Customers frequently mention the fun gameplay and engaging story as major highlights of Mafia III. The open world and action sequences also receive positive feedback, with many praising the game's value for its price. However, some players point to issues with the driving mechanics and artificial intelligence. A few also noted that the gameplay can become repetitive after a while.

This game has some great moments. In my opinion, better than GTA, with a better more relevant story.
The graphics and gameplay are so fun with endless opportunities to play and replay.

If you love GTA type games this will be up your alley. No, it's not anywhere near as good as GTA but it's still an awesome game and the story is really good. The new Orleans based setting is really cool

Great 4k Graphics and amazing styled game. Very much like GTA but with a unique spin and looks amazing in 4k. Probably the best and only open world 4k game on consoles right now.

Mafia 3 is sort of a Grand Theft Auto clone. Plenty of side missions as well as the main story line.
Game graphics are very good.
Vehicle driving is a bit Arcady and the vehicles take damage, but not much for the collisions you encounter. You can select different driving views from cockpit to behind distances. This is NOT a game for kids. Its full of Racism, Bad Language ( and the developers do warn you of this prior to playing it )
But this only adds to the games storyline. There are all kinds of collectibles, including Music Album Covers, Hot Rod Magazines ect., BUT... you will find yourself searching for the 50 Playboy magazines ( each having a actual real Nude picture to view !!!! ) as well as numerous exotic nude "Vargas" drawings laying around throughout the city. This game has brutal murders with graphic knife kills, cutscenes and gun kills. You can upgrade and customize your vehicles and choose from many different weapons that a weapons dealers will deliver to your location in a van.
While driving vehicles, you have radio stations playing which you can choose from and the soundtracks are AMAZING!!! One of the best of any game I've ever played. I enjoyed just pulling the car over to the side of the road to listen to the whole song at times....its that good!!! Overall I highly recommended this game. I bought it at Best Buy for $24.99 and its worth every penny.

Great Presentation & Visuals

I had never played the previous Mafia titles, but have seen friends and family play the different versions so I became interested in trying this one out. If presentation is a big thing for you in games then this one is for you. The detail in motion capturing and voice work is something else. Graphically it's one of the most impressive games I've seen on the console. From a gameplay standpoint it's a hybrid of stealth and action games. Although nothing from the gameplay jumped out to me as "This is insane!!!" it's a very solid package that should keep you entertained as long as you're interested in the story and the characters.
Note: This is not GTA. You have to follow traffic laws, and the tone of the story and the world is definitely much more serious and no "nonsense".

Been playing a lot. Love the graphics and the story line. Hate the driving. Not sure if it's not realistic or just not that good. Only down side is that to me it doesn't have the exact feel as the other two before it.

Mafia 3 is a very good (Adult) game with a good story. Based in what would be Louisiana in the early 70's where your character, Lincoln Clay, an African American man fresh in his return from Vietnam has to deal with a not very warm welcome, not only for a soldier, but also as an African American, where in the south, were still not fully accepted. Solid game play, smooth controls, great graphics, and an AWESOME soundtrack make for an enjoyable game where you can easily spend a few hours playing without a break. Not quite up to par with Grand Theft Auto V, but still worth a purchase if it's on sale, which I did at $39.99.

Story, voice acting, graphics all outstanding. Gameplay a little too repetitive. All in all a fun game. Set pcs for story missions were done well but enemy AI is pretty bad.

Great game but not game changing. Tons of action like it's predecessor but at times repetitive and boring. Still a very fun game with good graphics and decent story.

I enjoyed this game.
The writing is good. The characters are great (from the impressive voice acting to the precise mouth movement).
The atmosphere is superb. It's almost like you become a black man living in 1960s New Orleans. People are racist and kick you out of shops while almost everyone has something to say about the main protagonist's race. No sugar-coating here.
Also, I personally loved the driving and combat mechanics of this game.
On the other hand, game play does get too repetitive. After a while, you are left grinding just to get to that next cutscene that furthers the plot and makes the game shine.
This repetitiveness hinders your enjoyment of the game.
To make things worse, the ai is somewhat robotic in their predictability. While it is fun sneaking around, choking out unknowing victims, then suddenly erupting into a huge firefight, there is literally no suspense as you know exactly what they will do next.
Truthfully, the game would have been rather short if it weren't for the grind.
All in all, however, I was pleased with this purchase. There are multiple endings, and the after-credits just make me more excited for the next installment of Mafia.

Great graphics and controls. The main story is one of the best in recent years in sandbox action games, but do not waste time with repetitive side missions.

Let me start off by saying that the storyline of the game is fantastic. The game manages to explore social issues in a meaningful way that's deeper than anything I can think of at the moment. IF ONLY 2K spent a few more months working out bugs before releasing it. The game crashed twice during missions, and there were numerous cover glitches and weird physics problems. Hopefully a patch will be released soon, although I've already beaten the game so it won't really affect me.
Also, don't expect state of the art graphics. GTA 5 is two years older for the PS4 and is superior in graphics and gameplay, so if you are expecting a GTA clone, this isn't the game for you. Don't judge the graphics by the cutscenes as they are pre rendered (which inevitably means that if its night when you get to the cutscene it will be daytime during it). I will say the cars are more realistic than GTA 5 in terms of handling and driving, but as far as detail and damage, they don't look much better than Mafia 2. Another important note is the missions can be a bit repetitive.
Overall I would say the game is worth playing, but only if you get it for less than $60. I have gamer's club unlocked so I got it for $48. I'd wait for a black friday deal, and hopefully they will have made glitch fixes by then.

After years of waiting for a new Mafia release, this one did not disappoint! It is a totally different storyline but it still has the authentic Mafia feel to it. The graphics are great and the controls are smooth.
I won't go into much detail about the plot, I will leave that for you to enjoy and discover. My review and 5 stars are based on performance and playability. This game draws you in quickly, especially if you are a Mafia and Mafia 2 fan.
If you were unable to be a part of the real life Mafia experience this is your next best option ;) The best part is you don't really have to die or goto prison! This is a campaign only game , online multiplayer of some sort would have made this game epic! I will hope for that option to be implemented into Mafia 4 :)
Buy a copy today, you will be happy, Deluxe version or regular, you will still be buying a great, addicting game.
Enjoy!

So i picked up this game knowing it was hit by critics as being repetitive. I got this for a great deal while on sale and figured to give it a shot.
Pros:
Story - The best part of this game is the story. Great voice acting and the story makes sense! I am very invested in the story. The protagonist is very believable and you feel empowered playing as him.
Gameplay - The gun play is great here. Reminds me of Max Payne 3. It is very pleasing! A variety of weapons and upgrades (albeit simple) add some variety.
Graphics - The graphics fake you out nicely. While i find the game actually has a fair amount of rough edges, tearing and other issues, the game does a good job of showing a visually appealing town.
Cons -
To be honest, just one.....repetition. The game puts you in many situations (flipping racket bosses / informants, interrogating guys, saving others, destroying properties and gangs). However the way this is implemented is all the same. That said, the reptitive time you have is fun. Despite being a gamer who usually only plays a title at a time, i recommend playing this game along another title. You may find that you get a little bored at times and need to break the monotony up with something else.
Summary - The Mafia series always struggled with gameplay. The story was always rock solid and the immersion is excellent. But the lack of creativity really shows, and it is disheartening.
