PROS
+ Powerful 7,200 RPM motor easily cut my thick beard
+ 20 small 0.5mm increments(up to 10mm) allows for lots of trimming options with only one attachment
+ Super smooth trim with no pulling or yanking of hairs
+ IPX7 waterproof rating means you can use in the shower and clean-up is easy
+ Battery indicator is a nice touch, plus you get 60 mins of runtime
+ Comes with a slim carrying case
CONS
- Nothing of note
WHAT WOULD HAVE MADE IT BETTER
> It would have been nice to have included a second attachment for longer trim settings (> 10mm)
> A pedestal stand to hold and easily charge the trimmer in the bathroom would have been nice, instead of needing to store it in the carrying case each time not in use
THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT
I have used several Manscaped products in the past and have always been very pleased with their performance. They have simple, sleek designs, and perform very well at what they are supposed to do, without needing additional frills. The Beard Hedger fits into this portfolio very well. It has one trimming attachment, whose height is adjusted with the included dial on the trimmer in 0.5mm increments up to a max length of 10mm. There is a battery indicator which tells you how much charge is left/how close it is to the max charge when charging, and an included USB-C charger for charging. There is one switch to turn the trimmer on/off, and that is about it on the outside. On the inside however, you have everything that you’d likely want from a beard trimmer.
The trimmer is IPX7 rated, so you can use it comfortably in the shower, and it makes clean-up super easy since you can simply remove the trimming attachment and rinse everything under water to clean it. The trimmer has a 7,200 RPM motor which managed to slice through my thicker beard with no noticeably difficulty, and given the ergonomic design of the trimmer, it was easy to cut the angle of my jawline and chin. I had no issues with the trimmer pulling or yanking hairs, and it was able to trim my entire beard without breaking a sweat. Honestly, it is a no frills high performing trimmer. It cuts well, is convenient to clean, easy to use, and stores nicely in its case with the charged cable and attachment.
Honestly, there isn’t much more you could want from a beard trimmer. My only complaints would be that I wish it came with a second attachment for longer beard trimming (10mm is a bit short for how I tend to keep my goatee), and that I wish it had a pedestal to hold the trimmer on the counter, instead of needing to put it away in the case after each use. Neither of these are deal breakers by any means, but would be nice to have in the future, and could maybe be added at future points.
All-in-all, the Beard Hedger has it where it counts, and performs exceptionally well at doing exactly what it is supposed to. Definitely recommend it if you are looking for a simple and efficient trimmer!

My New Favorite Razor

This device has become my new favorite razor. I've had a beard for about two years and have used 2 different shavers to trim it. One was a plug in shears like they use in the barber shops. And the other was a cordless wet/dry shaver that has an adjustable trimming adaptor. They both worked okay but were nowhere near as good as this Beard Hedger.
And here is why this hedger works better. First, it is more powerful than the other razors. When you turn it on you can feel the power instantly. Better power means faster blades and a cleaner cut that doesn't feel like pulls on your beard. Second, the adjustable trimming guard is a much better design. Most razors have a guard that keeps the blade a set distance from your skin. But most razors have a one dimensional guard, so if you change the direction of the razor you get an uneven shave. The guard on this razor moves up and out at the same time when you adjust it. This is important because you can hold the shaver parallel to your skin or perpendicular and it cuts the same either way. The results are a smooth and even trim across all hard to shave parts of your chin and face.
A few other things make this razor desirable. That includes how the trimming guard is adjusted. Instead of choosing a number and snapping it on, you can dial up and down the length you want trimmed. This means that instead of being either too short or too long, you can find the exact level that makes your beard look full enough but not too rough looking. And finally, being waterproof makes it easy to shave in the shower and not have to worry about the cleanup as much.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this razor.

Powerful, Well-Designed Trimmer

This beard trimmer is a sturdy, powerful, well-designed shaver. The packaging is minimalist, which is nice and saves on refuse. The carry case is sturdy and compact. The charger is brilliant! The device uses a USB-C charger, which means if you forget your charger on a trip, simply plug it into your phone charger and you're all set.
The motor is powerful and didn't bog down or stall cutting through my very thick beard. My beard hair was probably about 2in thick and it was able to cut without slowing. The guard is nice how it clicks on a dial to different lengths. And the cutter itself is removable from the frame for easy cleaning.
My 2 biggest gripes are related to the guard. The 10mm length to me is too short. I would like another guard that is maybe twice that length. At 10mm it took quite a few passes to get through my thick beard, but that was sorta to be expected. After I figured out the proper method for getting this done it came a little easier, but it took quite a few passes to finish the job right. So ideally, I'd like a longer guard, and for the existing one to comb better while allowing the hair to be cut without having to take so many passes.
The shape and feel of the device was good. It was easy to hold, not large at all, and the weight and balance was just right. It probably should have come with a small brush for helping remove hairs from behind the cutter when cleaning. Overall I like it and foresee getting a lot of good use out of it.

