This is a great Amazon Echo speaker alternative. It has a nice screen and good speaker. Chatting works through Facebook messenger and Whatsapp. So basically everyone can connect. It's just more hoops to jump through when you want people to connect though.

Recommended to me by our office IT person & appeared to be the least complicated & user friendly. It is. Will cut to the chase here to say my mother is absolutely bedside herself with her new “toy”. She is now in visual contact with family members, which means the world to her. Only 2 warnings: Set up can be hampered when setting up new accounts w/ Facebook. Tried 4 times. There is Facebook Portal Support available online only. They respond, but the response is delayed by a good few days. They will correct the issue, but you’ll need to wait a few days for them to resolve the issue. 4 stars due to the ridiculous difficulty of setting my mother up on FB. Once set up, it’s awesome. Other caveat is this is Facebook so not the most secure form of communication. Not concerned as not planning any heists in the future, near or far. Good product.

We love the Portal to stay in touch with our son who is just moved into his first apartment and needs guidance with cooking and other apartment living. This product is a Godsend. It makes it so easy to keep in touch and help him without being there. It also gives him company but allows him his independence as well. The only issue is that he has issue with clear speech and the Portal doesn't understand him. It would be nice if you can change the name to something that is easier for him to pronounce. Fortunately he can manually connect without an issue. Love to see it be more portable and not always connected via a cord - battery or bluetooth would be wonderful!

Purchased this to make the social distancing easier to handle. Use it to talk to my granddaughter...The size is perfect and I love that camera will follow you .

Are use the Mira portal to chat with my mom. I know my mom love this product. I miss her very much. I just lost her in November.

This is a great device! Especially during Covid, but really I can see this being really great going forward to talk with family that lives hours away. It is very easy to set up using a Facebook account, and it really seems easy to use. The camera and screen quality are amazing, too. It doesn't do as much as some of the other "smart home" options out there (Alexa or Google Nest), but it isn't really for that with our family that we bought it for and to communicate with. It still has "ask Alexa" capabilities, which is great, though. Anyone with a Messenger account can call and talk.

We received a Portal a couple of years ago from our daughter's family who live far away. Best gift ever! They also have a Portal, and our visits with them are a delight! We recently gifted our other daughter and her (till they got it, resistant) family with one, and also one for our son. All love it. It's SO easy to reach each other- just push a button. You can also use it to talk/see several Portal viewers at once. To us it seems more like a real visit in their homes than on a phone, tablet or computer. Portal has numerous other features as well. Grandkids love the special effects and reading stories to us!

Pretty easy to use and make calls. It needs to be plugged in, which makes placement an issue. It could really benefit from a battery or a swing arm.

We purchased the Facebook Portal for our mom who resides in a nursing home as we don't have access to her during this COVID-19 pandemic. The nursing home has a program that allows video communication but it requires a call to the recreation department, getting on a list, and having the availability and time to meet with my mom to assist with the video call - too much and times don't work well. The Facebook Portal is awesome, after a 10 minute setup to connect to the nursing homes wi-fi, create a Facebook account for Mom, adding Moms Facebook Family and Friends, and adding her favorites to the home screen, Mom was able to call any of her family and friend for her own video calls without the assistance of the staff from the nursing home. We can call her and video chat anytime as well. Along with that, there is internet capabilities for additional entertainment access to Netflix, Hulu, and VUDU we set up for Mom since she loves to watch movies. The voice command feature works really well for navigation and choosing personnel to call. I also like that both parties are able to turn on/off video and still have voice. Conference calling is nice too (the face art is cool with the kids too during conference calls.) Good Job Facebook! A couple cons to this device is: -It's a little heavy for my elderly Mom to hold (but she keeps it sitting on the lunch table she keeps in front of her.) -It doesn't have a dedicated App for movie viewing - Mom will be calling you - so you better have multiple people she likes to talk to available in her favorites (especially if you have a job. - Not fond of the glass screen and no protective cover - should have used gorilla glass or a plastic type screen (actual screen resides behind the glass.) - The Facebook Portal has to be plugged into an outlet to work (which is great if there is a plug near the surface it will reside on) Great device and technology works really well

This device works great and easy to use. You can use various apps like Facebook messenger and the camera even track you. Picture quality is great and easy to use with Alexa.

I like this device alot more then I thought I would. The ability to be completely hands free and move around freely is a def bonus. My daughter who lives in Jersey and I who lives in Florida have been cooking dinner together routinely since Christmas because I got us each one. It had really brought us together even with the miles between us. Cuddos to FB. My husband also enjoys watching all of our pictures scrolling past. And it does countless things and has a search bar. The speaker on it was surprising. AND THE CAMERA AND MICS ARE JUST AS AMAZING!!!

Our new Portal is completely awesome!!! It follows us as we move and communicate with family! The picture is very clear and setting up was a breeze!

Love the Portal! It makes it so easy to stay in touch with family. The extra bonus of having a slideshow of your favorite photos is so nice.

This product has a great picture quality and auto focusing to where you are in the room. I wish it would be more portable with an internal battery. It needs to be plugged in to work.

This has been a great tool to stay in touch with my 87-year-old father. With access to his Facebook account, I can upload pictures each week that he can see when it is idle and sitting by his chair like a picture frame. When I call him with it, it tracks to his face so I can see him. He doesn't need to know how to use it other than to say, "hey Portal answer" or "hey Portal call ***". He can call any family that I put in his Facebook contacts. Great device!

It's nice. Like the landscape or horizontal option. Easy to set up but seems kinda slow . Could be a bit cheaper considering there really aren't much improvements( imo) since the release model.

If you can get your hands on one of these, you must. It has Facebook Messenger, Zoom and Teams.

Loving it. Sound quality is very good and very easy to configure as a photo frame.
