A great addition to the franchise! It doesn't beat the first 3 games for me, but I like it more than dream team and WAY more than paper jam. This game probably has the best tutorials in the franchise, they just pop up in a box you can skip past in less than a second. The pacing can be a bit inconsistent, but is a lot better than dream teams pacing. Combat is fun as always. And there's hours of side content you can do. (And no this game isn't a 5/10 even if it's not your thing.)

This one is a lengthy start, with a lot of hand-holding and re-reminders, it's true. But we must remember that these titles are built with younger audiences in mind. So there will be quite a bit of extra help in the beginning, and it does fade away eventually. That aside, I've enjoyed this game very much so far. The story may feel a little dry and I think it is because localization tried very hard not to deviate from its Japanese-style humor, or at least that's what it feels like. Still, there's plenty of story to go around. Now, the battle mechanics are what we are interested in and the game does not disappoint. The animations are very, very polished. Offensive moves have unique timing windows for extra damage. Also, each enemy has their own unique attacks, and there are unique timing windows that allow the player to reduce if not completely nullify damage. So, the challenge for players is really identifying and capitalizing on the correct defensive timing for each new enemy's attack pool, and there are plenty. The concept of capturing islands and towing them along with your ship and crew makes for an interesting and unique backtracking experience, with plenty of side-quests to keep you busy. It's been a blast playing this game so far, over 30 hours and counting.

Great game. I am thinking I am almost done at close to 40 hours.
The story is good, but I did see the twist at the very beginning of the game. Gameplay is balanced, nothing is too difficult. I am not sure if framerates drop due to me not shutting of my Switch for a long time for it to reset, or if it is the game though.

If you played Super Mario RPG/Paper Mario and the like then you're sure to enjoy this game too. While obviously more light hearted then standard RPG/JRPG titles from third party developers it's still a great game for gamers.
Can be played by both younger and older gamers with no issues and one that parent's can't really object as being to violent or adult.

Ive seen people complain about this game, and I have played it to 100%, its not as bad as people are making it out to be. The characters are charming, the story is on par for a M&L game. The dialogue is also on par for the series, so I dont know why people are saying its bad. The gameplay is a little slow at times but that doesnt take away from the overall package.
If you're thinking of getting this game, go for it. If you like the M&L series, you'll like this one too.

The charm and art style of this game are great. I love the animations of the bros during battles. Although I wish they still used the original control scheme of using Luigi with the B button and I wish they didn't take away most of your control of him. Aside from that its a welcome entry in the M&L series.

An enjoyable game if you can get past and forgive the many optional fetch quests. Combat and battles are the most enjoyable part with bosses offering a bit more challenge.

This game is so fun, I absolutely loved it. The graphics were good, the plotline was crazy and super fun. The only weird thing was they changed one specific control for Luigi from previous games that was weird to get used to, but otherwise super fun.
