If you can buy only game for the whole family for a new switch in your household. Make it Mario Kart 8. It's perfect in every way. There are various difficulty mode for any age above 5. The graphics are really eye catching and the multiplayer is a lot fun, both Local and online. It comes with all the DLC which includes 48 tracks.
I would buy it in a heartbeat. I was able to purchase the game for $35 during Black Friday sale.

This game is so much fun to play! I always enjoyed the Mario kart series. In fact, I have old Mario kart for every old Nintendo console. I own this game on the Wii U also. I was hesitant to buy for the switch since I have it for Wii U. But the game has some improvements over the Wii U. It has much better graphics, more characters, more levels, and online feature. I am glad I got this game! And I got it on sale for $39.99!!!

It’s a blast to play this game with multiple players. If you don’t mind the $60 price tag on a Wii U ported game, this is the game for you. Personally think the price point is silly but I can’t deny the fun factor this game delivers.

I’ve been playing Mario cart versions since N64 and this one is a pretty great upgrade. Familiar tracks and characters and then a ton of new ones. The controls are easy and I find less erratic than the originals so you can stay on the tracks which can have different ways to complete them, in each arena. Balloon battle is much improved and way more fun. The graphics are great and make even crazy fast tracks easy to navigate. Fun for the whole family!

This is the first gaming system I’ve bought in a long time. I’m very happy with the overall quality of it. I love having access to the classic games I missed from PlayStation too!
I would recommend this to a friend

This has to be top tier Mario Kart experience. I purchased this digitally and play it on a regular basis with the family. I ultimately had to get the physical copy. Nintendo has done a great job adding additional content for drivers and tracks. Everyone needs to experience this ultimate Mario Kart experience. Recommended for all ages. Especially with the auto turn and acceleration assist. My 3 year old daughter was able to play and feel like she was part of the experience.

While I wouldn't say it's the best mariokart (double dash for GC) it is definitely the most polished. While it was on the Wii U, on the switch you get the definitive edition with all the bells and whistles. Also you can play it on the go no less! And boy is this game sweet eye-candy on portable mode due to the crispness of the smaller screen. Great game to have mindless fun especially when you play online, you no longer have to wait until someone comes over to play with you like in the times of yore!

I don't like playing the original on N64 - sue me. It controls like a lead balloon and didn't age well, and the nostalgia isn't enough for me to truly enjoy playing it. If I needed a fix, Double Dash was modern enough to do the trick for me.
I just recently bought a Switch solely for this and Zelda...and maybe a little for the gimmicky but fun 1 2 Switch. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe alone is worth picking up the console. Take the plunge, and enjoy it with your friends!

It's a Mario Kart game. Gameplay is great. Soundtrack is great. Makes for a great time with friends and family. Only downside is the price vs amount of content. I wish it had more tracks from previous games.

I'm not a big gamer so please don't underestimate my appreciation for this game. Let's start with the graphics. I can't thank the team behind them enough. The colors, and everything that went into the visuals is beautiful. Colors are really bright and always go well with the intense gameplay. Each track is also a beauty. Not all of the tracks are new, and it's even specified which tracks have been used in other systems such as DS. However, playing this game on a switch is an experience of its own. Doesn't matter if I played Cheep Cheep Beach when I was on my 3DS, playing on the switch was worth it. I've never been into the sound track behind games but each sound track has been so craftfully made. It takes the gameplay to another level, by not only complementing it, but giving it a sweet competitive edge. The antigravity feature is pretty neat; to explain when you bump into other players or the antigravity pieces in the middle of the track you'll be pulled forward with a little boost. With the exception of having all access to vehicle upgrades (available by gaining coins), the cars/wheels/gliders are all cool. A lot of times I see a new vehicle and I'm like, "Wow, they have this as an option!" There's luxury Mercedes Benz, and silly animal like vehicles. The ease of the user interface is like all previous years, but its the tracks that really gets your moneys worth. Sometimes I play and question if I'm playing a game or living in one. If that was the goal of Nintendo, they really came to surpass it. Please do yourself a favor and get Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

