I needed these to make some installation media and not many places locally had them. Best Buy did and they would price-match their online store (which they just consider a different store according to the people at checkout) which was something like $20 less than the marked in-store price. I was in and out quickly, the product worked as expected and I am happy about that.

as a high school teacher with unreliable access to online streaming and computers, I had to transfer a lot of media (VHS tapes & online videos) to a format that I use for my classes, and since DVD players are so much cheaper now... these DVDs work beautifully with my DVD burner and did not give me any complications with the burns.

Great value and they are a very good product. Have used them for storing my pictures so I can edit them and save them quickly. Also use them for some of my videos but I mainly like them for pictures.

With 6000 photos from camp, 'the cloud' or even single layer DVDs just wouldn't handle it. Got the dual layer, burned copies for everyone involved. Now they can all have full size high-res copies.

I only buy Memorex DVDs'. I have never had any quality issues with this brand. Some off-brand DVD's don't always have the best quality. Choose Memorex if quality matters to you.

Best way to backup up photos, videos and files

The double-layer recordable DVD is the perfect media for storing tons of digital photos, libraries of digital music, presentations, family videos and even just regular backups of data. These are long lasting unless severely mistreated; I have had discs that get regular access to view photos etc. and after years of use still not a single misread. Mac OS natively reads/writes these discs and there are plenty of options for using these discs with Windows provided you use the correct format for your drive (PCs are picky so you may need either a +R or -R disc for your particular computer). While these discs cost about $1 each in bulk, you get lots of bang for the buck and you can afford to make more frequent and specific backups and targeted archives insuring your memories are protected against hard disk failures. As long as you have a fairly high-speed DVD burner, burn time is just a few minutes. Although cloud-based backup is handy, I believe large photo albums and music collection archives can be organized, sorted and accessed more readily and less expensively on disc as most cloud-based storage gets expensive when you start talking about hundreds of gigabytes.

I will only use Memorex DVDR-DL. Best quality! Most DVDRs that I use will have bad media throughout the spindle. Memorex by far has the least incidents of bad media.

There are always times with a recording is just a bit to long for the regular DVDR. The extended disk is just what is needed so you don't have to use two disks.
