Did what I was hoping for, upscaled my blu rays and direct tv to 4k.Now all I need is to get a true 4k player and then my whole system will be 4k HDR compatible.

I bought this receiver wanting to upgrade my system, or so I thought. I really wanted to like it because of all the connectivity. I currently have a Marantz 8200 that I bought about 16 or so years ago. The guys at Magnolia were great and told me that this would be underpowered for large speakers and they were correct. Like I said, I really wanted to like it but think it's best suited for a small room.

Bought this receiver last April and was very excited. A few months ago started having some issues with no sound when playing movies. Adjusting the volume or muting and unmuting would help. A few days ago those remedies stopped working. Tried running the speaker setup to see whether any sound would come out - no test tones audible. Marantz support said it has to be serviced. Of course there aren't any authorized service centers in our small city of Minneapolis and the unit has to be shipped. Can't wait to find out how much that will cost. For a brand like Marantz my expectation would be a higher quality control, and in case of a needed repair shipping should be covered if they determine that it was not my fault the unit is not working.
