Tripod
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to purchase a new tripod to use my Opteka gimbal-style head. My old tripod didn't have a removal head. So, I needed something that was sturdy and heavy enough to hold my 400mm lens for my D200 Nikon camera. I like trying to take pictures of birds and thought this combination would be an economical way to go. I sure couldn't afford the Wimberley one! The tripod is a little heavy for me to carry around, but I didn't want one that was so light it would fall over either; so, the weight of this one makes me feel secure when having my equipment on it. It has the clip and slide type of extension legs and I was used to that and it works just fine for me.

Fantastic and stable tripod system
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a fantastic tripod system. System in that it doesn't include a tripod head, but will take any standard 3/8" threaded head from any maker. Best part of this, it lets you get mere inches off the ground, perfect for macro shots! I'm using this with a standard Manfrotto ball head, and it holds my 15lbs medium format behemoth with ease, so DSLRs should not be an issue.

Better moves than a yoga master!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am totally pleased with the functions of the tripod. I took the time to actually read the directions and found how easy it is to operate its features. It's been fun playing with the features on this tripod! The leg clamps are a dream. They have a thumb indentation and open/close easily (no more pinched finger pads) and also has a tool to tighten the leg locks if they need it. The legs can each be "butterflied" to any angle including flat to the ground. This is also a one-handed operation per each leg. The the center column/macro arm function is a smooth and easy one-handed operation. In addition the standard use for the macro arm, it is potentially a great feature for shooting face portraits while subject(s) is laying on the ground. The frame is high quality aluminum and therefore durable. Any polymer (plastic) parts are a durable make, not at all fragile. It is a great advantage that it does not come with a head because you get to choose which head has the features you need and is in the price range of your budget. I did a lot of research through the manufacturer's website and compared other brands in this price range. My time was well spent. I am soooo pleased with my purchase. I swear it can do everything but cook your breakfast and wash your car... but I have not owned it long so who knows! The prices at BB are a good value especially with free shipping. Hope this makes evaluating this model easier!
