Love the pro!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The pro is such a good investment I feel like it sit on your head better then the quest 2 and the facial tracking is definitely awesome considering all my friends on meta horizon has facial tracking as well… I feel like just the overall design is sleek and beautiful and when your playing I prefer the view on the pro because it’s more clear and vibrant… and I love the controllers! They are slightly heavily but feels more sturdy and just fits more better in my hands! Also I love how the charging dock is there super simple to charge… love it so much me and my husband both have a Pro!

Amazing graphical clarity
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ive owned the occulus rift and quest 2 and neither come close to the graphical capabilities nor the comfortability of this unit. The controls are designed much more stream lined and easy to handle as well. My one complaint would be the amount of light leak that is allows to come in from thr bottom of the face gap.

Immerses you in another world & relaxing apps are amazing too! Only complaint is they hurt my forehead sometimes, so I wear a thin headband that helps a lot.

Hands down vr set winner
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The clarity is next level. Super fast and responsive. I have 0 complaints. I added the pro blocker attachment which really puts you in another universe when operating this beast. The possibilities are endless on what programmers can do from here. Spend the extra money on the Pro for quality and clarity you won’t regret it!

Nice upgrade from the Quest 2
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded from Quest 2, more comfortable, better quality video and controllers, has color camera for boundary view, and controllers are finally rechargeable! Also has facial expression tracking, not sure how I feel about that yet.

A high quality Quest 2. But is that what you want?
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: -Build Quality and design of headset and controllers -Comfortable -Slim, portable charging dock -Sharper display and colors with a slightly better horizontal field of view -Passthrough camera is now in color Cons: -Very poor image quality from color passthrough, unable to read off of backlit digital displays -No network storage support (eg. Samba) -Lack of standalone business and productivity apps The Quest Pro is a good looking piece of kit. It’s an unassuming matte black, aside from the front of the headset, which is glossy. The build feels solid and premium, especially the Pro controllers. The Pro controllers feel nice in the hands and the buttons are responsive and relatively quiet, including the trigger buttons. They’re a lot better than the Quest 2 controllers. They’re able to track independently so they don’t need to be in the line of sight of the headset. You can replace the strap with included nibs for use with apps that support it for better precision. The headset wears comfortably as long as you don’t tighten the fit too tight. Otherwise the pressure of the wear is felt mostly on your forehead. There is an ample amount of cushioning from what feels like faux leather to me. Unlike the Quest 2, which had only 3 preset IPD distances, the Quest Pro has continuous IPD adjustment from the range of 55-75mm. Instead of using a glasses separator like the Quest 2, the Quest Pro has a dial in front of the headset which allows you to adjust how near or far lens are from your face, which allows spacing for glasses. There’s no dioptric adjuster like with the GearVR or binoculars, so if you wear glasses, you’ll need them when wearing the headset. It comes with a USB-C charging dock which is surprisingly slim and lightweight, so it’s portable. It’s about 1.75” at its thickest but mostly ¾" inch thick elsewhere. The dock charges both the headset and the controllers. And because it’s powered through a USB-C port, you don’t need proprietary cables or chargers. The controllers connect to the dock magnetically, while the headset doesn’t. Setup is simple and straightforward. If you’ve owned a Quest 2, it is exactly like that. In fact, the whole operating system is just like the Quest 2. You’re just running it on Quest Pro hardware. With that said, out of the box it isn’t traditionally suited for enterprise use. There’s no way to centrally manage the device or provision them for deployment. No biometric security, despite having facial recognition cameras. No network drive support. No external USB storage support. There is also no way to organize files or the apps you’ve downloaded. Any app you’ve downloaded will permanently remain visible in your library, regardless of whether it is installed or not. The Quest operating system is best suited for VR gaming and entertainment. You can however, multitask by opening up to 3 different 2D windows or apps at once. The Quest Pro has a color passthrough camera, which appears to be a black and white camera with a color overlay. At times, I can see part of the visuals in black and white. The quality of this camera is unfortunately similar to that of the Quest 2’s. The only noticeable difference is that it’s in color. There’s a lot of noise, which results in things appearing blurry. It makes it tough to read things in the real world, making the Quest Pro a very poor Mixed Reality device. You also can’t read anything from a backlit screen because it produces a glare when seen from the Quest Pro. So you can’t see what's on your monitor, smartphone, or TV, among other things. The visuals are what shine with the Quest Pro, and I believe it’s due to the pancake optics. Compared to the Quest 2, you get a slightly better horizontal field of view (no change with vertical though), and the colors look more robust on the Quest Pro. It is so much easier to find the sweet spot of the display when putting on the headset than it was with the Quest 2. The visuals are also slightly sharper despite having roughly the same resolution as the Quest 2. But that’s another problem with the Quest Pro. There’s no improvement in resolution. So when you’re multitasking with multiple windows on the Quest Pro, everything still looks soft, and the edges look jagged, despite text being legible. It can make working on it an uncomfortable experience. By no means would it ever be a desktop replacement for me. While it disappoints me in work, with gaming it’s a welcome improvement over the Quest 2. Since the headset doesn’t apply pressure to my face, I can wear it for a longer period of time comfortably. The controllers feel like a high-end gaming console’s controllers. And the visuals in games pop a bit better than the Quest 2. Unfortunately, the battery only lasts about 2 hours from my tests. I read that Meta suggested it was 1 to 2 hours but I was never able to get it to be as bad as 1 hour. The Quest Pro has a USB-C port located on the left side of the headset that you can charge or transfer data from. Or you can charge the headset on the included dock. Both methods will take 1.5 hours to charge the headset from 0% to 100%, using the included 45W charging adapter. The controllers take 3 hours and 8 minutes to charge from 0% to 100%. There are facial recognition cameras that can capture your facial expressions for your avatar to display. However, this feature along with other biometric features such as hand tracking, are turned off by default for privacy concerns. At the moment, with the lack of apps supporting it, I find it more of a novelty. It also makes for an awkward experience as an early adopter as the other people you collaborate with will need a Quest Pro also to be able to have the facial expression feature. While the Quest Pro supposedly has a 50% better processor than the Quest Pro, I haven’t been able to notice its benefits. All the apps made for Quest were designed for the Quest 2 or earlier headsets. Besides that, I’ve found that the Quest Pro still struggles with loading pages quickly with the native Meta Quest Browser. The browser also isn’t supported by some websites, making it difficult to work from as a true standalone device. I couldn’t find anything in the options to sign into VPN. The native file manager is barebones and has no access to the local network via Samba or anything of the sort. There is no native option to access popular 3rd party cloud storage, such as Google Drive or Dropbox. It only allows cloud syncing with Meta. Unfortunately, almost everything I loved about the Quest Pro I could already do with the Quest 2. I don’t think the better comfort and the premium controllers justify the additional cost, especially when I take into account pricey features like facial recognition, which doesn’t have real practical use at this stage. Meta set such a low bar with its color passthrough camera, which was absolutely critical for the Mixed Reality experience on it to be worth anything while. But instead it settles for mediocre visuals. Because of that, I can’t with good conscience recommend buying the Quest Pro. Not right now.