The Manscape Beard Hedger is an excellent beard trimmer and is perfect for taking care of your beard. Getting the desired length you want is easy with the 20 levels of height adjustability with the built in guard. No need to have to switch out guards to get different lengths. The shape of the guard makes it excellent for trimming your beard. The whole package is very ergonomic and makes trimming your beard a breeze. When you are finished trimming your beard, the guard comes off easy so can easily clean the trimmer. It's as simple as running some water over the blades and guard and letting it dry out. The Beard Hedger also comes with a travel case that fits the trimmer perfectly and makes ideal for taking it on trips. The charger also fits inside the case. The battery life is great too. You get 60 minutes of runtime, so you can easily get a week or two of trimming your beard without having to recharge your battery.

The ultimate, precise beard trimmer

If you’ve ever wanted to maintain a perfect beard, look no further! The Beard Hedger is an incredibly efficient and well-made piece of equipment for those who seek a perfect solution to their facial hair maintenance needs. Whether you’re maintaining a full beard, grooming a chinstrap or creating the perfect stubble, the Beard Hedger is the tool for you.
Unboxing you’ll find the Beard Hedger along with its AC adapter, USB-C cable, length-setting comb, and travel bag. With its powerful DC motor and 41mm titanium-coated t-blade at its unique cutting angle, the Beard Hedger delivers a smooth, single-stroke trim every time. Its intuitive zoom wheel allows you to select from 20 different length settings so that it can be tailored to suit your desired look. The removable adjustable guide comb allows you to choose from those length settings ranging from 0.5mm to 10mm - perfect for tackling even the thickest facial hair with ease. And if that isn’t enough precision then you can always remove the guide comb entirely and take down any beard down to a good-looking stubble.
And while we’re talking about charging, The Beard Hedger has an impressive 7200 RPM motor which provides up to 60 minutes of power after just 1.5 hours of charging with its Li-Ion battery. To charge it simply plug your USB-C charging cable into any USB-C charging port and wait until all three LEDs are lit - this will indicate that your trimmer is ready for use. The advanced firmware also has an overcharging protection circuit included, just in case you leave your trimmer plugged in for too long.
Durability isn’t an issue either as The Beard Hedger is waterproof rated IPX7 - meaning it can handle immersion in up to one meter of fresh water for up to 30 minutes! You can feel confident that your trimmer won’t break if used in wet conditions such as while in the shower or on the go.
All these features combine to make The Beard Hedger stand out among other electric trimmers and is great value considering its price point too! Simply put, the Beard Hedger takes facial hair maintenance up a notch giving men all around power over their look without compromising on quality or comfort.

Great Trimmer for Shorter Beards

Manscape has decided to branch out and do beard grooming. They make quality trimmers so I was excited to see what they would come up with. I grow a medium length beard (in other words, I am not going to win any Mountain Man awards for my beard). The Manscape Beard Trimmer is larger than I was expecting straight out of the box. Has a nice robust, well-built feel despite its plastic frame. There is a dial in the middle to allow for beard length selection which offers 0.5mm increments to 10mm. This was the biggest issue and why I can't use the trimmer anymore. I grow my beard at least twice that length and there are no additional guards with it. That said, it did a great job in my testing and the guard is easily removable for cleaning. I can't testify to the battery, but it seems like it would last for several rounds of full beard grooming before needing a charge. It also comes with a pseudo hard-side travel case which is a nice touch too. Overall, the trimmer seems great, but it really needs some longer trim options. Hey Manscape how about a second, longer guard in the box!

