Customers are delighted by Mafia II's engaging gameplay and immersive story, frequently praising the game's compelling narrative and enjoyable experience. The game's setting is enhanced by its fitting music and the selection of vehicles available. While some found the difficulty level varied, a common criticism was the limited number of additional tasks beyond the main storyline.

I loved the story in this game. I thought it was very interesting, except for maybe the end of the game which was a little weird. The gameplay is also very well done, with almost no gliches at all and amazing weapons and you really get the feel of the 40's and 50's in a New York/Chicago place. The length of the story was a little bit shorter compared to other games, but it was long enough for me and I will keep playing to get all the achievements. The graphics were also better than the games I have played recently. One bad thing that stood out through the game however, is that it is not like GTA because there are almost no side missions. There is free roam, but there is not really a plethora of things to do besides go into clothing stores, gun shops, smash cars, etc. This game also is somewhat easy. I played on hard mode, and I had little trouble. Overall, I think this game was great.

Mafia 2's story is nearly the games focus point.Set in the 40's and 50's Vito has return home on leave from World War II.Vito joined as a way to avoid jail time.Vito finds out his father died and left the family in debt.Vito reunites with his old friend Joe,and quickly joins a life of crime. The game is told through chapters. The game features a open-ended map, there are no side missions before, during, and after the game is over, but you can collect magazines and look at the pictures inside. The games guns are the same as the era the game takes place in, Tommy guns,Colt 1911,MP 40 and so on.Interacting with objects in the environment involves 2 action buttons standard action and a violent action, for example, when stealing a car,you can choose to either pick the lock or break the glass. The controls are good even when hiding behind objects such as walls, and crates,to shoot enemies you must flank them. The music is also a good tie in within the world,it makes you feel like you traveled back in time. The graphics at times felt a little dated, but it's the right style for the time.So if your a Godfather,Goodfellas or any gangsta movie fan pick this game up it will not disappoint.

Mafia 2 takes place in the 1940s to the late 1950s. It is kinda like the "Godfather" if you've seen it. There alot of cars to choose from, to drive around doing missions and what not. It is also kinda like Grand Theft Auto. Storyline is good, and there is alot of weapons to choose from as well, such as the Thompson, MP-40, Grease gun, Colt 1911, 357 Magum and more!

Don't get me wrong this is a great game, the setting is awesome, the graphics are great, the story is very interesting and immersive, and overall its a very fun game. BUT it only took me three days to finish the game and I only played it about 2-3 hours a day. The game is divided into 15 chapters and usually there is only 1 mission per chapter, so I would recommend you pay $8 to rent it, instead of paying $60 for a game you'll finish in a few days.

I am reviewing this off of the demo and I have to say I am impressed. I had no intentions of buying this game and had really not even checked it out so I was pleasantly surprised when I played the demo just to see the other day. I am now going to buy it. The 50's music is great, and the detail of the city was very good. Driving was a little tough to get used to but not so sure it wasn't on for the cars I was driving. Hand to hand was a lot of fun, especially when I picked a fight with a guy selling newspapers and got in a good combo and was told to hit the b button which treated me to a spectacular finish move of a punt kick to the guys face as he was trying to get up. If you like sandbox games I am sure you will like this.

This is obviously a GTA clone, and it hits a lot of the same beats. The gameplay is not as good as GTA 5 and the graphics by today's standards are ok at best. The controls are fine but not as tight as I would like. The story is pretty solid, but there is way too much pointless driving. Recommend on a sale.

honestly the first MAFIA was one of the best arguments in a game i saw, i mean its so well ambientated, it was great in textures renders and graphics (at that time of course) and car driveing was so realistic compared to the cars back in 1930's this gonna be like a played goodfellas movie timed on the 50's i think that the main character will be sooo Ray Liotta, haha
i hope that they make a real master piece like the first one was

Mafia 2 is an open world game that didn't need to be open world. The story is excellent but the whole city is just there to make you drive and contains virtually no side quests. Shooting isn't great but it's passable. I had a great time with the game for the most part, but a lot of my time playing felt empty.

Solid story but lack of extra contents, such as side missions. If you like GTA, you'll like this game. Don't expect hours and hours fun like GTA.

Don't expect an "open-world" type game; this game is linear. Also, it's very short. I did it in less than 20 hours, and I'm a very casual gamer. Most others I've heard have beaten it in 10 hours. Other than the main story, there is very little else to do in this game. Sure, you can purchase weapons when you get the chance or buy a very limited selection of clothes for the character, but other than that (except trying to locate Playboy magazines or Wanted Posters) the only extra things to do is drive around and shoot innocent people.
I would say this game is more of a game you should rent, not purchase just because it is so short.

I had a lot of fun with the game, story is really immersive with the characters really a lot of , especially love the voice acting on Joe....the gun fighting and driving are a lot of fun and overall the game was really up my street. If you like Sopranos, goodfellas like me you'll love this...
Also should mention the period sound track is awesome

Sorry, I love games even more if they let me roam freely afterwords. The game is great though. Old guns and cars, a deep, meaningful story, dynamic and somewhat dysfunctional characters, and detail far as the eye can find in this game, from fixing your own cars or maintaining a proper speed, to turning on appliances and light switches to bribing cops and driving that feels more real than anything GTA can do. Defiantly a fav.
