Unit was installed yesterday since i was in and out of hospitals since spring and now am doing much better. Cilor was supposed to be stainless steel, but cook top instead is black with stainless trim and controls. Aside from that, it looks great and will cook with it first time today or tomorrow.. Does it not come in all stainless color?

It is very hard to read the temp. knobs.Barely visible. On one of my burners shows a rainbow burn spot. Most pots leave scatches. Ok to clean.

This device replaced our 23yr. old Kenmore/G.E. electric cooktop with the same dimensions and specs. Our original cooktop served us well over that period until the rheostats (controls) and one burner finally required replacements. Thus we purchased this unit from Best Buy, installed it accordingly, etc.. We have now had this unit for 5mo., have given it a good overall chance, but sadly we are very disappointed. Here are the reasons: (1.) This so-called "GLASS" surface is not really true glass like our original unit which had a TRUE GLASS surface - it is a man made ceramic compound (chemical/scientific makeup available in further researches) that is actually "rather soft and delicate". We are very careful when using this cooktop, following every direction given by the manufacturer and in general usage about Ceramic Cooktops. The cooktop surface scratches very easily. We take extreme care NOT to rotate, or slide a pan or skillet across the flat ceramic surface. We utilize quality aluminum cookware, and do not apply any downward pressure during usage. However, the surface scratches so easily, you can not help but start to see such markings. We are very careful to NOT spill any Tomato or Sugary based substances, or spills from anything such as even lifting a covered lid off a pan/skillet dripping condensed water, or other liquid producing droplets, yet they do find their way to the cooktop surface no matter how careful one is. To CLEAN the surface, we utilize the special liquid Polishing compound made, along with the Yellow texture scotch-brite type pad made for this purpose. An ongoing process after each usage - otherwise the surface can start to pit, or have permanent marks. (2.) The BURNERS DO HEATUP fast. However, all burners the turn on and off constantly - their so-called thermo controlling, and we seldom turn a burner on to FULL Heat. This issue is that your cooking process will burn quickly, or will sit their not cooking much at all - BAD design of techno-parameters of internal components. (3.) This cooktop is touted as being made in U.S.A. - not so, the underside markings all say Made In China! It is our understanding that there are actually only 1-2 manufacturers of electric cooktops, and all others utilize their BRAND NAME under License tone of the makers. Best Buy as the Seller is NOT at fault, (5 stars for them) they were very cordial and helpful during the sales cycle and delivery. It is the product itself, just NOT to the same quality as those units made years ago. If we had to do it over, we would convert to GAS (as we had decades ago), and buy a unit with Iron Grated tops of high quality. In the mean time, we gave this reviewed unit at least (2) Stars only because it does turn On, and it will cook your foods.
