So I had been searching for a while for something that I could use for Atmos. One other products first hit the market. They promised a lot and did not deliver. Many many many problems. Dropped video, dropped audio or even worse loud pops or squeech and screeching. And went through two supposed big name products. I did finally settle on one that seemed to be good. I had it for close to 4 years. But then just outside of warranty it glitched and it locked up. I turned it off. Turned it back on and it it kind of fried. So I was forced to look again. In my search I came across the Marantz AV20. I've had Marantz equipment in the past and was very happy with it. Really like the way it sounded. This one was no different and to my old beat up ears sounded better. One of the best features about this is it just works. Set it down, plug it in, hook everything up and then just use it. It has been such a joy to own and operate. Switch it over to the oppo there it is. Switch it over to the PS5 there it is. The Roku, Xbox, whatever it may be, it just works. Setup is an absolute breeze. The on-screen walkthrough is fantastic. Getting back in to change settings is pretty easy too. I am definitely a big supporter and preacher of Dirac. And I can say that it works beautifully on here. If you're looking for a really good preamp that can do two-channel stereo home theater and be a central hub, it is a fantastic option. Dialing in your Atmos surround sound with Dirac is such a joy. It's also easy to access your Dirac files to switch between different calibrations for single seat or family layout.
