This great subversive sci-fi show of the 1980's was ahead of it's time in so many ways. But if you're reading this, you probably already know this. So how is this DVD set? Pretty darn good. Later in the series, you may notice how the picture takes on an orange tint in SOME scenes. But this is not a transfer problem. This was in the original production and broadcasts. Sound is very good. The extras are all interviews, which are great BTW. Missing however is Matt Frewer himself. Still, this set is a great and I highly recommend it.

I'm an 80's kid but for whatever reason I never watched Max Headroom. I knew who he was and I knew of the show, but I never watched it. I did with this set and the show is really great. It's a Scifi show that takes place in a cyberpunk future with satire that is biting and true to this day. The show is a lot of fun and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Finally after 23 years, I'm able to watch Max Headroom again! As I drank New Coke I thought Max Headroom was hysterical and I believed that cameramen solved crimes. This show actually inspired me to become a network cameraman but I found out the hard way that it wasn't all that glamourous since I didn't have a computer generated image of myself popping into random televisions helping me out while I shot fluff spots in fashion boutiques. Real adult life is a big let down. Anyway, the DVD's aren't bad. Some episodes are better than others though. When it feels like Blade Runner, it's good. When it feels like Futurama, it's bad. It blurs the lines between serious and goofy but that's the 80's for ya. It has trouble deciding what it's supposed to be. The darker the episodes, the sweeter the juice, in my opinion. But the bonus features are dull. There's interviews with the creators but no behind the scenes props, stills, SFX's, merch... nada. What, no one on set had a Polaroid? All talking head interviews (no Headroom). And, no running commentary. Oddly enough there's a roundtable discussion with a few of the actors but no Matt Frewer!!! (no Headroom) What!? He's too good to be interviewed? Is he embarrassed or something? Man, he probably made gobs of money wearing a latex mask and shilling Coke. I mean, he's no George Clooney and he surely could of talked about the show for an hour. Since it is his face on the box, he owes it to the fans. Without their support this show would have been truly forgotten like "The Chatterbox". Anyway, I think it's worth owning. It's a conversation piece. I've got plenty of close friends that had no idea it was even a show so it's a kick to put on the DVD player and have them be like, "Whaaaaaaaaaa?" But everything in 80's had a show from Glo Worms to the Puffalumps. Trivia: Did you know that Max Headroom was the inspiration for Vanilla Ice? Notice their identically styled hair, bone structure and ability to sing.
