As a Tech Professional for 20 plus years, Malwarebytes has always been my go to software for PCs that are slow or that have possible Trojans or malware installed. My first step as yours should be, when trying to fix a slow pc, should be this software. It will remove all the malware that is on your PC. Install is fast, it auto updates and removes items lightning fast. The help desk and knowledgebase offered by Malwarebytes is top notch. I would also recommend signing up for any email updates or notifications if possible as they are top of most items as soon as they hit the internet. After installing I usually instruct my clients or friends to run this 1 or 2 times a week, just to keep things in order and to stop drive-bys or time bombs that install themselves after infecting the PC. This software live monitors your activity and does so with no noticeable slow down or degradation of PC speed. The real –time protection for the premium version offered has, web protection, Exploit protection, Malware and Ransomware protection. Scanning offers 3 types; Thread which is best and most thorough, custom scan you configure yourself and hyper scan that scans memory and startup files lightning fast. When malware is found it is thrown into a quarantine area that you can delete or restore from just in case there was a false positive finding. The settings menu has a multitude of choices or options once installed, multiple application, protection, scheduling, Exclusions, are configurable. Malwarebytes offers software for many platforms such as PC, Mac, Android. They also offer a multitude of Business solutions. Including: Security, Protection and incident response. For technicians they offer a Tool set, and a awesome community and the opportunity to be a re seller if you are a PC tech business. If adware (pop ups, toolbar's etc.) are a problem for you they also have a free adware cleaner for you. I have seen many wannabe malware software applications come and go but rest assured Malwarebytes is here to stay and has your back!! I have this installed on all my devices as well as those of my family. I highly recommend this to anyone with a PC.

Comprehensive Layers of SECURITY Added to Your PC

I was a loyal user of Malwarebytes in the past, but not for last several years. I just assumed that the newer versions of AV programs were comprehensive enough to include the kinds of things Malwarebytes always secured me from. Boy, was I mistaken. After receiving a complimentary issue of Malwarebytes Premium for review, my very first scan proved just how wrong I was. Malwarebytes found eighty-one assorted threats to my home office, desktop computer. And, I use the latest, updated, national AV program money can buy. I was always impressed how Malwarebytes protected my PC's from spyware, adware, malware, phishing, and other malicious unwanted applications and programs. Now, in the latest, Premium version it even protects me from ransomware, which has made many worldwide headlines, lately. After a week of using Malwarebytes software here are my Positive observations: ** Easy to Download and Install – Package contains one medium sized card (4 1/2” x 9”) with Installation Instructions along with a License Key. Keep in a Safe-Place for future reference. You can also download a CD if you prefer. ** Malware Protection for Three of your PC's for One Year - Suggest you download the software and install on up to three of your PC's the same day for expiration date. ** Real-Time Protection – Malwarebytes takes preventative action on your PC's as the threat is 'active'. It utilizes layers of 'behavior-based-detection' instead of a data base of known threats, which constantly needs to be updated, after the fact. If Malwarebytes finds any threat or suspicious file or program, it will immediately inform you. ** Threat Scans are Quick – It took approximately 3 ½ minutes to scan my entire one terabyte hard drive and associated files. Threat Scan is recommended, and, fast. ** Malwarebytes displays messages instantly when threats are detected. Yellow for threatening and red for dangerous. ** Malwarebytes Uses Little CPU Resources – This is NOT a bloated software program and runs in the background almost unnoticeable. However, my older laptop with smaller memory and dated CPU does take longer and more resources to scan. ** Malwarebytes Runs Smoothly Alongside Existing AV Programs – I installed Malwarebytes on my desktop, and my two laptops. No conflicting issues whatsoever. ** Automatic Updates – Runs in the background and is not noticeable on newer PC's. ** Exclusions – For whatever reason you may have you can set an exclusion to not scan a program or file from malware or ransomware protection. You can do this manually in the 'Settings' options under the tab 'Exclusions'. ** Malwarebytes can still be used on Windows 8, 7, and the ever-popular XP Windows systems as well as Vista. My older laptop is a Windows XP version and I still use it. ** Heuristic Analysis – Detailed summary of the scans time, findings, and actions. Malwarebytes Homepage Options: *** Dashboard - Gives you details on your Real-Time Protection, Scan Status, and Protection History. *** Scan - Gives you choices of Threat, Custom, or Hyper Scan. You can set the exact time of day for your daily scan. Malwarebytes scans every 24 hours. You can configure and customize each of these scans individually. *** Quarantine – All of the malware items listed under Quarantine can be deleted, and, or re-activated if you so choose. *** Report – All of the items listed here are the details of your most recent scan. *** Settings - Automatic Updates in the 'Settings' menu, this is a default selection. If you have an older computer like one of my legacy laptops, use the 'lower priority scan choice' in Impact of Scans on System to use less CPU resources. However, the daily scans will take much longer. Some of the negatives I encountered using Malwarebytes: * Adware - Malwarebytes does not stop all of my nuisance adware. Some came back again, again, and again. * Custom Scans - Can appreciably slow down my fastest computer's speed. * Paid Subscriptions - After a year's worth of protection, I will have to pay a new fee to protect my PC's for another year. Don't “roll-the-dice” with the safety of your PC's. Anti-Virus protection alone may, or, may not be your “best-bet”. Malwarebytes has proven itself over the years to be a 'trusted' product in the prevention and removal of the behaviors of malicious applications. Many competing products do not offer these same layers of security. It is the best anti-exploit software out there. The additional layers of protection provided by Malwarebytes works along side your existing Anti-Virus and provides you with a more comprehensive approach to protect your PC's. I highly recommend the purchase and use of Malwarebytes 3.0. It is impressive in malware detection and removal compared to all of its leading competitors. Do your research – you will find Malwarebytes is the most effective compliment to your existing Anti-Virus security. I did!

