Great basic software
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This software package is pretty basic but is easy to use and effective. My first impression is that there are few bells and whistles. Competitors might have additional software features, this is essentially just an antivirus, and malware scanner. There is no firewall, no password tools, no safe web tools, it is bare bones. That is probably its greatest strength though. What it does, it does very well and with little resources as unobtrusively as possible. My first scan found lots of crypto mining files it tried to quarantine but it was very easy to mark them as safe. I had some initial confusion as my Windows Defender was enabled alongside Malware Bytes. I found a setting in the menu to register the app in Windows Action Center so if you choose you can have Malware Bytes as the primary antivirus or work alongside your existing software. I tested it running alongside Windows Defender and also with McAfee Antivirus and I had no stability issues or conflicts. This software works very well as multi-layer security if needed. You can also run it by itself but since there is no firewall your system will default to Defender Firewall. It is hard to say anything bad about this software if you are expecting a streamlined antivirus app. That is exactly what it is, if you are looking for lots of extra software features I would look elsewhere. This is now my default app on my laptop since it uses almost no processing power in the background and only takes up 46 MB of RAM keeping a small footprint while providing real time scans still. My old antivirus used a few hundred MB of RAM and constantly used some processor use draining my battery a little quicker. I am overall happy with Malware Bytes.

Can't Go Wrong With Malwarebytes
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using malwarebytes for several years now. They've done nothing but refine and improve this program during that time. Pros: This program is great for removing malware and unwanted programs. It's not a virus scanner but can find threats that virus scanners may not. The program isn't too heavy on the resources considering it has live web protection. Three different scans: threat, hyper, and custom. These are great for when you're in a hurry or after a period of heavy use, want to do a deep scan (threat scan). Priced competitively. Cons: Not much to say in this category. The physical copy is just a paper insert with a product key and a link to download. Kind of a waste of packaging. Some may want an "all-in-one" program instead of specialized software such as this. I've recommended this program for years and years. It's always in my PC toolkit for helping family and friends to keep their PC top-notch.

It just works!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of those pieces of software that just works and its a must have for any PC. You can literally install it in a matter of minutes, you don't have to change a bunch of settings and your computer will be protected from lots of online threats. If you pair this along with a good antivirus program you should be completely safe on the internet no matter what you are doing. I know my way around a computer very well, so after installing this piece of software I went to some sites that I knew weren't very safe just to test it out. Every single site it was blocking pop-ups, warning me that things weren't safe, and not allowing me to do things that would damage my computer. I was also able to very easily run a scan on my computer after installing it and within a matter of minutes the complete scan was done and it warned me of a few threats that were already on my computer and it fixed them for me. As I said before, this is must-have piece of software for computing in this day and age to be protected. From advanced users, to complete novices, this software is very easy to use and will keep you protected! I would highly recommend this to anyone with a windows PC. I know I will be renewing my licence for years to come!

A Great Addtional Layer of Defense
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using Malwarebytes for years. Not as my main anti-virus engine but as something to catch what my normal anti-virus missed. Now with real-time and additional Enhanced protections this is a great product to add to my computer defense layer. It plays nice with Windows Defender (Windows 10 default Anti-Virus) and adds a second set of eyes to help protect my home PC's. There is no one piece of software that will keep you safe, but I find Malwarebytes additional protections raises the bar to protect my home PC's. Now I can't give a complete security overview. I'm not equipped or knowledge enough to rate the product in that manner. I can say though on the two PC's I added it to I didn't notice it. It didn't add performance hit that some other products might. It plays nice with Windows Defender (my default AV program) and hasn't impacted either PC. Overall that's all I can review. Its a simple product to install, lightweight that it doesn't add a lot of overhead and adds an additional layer of defense. If you are looking for more security this suite will go very well with your default AV protection of choice.

Best Tool to fix and combat the computer nasties
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Plain and simple, I have been using Malwarebytes for almost as long as I can remember... I have used it to restore my computer to health, after it has gotten spyware or malware. Over the years, it has kept up on curve with those that are out there trying to do your computer harm. EASY to use... Just let it run, and it will either auto-cleanup, or give you the options to do so. This paid-for version (There is a free version you can try out), allows you to run 24-7, so it stays up to date, and continue to monitor in the background. They are CONSTANTLY updating the definition file, to stay up on what ever is coming out there. Traditional "Virus" are not really a problem today... why, because everyone has anti-virus software. the bad-guys are not writing "virus" programs, they are writing programs that spy on you, or that want to lock you out, or get you to pay for something that is going to do nothing but get rid of the message that THEY put on your screen. TRY Malwarebytes for FREE first, and then come back and get the paid for version if you are happy with what it does for your computers

