A fun return to golf in the Mario series

Mario Golf Super Rush is a welcome return to golf in the series. They followed a similar mechanic to Tennis Aces for the power-up, with interesting obstacle additions with supernatural disasters. What stands out most is that you can go from course to course in turn order, or spend each course racing from stroke to stroke and sabotaging the competition in the usual chaotic flair. Free DLC has dropped, and we can only hope they continue to update the game to keep the player community engaged, but I'm not necessarily counting on it. If you want some solo content (story) or have a group you regularly play with (multiplayer), this just works. Otherwise, you may want to wait for a sale or other Mario sports games to be announced. I personally enjoyed playing matches in the story, but didn't feel too engaged throughout the gameplay to want to come back to it regularly.

    Super Fun Game for Families

While this is a fun and super addictive game, I must say at some points during the storyline portion it’s a little slow. It is also frustrating not having full disclosure on how you’re supposed to beat the “bosses.” I also found it interesting that as you progress in the storyline (should you use a Mii character) that when you’re at a point where you can update your personal stats, at some points if you choose to improve in one area, another area (or more) decrease. Neither of these are deal breakers as I clearly continue to play the game; they are just both things that I think players should be aware of. Also, something to keep in mind when playing the storyline portion of the game, while helpful at times the Lob Wedge is easy to master in the testing portion, but tricky out on the course. Still, I enjoy playing this game for the storyline so I can build up my character, but also enjoy playing with my husband. I’m sure I’d love playing with other family members as well, but right now it’s just my husband and me. Perhaps our daughter will start playing with me in a couple weeks when she’s two months old, haha.

This game is fun for those who want to get in to a golf game. The characters take the time to explain the different techniques you can use as well as having practice runs before getting into the game. It's a fun game to play with friends or family or even on your own.

    Needs some updates

I want to preface this by saying that I do like the game a lot. The gameplay is not as refined as Toadstool Tour, but the large character roster and promise of future content updates makes up for that. I also really like the new modes, especially Speed Golf and Battle Golf. However while the game itself is a great time, the CPU players are absolutely brain-dead, especially when it's time to putt! I had an instance where the CPU was poised for a perfect, short, straight putt in order to tie the hole with my score, and instead they selected the Approach Wedge instead and whack the ball off the green. WHAT?!?! In addition, the CPUs will putt the ball in wrong directions, sending the ball further away from the hole, and overshoot the hole sending it from one end of the green to the other - over and over. This happens on nearly every hole of the match. What should have been a perfect, easy play sometimes turns their score into a Double Bogey. I've heard that selecting stronger clubs for the CPU players makes them better, and in one case it did seem to dramatically improve one of them, but again, once it came time to putt they played just as poorly. Nintendo needs to update this game with different difficulty options for the CPUs, and drastically improve their AI. If you have actual people to play with, this game is a fantastic time and I highly recommend it!!

Great game, lots of fun. One of those games you lose time over. Any fan of Mario and golf should enjoy this one. Obviously this is not a golf simulator so disregard any "golfer" that says they're disappointed by it, it is a kids game but yet fun for the whole family.

Many reviews were unhappy with the game, however I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with it so far. It does lack courses, but it seems Nintendo may be adding them with the latest additions in the newest patch. Give it a go if you are looking for a fun golf game to spend a little while with.

Really fun to get 4 players together and play. Better than kart or party and what the switch was meant for. By no means a serious golf game for 1 player but fun to crush beers and play.

Its a good time, some old fashioned pick up and play fun by yourself, or with family and friends! Speed Golf is my favorite mode, its so much fun, the only thing i wish was better would be more courses, characters and modes but what's here is a good time for sure!

    Miss the N64 version

Good game, but we miss the fun of the old school game for N64. The speed golf is a new and exciting twist for people, especially younger players, but many of the golf nuances have been removed. It’s a shame, because the older games were so good. The party version of mini golf on N64 especially was amazing. Playing with 4 people was a fun way to game together, I really hope they add this to the DLC. Unfortunately, the fast/arcade style of play limits the strategy and decision making of the game, which is a bit disappointing. It’s really more of a romp style adventure all over the course. It’s fun, but it could be a lot better. We had a lot of laughs as a family playing it, but it does make me feel like it just missed the mark.

Mario golf is always fun. Ever since I played the original back on the regular Nintendo, and some other golf games throughout the years, I always look forward to another Mario golf game. My boys have Nintendo Switch’s and when I found out there was a new Mario Golf game coming out, I went and got one for myself. I now have my own Switch and the new Mario Golf game. It’s a lot of fun and brings back a lot of memories. Some of the stuff is just goofy on the course, but I know the game was designed for kids, not a 43 year old dad. My boys 14 and 16 absolutely love the “speed golf”...they said it’s their favorite thing about the game.

It's a fun way to pass time, and easy to learn all the basics. Not many courses, and half the playable characters are uninteresting or annoying. Great to play with friends.