    Easy to use cybersecurity option

Being that my primary personal machine is an Apple MacBook Pro, I don't find a whole lot of use for PC virus protection. Do Macs get infected? Yes. They certainly can, but they aren't as susceptible to attacks as PCs. That said, my work computer is a PC tower and I do have a personal HP laptop that runs Windows 10. And, even though I use it sparingly, I do want to ensure it's protected. So, I installed Malwarebytes on my machine. The cybersecurity software is designed as anti-malware, anti-ransomware, anti-exploit, and as malicious website protection. The package I ordered and received is good for 1-year of service on up to 3 PCs. The funny thing to me is that the software is still delivered inside a box - just like it used to be when users had to have a CD or DVD of the software for installation. Today, you can still request that from the manufacturer, but you are expected to download the software package from the Malwarebytes website and then use the license key, which is provided on a card that arrives inside the box. In fact, that is all that is inside the box other than some supportive cardboard on the sides. In my opinion, this is a completely unnecessary. If you place an order for this product or purchase a license, I feel like it could easily be sent to you by email or at the most, in an envelope. There is no need to produce an entire box just to hold one piece of paper. I had a few false starts getting the software package downloaded. As it turned out, my computer was trying to do Windows updates in the background. I want to point out that the software package is around 80MB in size so it could potentially clog your internet connection if your system is trying to update in the background. After I ended that task, the software downloaded with no problems. I opened and installed the software and then entered the license key. It worked flawlessly and I ran the scan within a few seconds. Fortunately for me, there were no problems detected. As a default, all the protections are turned 'on'. You can choose to turn them off, but I don't know why you would want to do that. Inside the app settings, you can adjust the scan schedule, level of protection, application settings, exclusions, and you can also view your account details. I like that you have so many different ways to view the protection on your computer. I've seen some cybersecurity applications that have overly complicated menus and they just seem confusing to me. Malwarebytes is easy to use and easy to read. I probably would have given this product a 5-star rating had it not been for the packaging.

