Not only was it quite difficult to put the iphone 6plus inside this thing, configuring was a pain. After that realized how limited options were there to use it.. download an app for different experiences.. all in all a fancy flop product. Returned it.

The Merge VR Goggles is a fairly decent VR product that is compatible with both iOS and Android phones. It's also compatible with Google Cardboard apps and YouTube 360 video. Unlike other VR sets there is no syncing required with the device. Go to your respective App stores, find some VR apps, and you're good to go. Pros: It's got a good, solid feel to its construction, the foam around the eye piece is quite soft and comfortable (if you don't wear glasses), and the straps that hold the goggles to your face are nice and sturdy. Cons: If you wear glasses this thing will not feel comfortable while you are wearing both. If you wear bi-focals just take them off. And the most major "con" to this device is that while you can adjust the width of the optics to compensate for the distance between your eyes there is no focus mechanism of any sort. So if you're like me and wear bi-focals you'll just have to deal with a not so sharp image. Seeing as how the target audience for a device such as this is probably younger people who do not wear bi-focals this probably wasn't a concern for Merge. However, the lack o any sort of focusing mechanism is, in my mind, inexcusable. I'd recommend this to others with a simple caveat. If you wear glasses then this might not be for you. If you don't then by all means, buy and enjoy the VR lifestyle.

Good goggles fun games little jumpy

I got the vr goggles and merge cube to go along with it. I like the goggles and cube as well as the free games I downloaded to play with them. The games were fun but the screen/controls were a little jumpy and Or unresponsive. I tried out a brick out style game with the goggles just to test it and a Minecraft style building game with the cube The games were both fun to play and cool to see in 3d. The brickout game, the ball jumped around a little out of whack with my head movements making controlling it difficult. It may just take some getting used to and I definitely want to try other games. The eyepieces were easy to adjust for clarity and made the image excellent. The movement is controlled with your head rotating side to side and your button controls are on the top of the goggles, also the eyepiece adjustment knob (so it may cause your view to go out of focus as you push the buttons). The apps and images are all provided by your phone or mobile device. My pixel xl was just barely small enough to fit (any larger a phone may not). I also tried out a brick building game like Minecraft on the Cube. I tried both using just my phone camera and the vr goggles. I had trouble finding a large selection of free games for the cube. The cool thing about this game and the cube is you are building in 3d on all 6 sides of the cube continuously. Using the goggles was way better. Same issues with using the control buttons, you may make your goggles out of focus by pushing the button I definitely want to check out other games and apps with these two, and I am glad I got them. I think my kids would love using these also Th vr goggles also have a pop out in the cover to allow camera use (for the cube and other apps)

I have been interested in VR for a while so I was happy to try out this VR headset. These don't look all too bad and don't look cheap. They're made of foam and are pretty durable, at least during the time that I have used it so far. Only time will tell if it holds up. I used an iPhone 6s Plus and it was a little too big to fit in the slot. You can jam it in and it will still work. However, I'm uncertain if the foam will hold up through the years. Other phones work fine. Android phones and the smaller iPhones definitely seem to have a easier time fitting. I had trouble finding apps that I liked, but this is more me not being able to find something that fit my personal preference. I think VR apps are already pretty limited so hopefully some more creative ones will get released. The headset is very comfortable. I wear glasses and it still fit comfortable on my face. I wish the lens could adjust a bit further because there is a tiny bit of double vision. Using this headset for 360 videos is great. It really is different from just using your smartphone and moving it around. It does create an immersive experience. Merge has something called the Merge cube that goes with it. Alot of their apps take advantage of it. It's a foam cube that costs around $15. It was interesting to play around with but I wasn't entirely sold on its usefulness. All in all, this headset is a solid VR for the price. It's not as cheap as the Google Cardboard but it's not just a piece of cardboard with lens. It's a good cheaper alternative to the other more pricey ones. It's fun for kids and I think if you want to get into the world of VR without breaking the bank, the Merge headset is a good choice.

As can be seen via a nearby label, I was given a unit for free in exchange for an unbiased review. Overall, these a great goggles for the price-point; they do demonstrate virtual and augmented reality well enough to get a feel for this tech. And since they’re designed for the pre-adolescent crowd (I have two!), these goggles bring the tech in spades. There is no Android/iOS requirement, physically, for the apparatus — it’s the size of the device that counts (everything is viewed in “split” horizontal screen when in goggle view). While they are well-made, realize the it’s basically a rubberized foam headpiece that contains two semi-movable lenses into which you slide your smartphone (iPhone 7 Plus makes for a very tight — but doable — squeeze). There are a reasonable number of apps and plenty of YouTube-based videos made for VR to keep anyone busy for hours checking this stuff out. If content is VR-compatible, it’ll work with. Again, because of the age group in question, most apps will be catering to this demographic, so don’t expect much heavier content than Star Wars to be represented. Having some time ago tried a pair of a friend’s Samsung goggles (that cost hundreds more and included earpieces), you won’t have exactly the same experience, but it won’t be that far off, either. All in all, I think these goggles make a fine entry point into AR/VR for those who wish to spend under $100. My kids certainly bother me about helping them find content to view!

Great mobile VR headset. Zero Regrets

I've been wanting to try out a virtual reality headset for a while now. After reading a lot about different ones I decided to try out these Merge VR's. I have to say, they're pretty cool! The first thing that stood out was how durable they are. They're made out of a soft foam and can already say that they stand up well to abuse from kids/travel. I downloaded a couple of the apps I recommended on the Merge site, loaded my iPhone 6, and was pretty impressed. Is it as clear and immersive as the Vive? Probably not. But for a mobile VR option, these are great especially for the price. They're really comfortable, and doesn't fog up. I can wear my glasses comfortably, which is a definite bonus. The lens adjustments are easy to use and the buttons on top are a cool feature. I'm looking forward to trying more apps that make better use of the buttons though. Overall very intuitive and easy to use. We recently took it with us on a road trip, and it kept the kids entertained (worth it's weight for that alone). My kids have my retired iPhone 5S and it worked just fine too. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase. If you're looking for a VR headset that doesn't require a specific phone and travels well, I can definitely recommend this one.

