I started with the Walkman and graduated to one of these, only this is so much better. It fit great in my jacket pocket and no skipping as I was walking around. My speakers were able to plug into it just fine as well. The volume control is great as it gradually gets louder. It goes back to low when I shut it off so no more blown eardrums when I go from using it with a speaker to earphones. I'll be buying this as a gift for my friends who still have their CD collections.

If your like me then you have a collection of CDs that are dust collectors. Well thanks to this cost effective cool memorex all the fun times are back! Plug in the batteries, use the enclosed earbuds (I use adifferent ear buds so cant comment on those) and everything else is simple just like the past used to be. Batteries seem to last a relatively crazy long time as well! Sound is awesome quality is excellent and the memories of the past are much needed.

Memorex Portable CD Player (Blast from the Past)

What a blast from the past?!? However, some people still rock these CD Players (more power to them). But I received this sweet relic a week ago and it was like deja-vu all over again. This CD Player is very basic and standard, however, using it was like riding a bicycle. Inside the box along with the CD Player comes a set of wired headphones, with 3 sets of different sized eartips, and 2 AA batteries. On the CD Player are the basic controls Pause, Play, Stop, Fast Forward, and Rewind. You can also set the CD to play tracks in any order using the Programming button. There's also a small LCD display window which displays track info as well as the Equalizer setting you can switch between. The CD Player also features 60-second anti-skip. All in all, its a decent CD Player which brings back memories from the first time I used one. This will be perfect for those that are not that into the newer technology or for those that still use flip phones.

Okay, so I might be one of the last people on earth to have a huge CD collection, but alas I do. And as such, I really like the sound of CDs, so having them on the go is a good thing. I had a previous portable CD player from another brand, but it bit the dust. This Memorex does the job and have excellent quality sound. It has a 60 second skip buffer that is almost a necessity unless you just like to leave it laying on the desk (which defeats the purpose of having this). The controls have a simple layout and are easy functioning. The display is monochrome but easy to read. The player does not open all the way up (it's a clamshell design) so be careful with that. So far, so good; but now some negatives. Battery operated only (unless you have, or purchase a compatible AC adapter). Boo... No Bluetooth (which would have made this awesome) and most of all, the supplied headphones are HORRIBLE! Use any other headphones than the ones supplied with this and you will like this much better. All in all, it is a good little CD player if, like me, you have a massive CD collection. Get some better headphones and your set to music your day away.

If you are budget minded and still have a stash of CDs at $30 this might be a good player for you if aren't expecting too much other than a simple player. It's extremely simple to operate. Play/Pause, Stop, Forward, Reverse buttons on a oval pad. Above and below the digital display are these buttons: Play mode - shuffle, play once, play loop and intro only which plays 10 seconds of the beginning of each song and then goes to the next; ESP - is electronic skip protect to reduce skipping while slightly jostled (more later); Equalizer - gets you flat, pop, rock or surround (more about surround later) Below the display is PROG which lets you program the order you want to play the songs and then up and down volume buttons On the side you get a headphone jack, DC power input (power adapter not included) and the open top slider. What I like... not really much. It is what it is... an inexpensive CD player as the whole world is going digital but if you do have a bunch of CDs that you haven't ripped then this might work for you. What I didn't like. First the earbuds that come with this are terrible. I even got a lot of static if the earbud plug rotated in the jack and the sound... mehhh. First thing I did was pull out a decent set of earbuds and headphones where the sound is much better. Second thing I didn't like is the ESP... it really only protects from the slightest of jostles so don't think about carrying this while jogging or mountain biking. Lastly the Equalizer in Surround mode... terrible!!! I don't know what they were going for but it certainly isn't surround sound. Look... at the price point it may be a decent value but it's not much cheaper than a low end digital player that you will get better sound, smaller package and you wouldn't need to lug around a CD case. The CD player's time has come and gone so I find it difficult to recommend this player to anyone... Sorry Memorex

Basic CD player - easy to use

The CD player comes with ear buds. You must use ear buds or a headset as the CD player doesn't have an internal speaker. You can also connect to an external speaker (not wireless). We used this with both speakers and ear buds and it works quite well. Ear buds fit my ears nicely and it would be great for kids to use in the car. EQ presets - I liked this option as it works well. This player features three presets, including rock, pop, and normal for maximum enjoyment. Four playback modes Including random, repeat, intro, and program. Digital volume control - volume levels were great Provides precise audio levels. 60-second anti-skip protection - use this all the time Ensures worry-free listening.

    Good Basic CD Player

The Memorex Portable CD Player is a good, basic portable CD player. It was easy to unpack and I was able to use it in couple of minutes. I played a music CD with the supplied headphones, and with my smartphone headphones. My smartphone headphones had much better sound than the ones supplied with the CD Player. I found the standard earphone jack a bit touchy; at first there was no sound, and I moved the earphone plug in and out to get stereo sound. The Memorex unit is marked with a “no skip” decal, but the music skipped with just a slight movement of placing it on my desk. Pros: - Portable. Lightweight. Easy to use. - Runs on batteries (2 AA included) or A/C adapter (not included). - Three preset equalizer profiles (pop, rock, surround). - Programmable, up to 20 tracks. Cons: - The music skips even with slight movement of the CD player. - No A/C adapter provided. - The supplied headphones do not provide rich sound. - Does not work with Bluetooth headphones or Bluetooth speakers. - No hand strap to make the unit easy to carry when walking. I would recommend the Memorex CD Player for someone that wants a basic unit, but would not recommend it to an audiophile. With the supplied headphones, it would be good for playing language learning CDs and audiobooks. I do not recommend this CD player for runners; the supplied headphones are not water-resistant/sweatproof and the music would skip.