The Manscaped Beard Hedger is a rechargeable beard trimming system. The battery life is rated for 60 minutes of run time per charge. It is a nice change not having the restriction of a cord while trimming. It has a dial that adjusts the depth of the trimmer comb instead of the clip-on cutting guard/guides that I have used for a couple of decades. The unit is waterproof, and it is stated that it shines in the shower. I think the water-proofness makes cleaning much quicker and easier than my current unit. I also see that there is no mention of having to oil the clippers as I do my current one. The oil gets hair stuck in in and makes cleaning a longer task. You can call me a chicken but I'm not going to use it in the shower. My guess is that the amount of beard hair I trim off (my beard grows fast, and I tend to trim every month or so) would turn into regular expensive plumber visits if I trimmed in the shower. My first step in trimming my circle beard is to trim the bottom of the moustache. I do this with the bare blade. Before touching a new machine to my face, I decided to try out the groomer on some body hair. I started at 5 mm and went down to .05 and then to the bare blade. The clipper worked well at all of the settings that I used on my chest. I got no bites; no pulls and no razor burn with either edge to skin or shaving type motions. I ended up with a nice smooth chest. Before starting on the face, I realized that the trimmer comb adjustment wheel is calibrated in mm and for decades I have trimmed my beard and communicated my desired hair length to barbers in guide comb numbers. I looked up my current brand of clippers comb guide number to mm conversion chart. I found that the 10mm maximum depth adjustment is equivalent to a #3 guide comb on my current clipper. I traditionally use a #4 for my beard. I was a little disappointed to have to cut my beard 3mm shorter than usual. After trimming the base of my moustache with the bare blade, I put the trimmer comb on and set the dial to the maximum 10 mm setting. My habit has been to start at the bottom, press the guide against my skin and trim upwards. Doing this motion, the trimmer comb allows some of the hair to reach the blade while pushing others on top of the comb. It took quite a few more swipes and a little more time than I am used to, to get all of the beard hair trimmed to my satisfaction. The next morning, after showering I noticed a few stray hairs and touched them up. I had no problem with the short settings on the adjustable comb or the bare blade performance. I love that the unit is cordless and easy to use. The waterproofing and lack of needing oil make clean up the easiest I have ever had. I really like this clipper but can't give it all 5 stars based on the adjustable combs performance when set at 10mm (wide open) and not opening up to the equivalent of a standard #4 comb. It would also be nice to mark the dial in standard comb number equivalents instead of mm. In spite of a couple of negatives, I will retire my barber style trimmer and guide comb set.

A Good Beard Maintenance Trimmer

I have a really hard time with cordless beard trimmers, whether from being underpowered, easy to jam, or measurements that aren't quite right, I keep going back time and time again to my ancient Wahl trimmer and its obnoxiously twisty power cord that is powerful enough to mow the lawn and give haircuts to the whole neighborhood.
Manscaped seems to have a pretty good product here - instead of a custom power cord + connector combo, The Beard Hedger utilizes USB-C. It also comes with a just-right sized carry case.
I really appreciate the fact that you can RINSE the trim head; it makes for a much easier cleanup (although a small brush would be a welcome addition in the package). The plastic length guide is fully detachable and also makes cleaning much easier.
You set the trim length utilizing the twist dial on the front - in millimeters. Where I'm used to #2 or #4 on my Wahl, doing the math to convert it over and make sure I had the right trim length was tricky - and almost always where I go wrong on so many of these battery-operated trimmers. My concern was unwarranted - the trim length is adjustable enough that a course-correction on the fly keeps missed hairs to a minimum while also avoiding "mow lines" in your hair/beard. While I accidentally trimmed my sideburns too low, I was able to fade the trim and it turned out OK.
While giving my son a haircut, he didn't complain that the trimmer was pulling (rare!) and actually enjoyed being able to set the trimmer himself. The maneuverability made the trimmer a faster option than the Wahl.
All in all: the trimmer is light and responsive, cuts well, and is easily adjustable. Well worth your time and investment, BUT: add your own brush to clean it and take the time to practice some cuts on the taller settings before you really go for it.

The Best Beard Trimmer I've Owned

I have owned many beard trimmers over the years, most notably from the big brand that pretty much everyone uses. Never really gave a second thought to them, they seem like they all do the same exact thing and there is barely any innovation or creativeness between new models. Never have I been as impressed from a beard trimmer until I tried out the Manscaped Beard Groomer. Overall, this trimmer is fantastic, it cuts very cleanly, accurately, the mess is extremely minimal with how it catches the hair (more on that later) and has many modern features that make it even more of a great product.
First, the cleanliness of this razor is great. Most of the times when I trim my beard, the hair flies everywhere all over the counter into every nook and cranny it can find and my girlfriend will find them and yell at me for making a mess again! No more with this trimmer. I am not sure what they did but it clumps all the hair together and drops it straight down, no more having stray beard hairs fly around everywhere when you trim! Absolute game changer with that. Second, I love the new technologies they have incorporated with this charger, most notably making it a type-c device. This is so nice for traveling, if you happen to forget the power adapter, no problem, just literally plug this into any usb c port on a device and you can charge your razor! The battery life is also very strong as well. The case is well made, perfect for traveling. You can adjust the razor up to a 10mm cut per standard trimmers.
Also, for all you curious people.... I did try it downstairs on the family jewels, while it does work, I would not recommend it for down there. It is definitely not fine tuned for the yambag region but in a pinch it works.
Great product! Can't wait to get years of use out of this one.
