Microwave worked well for 3 months and now shows error on screen. Called maytag repairs and it has been over 2 weeks and no repairs yet. Maytag has terrible warranty repair in central FL.

purchased for a remodel and wasn’t able to install right away - 60 days later gets installed and display panel doesn’t work - inconvenient to call for a service appointment already

I always read the ratings because the ratings hardly lie. I like the microwave. It does its job. It can be a little loud though. Great for the price!

Very nice looking microwave. Worked great till it didn’t. I had it for 2 1/2 years and it is now broken I now have to buy another one. Maybe I should’ve bought the five-year warranty plan. I will probably do that on my next microwave since they seem to break more than anything else and that would be a good upgrade usually I don’t buy extended warranties but for microwaves are the only things that seem to break that I’ve had over the years.

When I first got this microwave last year, it was great. It looked really nice and functioned well. Fast forward to a little over a year later, and the control panel has come loose so I can hardly use it. I have seen similar complaints, and it seems that this is a reoccurring issue on these OTR microwaves.

We typically love Maytag. We have them in our house and cabin. The problem with that is we bought two of these microwaves. After about six months, we have the same problems on both like everyone else. The microwave constantly thinks the door is either open or shut when it's not. Giving you a 'door' error code and not letting you cook your food. Unplugging the microwave for 10 or so minutes seems to fix it, but who wants to do that every time you want to cook food? I contacted Maytag; they insisted we pay a service fee to have someone look at it. That doesn't include what it would cost to fix it. 2 microwaves doing the same thing, and a glaring flaw as you can tell in the reviews, and you want ME to pay for it? Really? They're practically brand new! To say I'm disappointed in Maytag is an understatement. I generally a huge fan; I recommended them all the time. I'm afraid that streak has ended now.

I purchased my over-the-range microwave in 2016. Less than one year after, the error message of “Open/close door” occurred and the microwave stopped working. Since the date of the repair was less than one year, it was under warranty. So why am I posting my review? Because when the repairman came, he suggested that I should get an extended warranty. I asked him why and he simply said: Google it. Guess what? He was right. My microwave is having the same issue again. If you simply google it first, you will find out that THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE for Maytag/Whirlpool microwaves. So I called the customer service today and was told that there is nothing they can do. In fact, the customer service told me: It might be cheaper for you to get another microwave. I am making it my mission to make sure people are aware of this.

Not much more to say than this. My tenant reports that this microwave has given two or three different error codes, and that it constantly thinks that its door is open whether it is or not. A repairman was unable to fix it. Now I come here and realize that this is what all of these microwaves do after 18 months or so. Lesson learned.

If I could give this microwave 0 stars I would. After only 18 months my microwave has quit working. It shows an open/close door error message and no matter how many times you open/shut door it doesn’t work. Sometimes if you unplug for >10 minutes it will work. But that’s only sometimes. I purchased all of my appliances from Best Buy for my home and they are all Maytag. I am very disgruntled as I have a matching set and now not even 2 years later i have to think about getting a new microwave. I want them to match but I would be crazy to buy another microwave that didn’t even last 2 years. I called Maytag customer service and they were no help at all. Not impressed Maytag. I know many people who are buying new homes and have to pick out appliances. I would never recommend these to any friend or enemy. What a waste of money!!! Fingers crossed the other appliances last more time or I better start saving my pennies.
