Cubase 11 which is un-usable BUT I know Steinberg will fix it and it should be smoking fast after that hopefully. P.S. Cubase 10.5 works from what I read on blogs. I use Logic Pro as well because Cubase and Logic are both two awesome tool and they go hand in hand for me and I love the AI drummer, I've written a lot of songs with Logic and the AI drummer and it's fantastic. So would I recommend the Mac mini M1 oh ya without hesitation go for it. It is a sweet, sweet machine and runs fast and cool and doesn't make any noise. Thanks for reading this, hope it helps you out. God Bless

Apple has ruined me for all other PCs

Apple has ruined me for all other PCs. This little computer is my daily workhorse. I use it from my work-at-home job all day. It runs silently, never feels even the slightest bit warm, never asks me if I would like to recommend MacOS to my friends (I'm looking at you, Windows 10 and 11 and your annoying, built-in ads), came with practically all the software I'll ever need, and runs all my work-related software without any problems. I typically only reboot when Apple rolls out upgrades requiring one. Otherwise, I just swipe the cursor down to the lower left screen corner (courtesy the Magic Touchpad and a little MacOS thing known as "hot corners") to lock the computer and put the screen to sleep when I step away from my desk. I wanted to get a PC to supplement my at-home work, but with Citrix and virtual desktop options my job offers, I really have no need. In years past, I've lost countless hours maintaining and fixing my Windows computers. Since buying Macs, I simply use them then walk away when I'm done. The M1 is a marvel making this Mac mini fast, power efficient and 100% silent and cool to the touch. Built-in Wi-Fi means I can put it anywhere in my home. Even the box it comes in is a tenth the size of a fully unpacked Windows PC. Get this computer!

I upgraded to this from a late 2014 Mac Mini. First the good. The speed of this mac M1 is fantastic! Start up from off is less than 20 seconds. Most things work perfectly. Apps start up very quickly. The computer runs very cool and is totally silent. On the down side - The one issue that many users complain about is the lack of ports and their location on the back of the mini. I plan to fix that with a hub. I have found that there are some compatibility issues that Apple will probably fix in future updates which is why I gave this computer 4 stars instead of 5. I had no issues with the exact same hardware on my previous mac mini. When I wake up the computer from sleep my Logitech bluetooth mouse works for about 15 seconds then freezes. Turning the mouse off then on is the fix and the problem it's gone until the next time the computer wakes up from the next sleep mode. My Logitech webcam c920 doesn't come on with the native Apple apps like Facetime and Photobooth. Apple support couldn't fix this issue. I have to open Facetime, the webcam lights up but but there is no video. Then shut down Facetime wait a few seconds then restart the app and it works perfectly fine. Apps that I installed that asked permission to use the webcam like Zoom and Logitech Control Center work fine. I'm also having some minor alignment issues printing envelopes using Pages with the M1 and my Brother wireless laser printer. My fix is using my Windows computer when I need to do that.

Bought this as a replacement for my other imac that lasted a little a decade (if i can get anywhere close to that with this one, I'll be happy). I use it primarily for recording/editing/listening to music. My only regret is not going for more memory and storage space but other than that, its been great. You can add external drives for more space but you cannot upgrade the RAM so keep that in mind.

This is a solid entry level Apple desktop option if you already have a monitor, keyboard and mouse laying around. I got it to save wear and tear on my Apple MacBook Pro. I use it as a work computer - web browsing, MS Word & Excel, Zoom, etc. and at that level it's really good. The much lauded M1 chip is faster I guess. I'm not noticing that it is markedly faster than the Intel i5 in my MacBook Pro. That said - I'm using almost exclusively legacy apps for work. I.E. Programs not designed to run specifically on Apple silicon so maybe I'm missing something here. I find that I'm still getting low memory warnings if I have too many google table open (drive, google docs, g-chat, etc.). Google apps are notorious memory hogs but I was still disappointed to be getting these warnings on a new Mac mini. Moral of the story - if you're gonna have a gazillion tabs open and work a lot in the google ecosystem, you may want to opt for the 16gb memory option. I have dual 1080p Samsung monitors hooked up to it and the display is great. The mini can support up to 4k 60hz displays but I simply don't need that quality of resolution for a work computer. Overall - I'm satisfied with my purchase. I wish it handled the heavy lifting of having a gazillion tabs and apps open better but it's not a deal breaker. If you are looking for an affordable Apple desk top and already have all the peripherals this is a great choice. Also good for someone wanting to dip their toe into the Apple ecosystem without spending a fortune. Possibly the - literally - coolest thing about this computer is that it's all solid state....no moving parts....so there's absolutely no noise and it doesn't generate any heat. Be aware that it only has 2 USB A, 2 USB C, 1 HDMI & Ethernet ports. If you have a ton of peripherals you'll need a dock or adapter.

This is a big beast in a cute little package. I was nervous about getting this as I work as a production artist using Photoshop and Illustrator. This thing out performs my laptop with 16gigs of ram. It's super fast, and even intense graphic use doesn't slow it down. It's worth EVERY penny.