Its good but why they removed life time licenses
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used this software in past and now multiple times and had good success with it., especially if you want to remove some bloatware. It surpasses all other typical AVs in this aspect. It is light weight, does not slow down the machine; but on one of the machine I tested, I did noticed that I was not able to log back in; it could be combination of disk encryption/defender/malware bytes but that did not happen once I removed malware bytes from that machine; so there is for sure some compatibility and I accept that; I just wish that the installer tells you about that in advance. Just good experience. They used to have a great life time license model but have now gone to yearly pricing model, like all other AV products. My only gripe is how much I can recommend it over say Avast Free (which is another fantastic security product); malware bytes is for sure better in removing those browser specific plugin which all AV considers benign. I'd say, if the user you are looking to buy security for is not tech savvy; perhaps it is better to buy malware bytes. If the level is moderate or above go for Avast Free. And no matter what software you are deploying; do not give your users admin access.

Working great so far
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ive used the free version of this software alongside Norton Security, and the two programs have played nicely together for me across several different devices for quite some time. Malwarebytes has always been very light on my system, and there did not seem to be a significant change in background load when running it with Norton, so I was very confident that running the full Malwarebytes program alongside Norton would go as smoothly as it has. Both programs seem to readily detect certain things faster than the other, so between both programs, my computers (especially my gaming laptop, which I use most often these days) seem to actually run better with both programs running. Malwarebytes is a bloodhound when it comes to web surfing/web protection and live threats, and does so without all of the crazy toolbars and add-ons that Norton typically tries to install on browsers. On the other hand, Norton has been excellent over the years at quickly blocking or catching registry attacks and preventing overall system instability, no doubt due to how extensive the Norton network is and the PC threat data analytics attached to that. Malwarebytes uses a live behaviour-based threat ID system that seems to be benefiting my devices in a way that Norton and other programs have not done to the same degree thus far. Norton identifies new threats fairly quickly, but sometimes has to clean them up after the fact since it does not identify threats in the same manner as Malwarebytes does, whereas Malwarebytes may lack the data of Norton but more than makes up for it with the behavioural analytics it employs. I'm giving it a 4 since I have yet to solely depend on Malwarebytes alone, but it is a very strong 4 since it has an intuitive user-friendly interface, is not a resource hog on my devices, and since Ive completely and regularly seen its unique comparative benefits in action. I definitely recommend Malwarebytes, although from my perspective, it seems to work best in tandem with a compatible antivirus program.

Best Malware Software I've Used
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Has rootkit and ransomware protection if you turn it on. A lot of customization if you need it, but fairly easy to understand. Can setup the type of automated scans you want and when. 3 PCs for one year under one license makes this a pretty good deal. I have used this Software in its various forms for many years, and have a few computers on the older "lifetime" licenses before adding other family computers on these 3 pcs for a year licenses. Real time protection works very well, and can add exclusions if you need to. This software also works fairly well alongside other software in the same general category, like many dedicated antivirus programs.

Great protection
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After years of depending on the free version of Malwarebytes to save me after the fact, I finally upgraded to the paid version an its real-time protection. Even running regular antivirus software and trying to keep as safe a websurfing practice as I can, plenty of malware gets through. The first scan found a few unexpected adware programs and a browser hijacker. Gone now, and I feel plenty safer. I also bought a license for my father in-law, who, with his need to respond to every single email that comes his way and click on every single popup, needs as much protection as he can get.

One of the best protection programs out there
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used the free version of Malwarebytes for as long as I can remember. It's been a 'must install' anytime I get a new computer. The free version has always been great at finding viruses and things that shouldn't be there, and has saved many a system for me in the past. I'm happy to report the full version is worth the upgrade cost. After using it for a couple of weeks it is easily the best real-time protection I've seen. The install is particularly easy--if you've never used it before it's a very fast download and quick install. If you already have the free version installed like I did it's simply a matter of entering your purchase code. Once that's done you'll want to run a full scan and let it quarantine what it finds. After that it's basically "set and forget." It will monitor your web activities, and block any malicious sites or codes you unwittingly try to navigate to. If you want to be more involved there are a ton of customization settings you can apply. You can set scan times, reports, updates, etc. For the most part I've set it to do everything automatically and it's mostly unobtrusive. The ONE setting you may want to consider is the "impact of scans on system" setting. My one knock on this program is that running a scan is incredibly system intensive. On my laptop the scans can use almost 70% of the CPU when running, making it almost impossible to do anything else. Changing the impact setting reduced this by almost half....but the scan took almost twice as long. It all depends on what you need to do, of course, but it's very handy to have the option nonetheless. This is basically a "no-frills' program. Many other programs offer "clean up" options or optimization options, but in my eyes that means Malwarebytes concentrates on what it's designed to do, and frankly does it better than most other programs on the market. Overall this is one of the best online protection programs I've ever used, and I highly recommend it.