    Great Malware System

Installed Malwarebytes on my computer which has a major Internet Security Suite installed and layers of security and ran the first Malwarebytes scan. The scan checked 350,000 files on my computer in 22 seconds, it is fast. Interestingly Malwarebytes detected 36 PUP.Optional.Spigot.Genric (see pictures below) and marked for quarantine. A PUP is a “Potentially Unwanted Program” which has been installed without your knowledge or a program you installed yourself. PUP’s from my view are a mixed bag which Malwarebytes goes after aggressively, and I like that as there typically many that I do not want. If you run the scan and detect PUPs I would suggest checking what the programs are before hitting the nuke (quarantine) button. Scanned the quarantine list and did not see anything that concerned me, so quarantined all 36 and have had no bad side effects. If you do have an issue you can restore the program from quarantine. Have been running Malwarebytes along side my Internet Security Suite for over a week now and have not noticed any noticeable speed hits, like that. After the first scan over a week ago have not detected any further PUPs loaded onto my computer. Just ran Malwarebytes a few minutes ago for my review and found that the system needed updating. That was bit surprising as the computer had been running for about three hours. Not sure if did not check for an update (which it should if it is running in the background) or if there had been a new update released since it last checked? I like Malwarebytes and the extra protection, it brings to our system, it is a Very Spooky world out there and protection is a Good thing. Malwarebytes appears to be a tightly programmed system which leaves small footprints (usage) on your computer, it is fast and not noticeable running in the background. The Reports are easily accessed and will report when Malwarebytes has Blocked Websites (another very good thing), scan results, etc. The reports are easily understandable. Has an excellent range of settings for managing the system and customizing to your needs. If you are like me and want to plug the holes to your system give Malwarebytes a spot on your computer. Thumbs Up.

The installation of the Malwarebytes program was quick and painless. I went to the website provided in the installation card, downloaded the software, installed it, and made my first scan within 3 minutes with a 100 Mbps down speed. After installing the software, I was presented with a screen for a 14 day premium trial which gives you full access, as if you purchased the product. Feel free to try it out for yourself before you buy, no credit card required for premium access trial. The key feature of this software is to clean an infected machine from malware, prevent malware infections, stop ransomware attacks, shield vulnerable software, as well as block bad websites. The performance the key that was included in my subscription applies for up to 3 computers. The box specifically says that it is for Windows 10 (32 or 64-bit), 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, and XP. It uses up to 250 MBs on your computer, so it isn’t a large install file. Internet is required to download the software and to keep it updated daily, hourly, or even as specifically as any minutes of your choice. Scanning was quick and easy and the use of the software is self-explanatory within the tabs themselves. I will deduct one star from the registration process, though, as it required me to click on “My Account” and enter my personal information, but after doing so, it didn’t recognize that I had activated a key. I was presented with a message reading, “You don’t have any subscriptions right now, but if you purchase one it will appear right here.” However, the code subscription that came in the retail box was valid for 2 more PCs (3 total) if I input them manually to each computer. The Malwarebytes meets my expectations. Even though it is labeled for PCs on the box and the word MAC was nowhere to be found, I went to my mac and browsed the Malwarebytes website for the Mac download. After finding it, I downloaded the file and installed it on my Mac. I was surprised that on the Mac, it offers a 30 day free trial. Regardless, I tried the code from the retail box to activate it and it worked on my Mac as well. I don’t know if this will change in the future, but for now, I was able to scan my Mac and it actually detected a malware and asked if I wanted it removed. I did so promptly. The price for the software in terms of value is great if you plan on installing it on 3 computers, as each computer comes out to 20 dollars for the year of protection. What I did was take a picture of my code and saved it to my Google Drive in case I lose the paper in was printed on. I recommend this product for people who have at least 3 computers and want to protect them against malware. It is better to be safe than sorry when it comes to PCs.

Great security suite. Easy to install. It doesn't come with a cd, just a keycode and a website you can download the latest version. Once you install you enter your code and the product is registered. You can install it on up to 3 PC's. Really great program and very light, didn't slow down my PC at all. The registered version (this one) leaves a background scanner on so it protects you in real time (the free one doesn't). Will highly recommend, specially these days with so many malwares that can hijack your info for payment in example.

I've been using Malwarebytes Premium for about two years. Installation is easy no matter the device (I use PCs, Android smartphones, and Kindle tablets). I love that I can quickly and painlessly configure the options, protect with a password (for the kids' devices), and have peace of mind that Malwarebytes will pick up threats that anti-virus misses (think Chrome extensions that your kids install). Its light, resource friendly, and won't drain your battery or keep your hard drives spinning for hours. HIGHLY recommend.