The MergeVR are virtual reality goggles based on Google cardboard. These goggles are lightweight and constructed of a foam material. The foam construction makes the goggles comfortable to wear and prevents light leaks. The optics in these goggles seem to be really good and create less distortion than my cheaper VR goggles. This is important if you are sensitive to VR allowing longer use. These goggles have selection buttons on the top for integrated actions in games and apps. You can use these goggles with any virtual reality application that supports Google cardboard. Merge has their own curated application site https://mergevr.com/miniverse where you can find many games educational apps and tours. Merge has an accessory called the Merge Cube for an augmented reality experience, this works well with these goggles and is really cool! If you are looking for some good VR goggles for an affordable price these are a great choice.

    Best VR Goggles for Phones

There's nothing not to like about the Merge VR Goggle . I have a few other goggles based on Google cardboard which look high quality but are heavy, only fit one model and are usually uncomfortable and hard to control. The Merge VR goggles do not look cheap although they are made of foam - a high quality one as they claim, comfortable, easy to control, and the phones fit tight but it's not a problem because the foam stretches. Quality was better using an iPhone 7 Plus but a regular iPhone 7 was not bad. Personally, I do not really love VR goggles on any phone because the image always look grainy but once you get over it, the Merge will not disappoint. The usual roller coaster and a few other apps worked well but my best experience was when I ran the AnatomyAR+ app along with the Merge Cube which is an accessory that you can purchase separately. Both my 8- and 17-year-old loved it and I must admit I liked it too.

The goggles are very comfortable. I can last a while wearing it. The buttons need figuring out-- though the instructions provided are helpful. I am a savvy person myself but I had to figure out how to do this--- it's my first time working on a mobile phone VR goggles-- if you are not too well-versed in devices, there is a curve in figuring out. The fit is great if you have small eyeglasses. Luckily, my eyeglasses are small so it fits right in the goggles-- but if you are wearing bigger frames, it will be a challenge to use the goggles with it. Works pretty well though with google maps street view and other apps i tried it on. Just make sure you try them on before you purchase especially if you have eyeglasses!

The Merge is comfortable to wear and worked well with my large Galaxy Note 4. Like many of these budget VR sets, you cannot go into these expecting the world. If you do, you will be let down. I really like foam construction of the material used. Awesome design build. openings on the sides allowed for my earbuds to be connected to my phone for additional immersion. I really like the merge, but my Note 4 screen resolution is the issue right now. Real life video apps were a little grainy due to my screen resolution. It would be great to see the difference with the Note 7. The focusing of the lens on this unit was pretty easy and are located perfectly at the top, like 2 controller thumbsticks. Overall - Great design, rugged, comfortable, forgiving for those with larger phones. Worth a buy.

I've never used any vr headset prior to this. Phone VR is not the same as a dedicated VR headset, so to me, this is just meh. It's not bad for being foam piece that can fit various phones. I'm using the Galaxy s6, and even that can barely fit, so I doubt any of the current flagship phones will fare better. The construction is alright and the buttons do an okay job, mainly just used for menu selection. It's not too heavy but can get uncomfortable after a short time. The main issues I have are the straps and focus. The straps are thick and they dig into top of my ears. The other con is the lens not being in focus no matter how much I adjust. At best the center is clear, but edges are a bit blurry and after a while started giving me headaches. The experience all depends on the apps, and there's nothing amazing. Using a phone for VR is not there yet.

I have a 10 and 13 year old and they can't put these VR goggles down. The only reason they have to set them down is to recharge their phones. I love the that the kids can drop these goggles and I know that they will not break. I also love the price point, it is very fair for these goggles. My kids have really enjoyed the content provided by Merge and of course there is so much great VR content out there. I highly recommend these VR goggles, especially if you have kids.

Pros -Can wear with prescription glasses with no worries or compromise. (I wear the small framed rectangular ones that are very popular these days) -Fits iphone 4s, 5s, and even the 6 plus. I can fit the 5s without taking the case off, but I have to use the naked 6 plus for this headset. -Extremely comfortable material -Easy fit -Can be used without the head strap since you can lift it up and just hold it to your face while still being able to use the trigger controls -Can fit in most headphones through the side slot or the opening in front foam insert. -Quite decent selection of free apps -App stability seems quite good too. Very few app crashes. -The protective foam seems like it can survive a drop or two with no worries to the lenses. -Triggers on the top and bottom seem quite sturdy but responsive. Has a slight cheap plastic feel but okay for this price range. Cons - Needs better headphone access due to some iphone, case, jack configurations.

The Merge VR Goggles are a great buy if you are considering getting into VR. The goggles are very comfortable (the most comfortable I have tried) make these goggles easy to wear for extend periods of time. The price can't be beat if you are considering trying out VR. The button controls work great and there are a number of apps and Youtube videos that you can enjoy in VR. The selection of apps isn't as great as I would have hoped, but that isn't a fault of the goggles. My only criticism of the goggles is that light leaks in from the top slot where the phone is inserted. Would have been nice to have a way to keep the light from bleeding in. Overall, if you are considering getting into VR or want to experience VR without breaking the bank, the Merge VR goggles are a great buy.
