This is a good CD player. I needed something simple and inexpensive. Works great, even when walking. However, I did regret not getting the kind with bluetooth.

Replaced an old Sony CD Walkman

Documentation (or lack thereof) / published specifications get 0 stars. I bought this to replace an old Sony D-EJ611 CD Walkman, which had started to make loud clicking noises. The Memorex packaging indicated it could be powered by a DC adapter (not included) with a 5V input. The raised lettering by the DC input indicates 4.5V, which is the same input as the Sony. However, the Sony plug does not fit; apparently it's a 5.5x2.5mm plug while the Memorex appears to be a 3.5x1.35mm plug. Guess what DC adapter size is hard to find or expensive? You guessed it. I decided I'll just keep rotating rechargeable batteries through the Memorex and skip trying to find a compatible AC/DC adapter, especially since the power input specifications are shaky. Virtually no information on this model on the internet. Oh yeah, the sounds okay, although I think the Sony gave a little better input to my headphones. But overall, a suitable replacement, and the .wav files on typical CD's suffer less compression than the .mp3 files on the iPhone.

This CD player met all of my requirements. It was relatively inexpensive but full function. It has all the features larger units have. It is very small and fits easily in the opening in my dash. Being small and lightweight I can easily move it from one location to another. Altogether a good value for the money.

I purchased this as a gift for my son-in-law. He purchased a new car that does not have a CD player and he wanted something portable that he could use. He says that the unit works good and the sound is also good. He just wished that some of the control, buttons were a little bigger.

Working great so far with a Bluetooth transmitter for use in my car, since my 2020 Honda Insight didn’t include a line in jack (I know, the future is digital). The sound is pretty good with the preset EQ options. Just wish Memorex gave size of pin needed for optional 5 volt AC/DC power cable (not included). Perhaps more durable square casing similar to my orig Sony Discman would be easier to handle.

Works great, good sound quality, and nice and compact. For its price, great quality overall. The included headphones aren't the greatest, but I expect most people already own a nicer pair at home.

Really happy with the way it plays CDs. Have purchased other models in past & they stop working after a few months. Very light & easy to use. Glad that Best Buy still carries or offers this CD Player. They are hard to find now.

This might be closer to 4.5 stars.. It's a good device for what it is. It's a throwback to when phones were for calls and people played music on devices that were just for music, or recorded books. This plays CDs. It doesn't stream anything or have a radio option. If you want to play some kind of CD, this is a really good player. The sound quality is good. It allows the user to plug in headphones or a speaker. It comes with a set of earbuds and batteries. The batteries last a while, since this player doesn't drain them quickly, but rechargeable ones might be a good idea. If you want to be able to plug it in, you'll have to purchase the adapter for that. This player has several functions- it has the option to program (a simpler version of a playlist), has 3 preset equalizer settings, and anti-skip or ESP. This last one is a must in a portable CD player. The downside with this player is that it doesn't have bluetooth or any way to carry it. You're limited by the length of the cord, and you can't wear the player or put it in your pocket. For some, this might be a deal breaker, but most people shopping for a CD player won't be surprised by this, and will deal with those minor inconveniences to have a chance to play their CDs. I would have liked to be able to step away by connecting another device wirelessly. Another minor thing is the small screen fades out the top of the numbers. It makes it harder to read them, although it doesn't prevent the user from using any of the features. In spite of these, it's a good CD player. It plays CDs well with no problems. It also has a low battery indicator so you can keep an eye on that (if it's not plugged in). Obviously if it's going with you, you'll want to know about the battery life, so this is important. It's black with black earbuds, and is small, but easy to use. I would recommend this for playing CDs.

Nice sound for a Personal CD Player

The Memorex Personal CD Player is light and has a great sound. It is either battery operated (2 AA batteries) or you can purchase an AC adapter (not included with this unit). I do like the fact that it only uses 2 AA batteries as opposed to 4 AA like some other portable CD players. It has a lot of features which make this CD Player very versatile for all kinds of music. Features: Play CD, CD-R/RW discs 60 second skip protection 3 EQ (Equalizer) presets Mode selection LCD Display Low Battery Indicator Secure-fit wired earbuds with 3 eartip sizes included The 60 second skip protection (ESP Button) works perfectly when used in the car (with car adapter not included) or walking. The fact that it is light weight makes it easy to carry around in a knapsack, waist pack or bag. The equalizer on the Memorex Personal CD Player has 3 presets, Surround, Pop, and Rock for different music genres. The Mode selection can cycle between Repeat, ALL (repeats entire CD), INT (Play the CD in Intro mode) and RND (Play tracks in a random order). The modes can be easily switched by pressing a button. The LCD is easy to read and displays mode, ESP (on or off), Equalizer (EQ) and Program. The battery indicator is also displayed on the LCD screen. The STOP, PLAY/PAUSE and SKIP/SEARCH buttons are easy to find on the top of the player. All of the other features are also on the top of the CD Player. This makes it easier to find all the different features easily without having to search on the side of the player. The only function that on the front of the player is the OPEN switch. The wired earbuds come with different size eartips to fit snuggly in your ears. The only thing the earbuds don’t have, is a volume control on the earbuds themselves. However, the Memorex CD Player has a standard 3.5mm headphone jack so that any earbuds or headphones with 3.5mm connection will work. I use over the ears Active Noise Canceling (ANC) headphones when I want to just listen to music and mute external sounds. Otherwise the earbuds included fit comfortably with great sound. I recommend the Memorex Personal CD Player for those that want a clear, lightweight portable CD player.