I have been playing Mario Kart since the SNES days. Mario Kart 64 was the first of the series I purchased with my hard earned money from my first job that I played for months on end. I admit that having previously purchased Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U there was some hesitation in buying the new "remastered" game. But in all Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's seemingly small feature upgrades add a lot to the game. In my case the updates were well worth the double dip. If you've been away from the series and or missed it entirely on Wii U there should be no question on whether to buy (so long as you enjoy the racing, kart genre). But if you are on the fence consider the following:
-Eight battle stages with four modes. This was the greatest omission from the Wii U version that is rightly fixed now. The modes are great, with Renegade Roundup being the new addition and my personal favorite.
-Full 1080p 60fps on TV and 720p 60fps on the go. It ran at 720p 59fps on Wii U. So the game is sharper and very smooth running on the Switch. Multiplayer dips to 30fps with three or four players, but no different than Wii U.
-Best handheld iteration of a Mario Kart ever made.
-Double item blocks return, you can now get a defensive item and a coin or two defensive items. This really does make the game much better.
-New characters and karts: Dry Bones, Bowser Jr. Inkling Boy, Inkling Girl. There is one additional character that is unlocked by getting a gold cup on every cup available, I won't spoil it here. A quick Google search will tell you who it is.
-All DLC characters and levels included and unlocked from the start including 200cc mode. There is still a progression through racing and getting coins to earn kart parts.
-Local wireless, LAN (with adapter), and online play are all available.

Mario Kart 8 was already the best game from the franchise up to date. Even though it is a Wii U game that was ported to the Nintendo Switch system, it brings new characters, new battle modes, and of course, portability. The fact that you can play this, with a friend (without even having to buy a second controller or set of joycons) and on the go, is great,
And if you hadn't tried Mario Kart 8 before (lots of people didn't get a Wii U) prepare to be amazed. Graphics, soundtrack, characters, tracks and even the special items!

First, if you aren't a gamer member with Bestbuy you are throwing money away every time you buy a game.
This game has everything! It's especially fun once you master the steering wheel(sold separately) and don't need to use the directional buttons. The switch joy con is made to fit hands that are roughly the size of Trumps hands. If you have anything larger than a toddlers hand when playing with the joy con you need the steering wheel.
There are tons of characters and vehicles to choose from. So many upgrades.
The game is set up for the most novice players to the extremely talented with all the classes and cups available.
Better option for party's of adults or children than 1-2 switch.
Adults only below this......
Trying playing Drunk Cup
The rules are:
You are not allowed to drink and drive. You must pull over to drink.
You must finish your adult beverage before finishing the race.
Good luck!!!!

Mario Kart is a classic Nintendo game series. I've played every single entry of the series from the SNES to N64 to GCN to Wii to Wii U to Switch. I've also played the handheld entries of the series. This version of the game for Switch is basically the most current and up-to-date entry. It includes many different characters and race tracks to choose from. On the Switch, you can race with others locally via split screen or online.
Honestly, it's a Mario Kart game. It's tons of fun, even playing single player mode.
Excellent, especially for fans of the older games!

If you have ever played MarioXart you'll automatically know and love this game. I havent found anything new and oustanding about the difference but this is great being portable now and able to just pop in and play immediately. I was even able to play with 4 people on the little screen during a break at work which was hilarious on the little screen and all of us crowding over each other and bumping elbows.
Should have come out when the switch was released but worth the wait. If you have a switch... get this game.

When I first got it, I played it practically all the time about. I got into it, especially with the online membership. It's a fun, addictive game that you should play. You don't need the online membership as you can play against the computer. My favorite course is the Zelda course. Nintendo just keeps adding courses! This game you can play forever and still have a fun time.
