Extra storage not worth it
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To start the laptop is awesome no complaints there. But I would recommend getting the 512gb model with the lesser processor unless you are going to be using this as your primary workstation. To preface this I got this on sale for 2k and I really wish I could of gotten the 16” since they were the same price but if youre fine with a little smaller screen it’s worth it.

Good workhorse. Sharp images. No USB plug
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgrade from my 8 year old MacBook Pro. I wanted one with bigger screen and more memory for photo editing. A well performing machine. Sharp images. I'm still figuring out differences between my old MacBopok Pro 13" and this one, so I'll be able to comment better in a month or two. Tried to plug in my CD/DVD player, and realized there is no USP port. Not happy about that!

Quick and Quiet
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First MacBook disclaimer. - I bought this because the fit and finish is so good - Went with the pro model because I wanted more power than the air. The air probably would have been fine for MOST of what I use this for - Wish there were a little more crossover in the App Store, love using my iPhone with the interoperability, but lots of apps are iPhone and iPad only - The screen is awesome, the keyboard and trackpad are awesome - I probably could have saved some money and do a little more gaming with a Windows laptop, but I wanted to give this a try - I've run into the annoying spinning wheel a couple times, but I think it's on apps that aren't yet optimized for the M1 chip - Overall, this thing is quiet, quick, and fun to learn a new OS, didn't go 5 stars because I think I could have gotten more machine for my money. It's really nice, but maybe I should be using a Windows laptop...

14inch M1 Mac book pro
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s a fast computer with a very long battery life. I think the 8/14 model is a better value but the 1tb storage is very nice. The display has a fantastic range of color however I find it collecting a lot of dust from the keyboard. The build quality is very solid, easily the nicest laptop I’ve ever owned. If you want to run windows on the computer the best option is paralleling, Boot camp is not available and there’s a lot of doubt that it ever will be.

Not good for 4K h.265 raw, needs more ram
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first one I bought didn’t turn on had too go back and get a new one, it’s ok just thought it be a good idea too mention it, now too the important details, this computer is NOT for PRO’s this is for everyday YouTubers or people who record in 1080p at max, if your somewhat a medium level video editor like me who uses a fancy cannon r6 eos you will need to know that camera uses a special codec that is h.265 raw either 4K or fhd, this laptop will play back the video ok but once you start adding effects and using temporal denoiser for example I use davinci resolve 17, well it will start too struggle when it comes too color grading and it will suffer in the fusion tab as well, this is not enough ram!!! You need at least 60 of ram, I should of known better I thought this M1 chip would solve my playback and editing work flow but no it’s actually not powerful enough, the solutions to this isssue is simple though so get the model with the most ram you can the least you should get is 30gb ram but trust me the more the better, also I do not know how this laptops work but you will also need a lot of VRAM meaning the graphics card inside the laptop needs to be powerful enough too run 4K raw files, this laptop by the look of it runs only on a cpu??? I’m guessing?, nobody tells you this when your starting out and I wish somebody would of taught me this, in conclusion of you have a fancy camera that shoots raw h.265 codec this BASE MODEL will NOT WORk, ok hopefully this helps some one that is starting out in the world of 4K video editing!! Oh and I ended up returning it.

Great accept for the missing connection type
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for multitasking purposes so far so good on the issue that I experience is the lack of USB 3.0 connections not everything is USB-C leaving me to buy hideous dongle’s sticking out the side of my beautiful MacBook. Apple sure knows how to not think of the necessary connection types for these types of multitask Computers . Also the screen hinge is not as tight as my early 2015 macbook, its always tilts on its own when I move my macbook from workstation to workstation, irritating maybe I should stop multitasking with my teams and stay put in one workstation, hahaha not gonna happen!

Good, but not excellent
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Contrary to many reviews, I’ll be honest with some more nuanced use cases- this device, along with Apple Silicon devices in general, are not completely ready for prime time. Yes, it can be extremely fast (if running applications with optimized code for ARM architecture), but when it comes to running code optimized for Intel devices (which the vast majority of applications are), this Mac’s reputation quickly becomes less than stellar. Rosetta 2 is not all Apple touted it to be. Virtualization is also not great on Apple Silicon devices as well. Most users won’t really notice too much, but there are a lot of “pro” use cases that makes this MacBook Pro not as good as it truly should be. Also, paying this amount of money, you would expect to be able to have a laptop with at least 32GB of RAM or more, but that’s not the case here. This MacBook Pro does have an excellent display though, and it’s nice that Apple finally listened to users and reduced the amount of “dongle hell” that we Mac users have to experience (still no USB-A ports though).

Big Improvement
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great laptop. Big improvement on the keyboard from previous butterfly keys. Having the ports back is also very helpful since you do not need to buy all of the different adaptors anymore. The performance is also very quick and the battery lasts fairly long while running multiple apps in the background.

It's cool I suppose
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's cool. My first mac ever. It is blazing fast, battery life obliterates my Dell XPS 15 for sure. I have not used it to It's potential, but the screen and speakers are insane I will say. I can see myself having this for quitr a while.

Crushes my two year old 8 core i9 MacBook Pro
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.M1 Pro chip is really quite good. Compared to my 2019 MacBook Pro with 64GB of RAM and an 8 core I9 processor this thing destroys it. Was worried about the "notch" but honestly don't ever even see it. Even with a hidden menu bar it's just not a real distraction.

Great laptop with excellent performance
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Preface this with the fact that I’ve been a Mac and PC user for ages. Also work in an industry that sees many Macs come and go. This is a great laptop for students and adults. For those that do video editing, I would highly recommend it. Even for less intensive tasks, this is still a good machine despite the price tag. Expect this to last for at least 5 years and then some.
