Best Baseball game i've ever played.

This game is great. You pitch and bat with the right stick, its a little difficult to get used to. But, when you do get used to it, the game is a breeze. The achievements are easy, and i like when you are fielding you deterimine the accuracy and speed of your fielder's throw. I also like the feature that updates the rosters to up- to- date. This is a must have for any baseball fan.

The game was pretty fun and had fabulous graphics. I have played it quite a bit but if you try to play a couple games in a row it will start to get fairly boring. If you like baseball though it has all the big deals on the teams they are supposed to be on(except Pettite is not on the Yankees). For example the Yankees have the big three signing, and the Phillies have Ibanz. I really would recommend this to any baseball fan!

Terrible Baseball Experience

This game is probably the worst baseball experience you could possibly ask for. I can't wait until Gamestop opens tomorrow so I can trade it in.
1. Graphics are terrible. The players all look fake and the faces are a joke. I am using an XBOX 360 on a 52 inch HDTV and it looks like I am playing a bad PC game from the early 90's.
2. Players are all over the place. They walk a few steps and then "magically slide" in several random directions. The movements are jagged and do not look real at all.
3. Stadiums and fans are really not that good. Once again the stadiums look much worse than in 2K7. The fans move a bit more in 2K9 but why the do they spend all that time on the fans? What about the game? What about the graphics? What about the gameplay?
4. The game is way too easy and has no pitching strategy at all. The ball you use for aiming the pitch is WAY too big and allows for no imagination in pinpoint pitching. I played 4 innings of a game and had no pitches that were not hit somewhere. I think in those 4 innings I had 2 where I threw a total of 6 pitches. No strikeouts, no walks, just contact with the ball. Not realistic at all!
5. Why did they make the menu system so hard to use? Why not stick with the buttons that EVERY OTHER GAME USES? I had to spend 15 minutes to just figure out how to use the menu let alone start a game.
6. They add new ways to throw and hit EVERY YEAR. if they add new controls they need to make them OPTIONAL and keep the older controls for people that like them.
7. Too many close ups of players, too much of players walking around after plays and no way to just press a button and skip the extras. You have to pound the A button around 4-5 times just to make the pitcher stop roaming around after getting a hit and get back to the mound and pitch.
MLB 2K7 was a great game. They should have just stuck with that and improved on the minor issues the good game they had. Instead they change the game entirely and get it all wrong.
I am officially done with 2K sports. MLB 2K7 will be my Baseball game regardless of the rosters now until I get a PS3 and give "The Show" a chance.

Maybe if there was more competition, the developers would try harder rather than upgrading last years game. We're playing with the pros, they shouldn't just mull around a dropped ball. The cutoff man is a waste of time, you're better off throwing directly to the base. You shouldn't have to purchase their scouting reports with online access. Half the features in the game aren't explained in the manual or game help screens. The color commentary repeats after 3 games and when you turn them off the stadium sounds are more like a minor league game. Go to a real game guys, what's with the browngas clouds when you run bases?

this game is great it was worth my money though for instance batters going up to bat are huge compared to the rest of the team mates in the dug out, characters go through walls at one point too, but overall a good game, if those mistakes were not in there it would be perfect

Best MLB game ever

Well all who play mlb you remember that last year was the worst game ever. I have only played the demo of this years game but it is the best by far. The crowd actually gets excited when you win a game or hit a home run. Also they will go after the ball if hit in foul territory. The commentary has also changed which was good because John Miller and Joe Morgan where just getting boring and making the game not good. It is also easier to master swing stick and pitching. Well thats all and i hope this helps you to make the right decision.

I bought this game expecting something great since I am a huge baseball fanatic. Then after I went to load my franchise save file the next day, the game froze. The only thing to do was start over, so I did and it worked fine. The next day, tried to load my file and the game froze again. I took it back to Best Buy and got a new copy. Played it and it worked fine. Got to about the 5th game in the season and tried to swap out my starting pitcher for a reliever and the game froze again. 3 times I tried playing this one game and each time it froze with the pitching change. Outfielders still have trouble picking up balls on the ground and players still run in slow motion to catch fly balls. Outfielders don't always catch an easy fly out. They let it fall behind them and they run after it costing runs if the computer had men on base. I finally gave up and traded the game in for something completely different. Don't buy this game and I suggest you boycott all 2K Sports games since they don't seem to care about releasing a quality product.

The Show is better

Im really thinking about getting a ps3 and buying MLB 09 the show. My opinion is that 2k9 has gotten worse than last year. This year team 2k tried to make their baseball game look more like their basketball game which is really good. One thing i didnt like is when you create a player you cant give them a batting stance and it gets boring.

Everyone is saying this game is horrible, but I still ended up buying it and I like it alot. It's definately not "The Show" but since it's the only MLB game for XBOX it's not a bad choice. There's a few minor glitches, mostly when they show your statistics when you're batting in franchise mode, an example is when I had Dustin pedroia hitting it would say "MVP 217" instead of "MVP 2008). Other than that it's a great game, it's very fun, and once you get use to the pitching and hitting it's definately worth the money.

The whole game is full of glitches, from pitcher throwing when you don't want to, to not being able to throw a guy out because of the faulty throwing mechanism. Graphics are sub-par, with some Mr. Game and Watch graphics glitches. PLEASE rent this game before you buy it, I am glad I did.

Best 2K baseball game by far

Last year when i bought MLB 2K8 i was really mad at how bad the whole game was and hated it. This year i was hesitant to get 2K9 but decided to get it, and im so glad. I am a big baseball fan and this game is amazing. There are no big complaints but the only thing is after every play there is a lot of waiting time and u have to tap A a couple times. But if that is the only problem, compared to 2K8 THIS GAME IS aMAZING! must have for any baseball fan.

Do not waste your money on this game. Instead demand that XBox come out with a 1st party baseball game that rivals the Show for PS3. This game freezes continuously and the patches they come out with make the game worse that before. The game cannot even get the years right. For example when Geovany Soto is up in season 1 it says that he was 217 Rookie of the year. Shouldn't it be 2008 Rookie of the Year, what is 217? The freezing makes this game unplayable. If you buy this game you are spending your money on a game that you can't play. It is a waste.

this game is terrible! the pitching has no control, the batting is cursor is worthless, players disappear randomly or do strange things during a play, the controls are far to difficult to comprehend, and the font is so small when your trying to figure out what the heck to do, you can't read it. I hesitated to buy it, but since it's the only baseball game out for xbox, i took a chance. I'll remember to never buy another 2k sports game again. save your money, and don't buy this game.

The game constantly freezes. I am now to the point where it will not load my franchise. I spent time on message boards from 2k sports, and found many other people with the same problem. I contacted customer support from 2k sports, and after 2 weeks received a response that did not answer my question, but solicit x-box live. I am warning you do not buy this game!

I purchased this game a week ago excited to play seen the commercials and was very excited until i played it myself. far too many glitches and the controls are horrible . It is impossible to strike out most palyers and everything hit is a homerun. I would not recommend this game and regret spending $60 on it.