The Future of VR
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Quest Pro is an excellent piece of hardware, with enough features to impress VR and AR veterans, as well as newcomers. The ease of use, performance, comfort and usability are all greatly improved on the Quest Pro. I believe the price will be the barrier of entry for most. That's not to say the Quest Pro isn't worth it's price. I believe it is. The improvements that have been made are immediately clear to anyone who has used a VR or AR headset before. For starters, switching to the halo-style strap (similar to the Rift S or PlayStation VR) is a much more comfortable experience. Along with the new strap, moving the battery to the back of the headset was a great choice. It balances the headset very well, adding to the improved fit. I'm able to use the headset for much longer sessions without any discomfort. Speaking of comfort, adjusting the lenses for your IPD is very easy now. Even better, with the option to enable the inward facing cameras, you can have the headset help you set the proper IPD for your face. This is such a useful and easy way to set up the headset. I kind of wish there was a prompt to enable this feature during setup. When those inward facing cameras are enabled, eye tracking seems so much like the future. I was very impressed at how well the Quest Pro tracked my eyes too. Setup was easy, as you just followed an onscreen dot as it moved across the screen. I'd really like to see more games take advantage of foveated rendering (rendering what you're currently looking at a higher fidelity). I think Red Matter 2 is the only game taking advantage of this now, which I haven't had a chance to try just yet. Visual quality is a huge improvement to me as well. I think this is in the most part due to the new pancake-style lenses. This not only helps to make the headset smaller, but also helps with distortion on the edges of the lenses. Things look sharper, and there is much less of the bloom/glow that I'm used to seeing on the Quest 2. Audio is a notable upgrade as well. If you've used a Quest 2, you'll notice a large upgrade to the audio quality from the built-in speakers. Sound is not only louder, but fuller sounding. The controllers are a hugely improved as well. I was wondering how well the tracking would work, since Meta removed the tracking ring and switched to sensors on the controllers, so they track themselves. The new tracking is superb. I think it's even better than the previous controllers. Not only is the tracking much improved, but without the rings, you're able to basically touch your hands together, which you couldn't really do on the previous controllers, since the tracking rings would collide. It may sound like a subtle thing that doesn't add much, but it definitely helps in not breaking the immersion. Now, on to probably one of the biggest new features of the Quest Pro- color passthrough. This is a very welcome upgrade. being able to see your surroundings in color and interacting with virtual items set in your actual environment is very cool. Playing Demeo in mixed reality is probably the thing that has been the most impressive for me personally. Since Demeo is essentially a board game, being able to place the board onto your physical table and literally walk around the board feels like magic. There are a few things that I feel could use some work. First, the resolution seems a bit lower than I expected. Your room lighting plays a large part in how grainy the video can be, but even with bright lighting, it's still not quite what I had hoped for. Secondly, the physical space setup isn't quite as easy as I've seen in other augmented/mixed reality setups. That being said, it's still easy to set up, it just may take a bit longer, since you have to kind of define the objects in your space, rather than them just being detected. Another very welcome addition is the included dock. It's an elegant, low-profile disc-shaped platform that charges both the headset and controllers. It makes hopping into VR/AR feel like less of a commitment, since it's always ready to go. I am still having a little trouble placing the controllers on the dock though, since they area/way they fit on the dock is kind of specific. Lastly, I think the only real negative about the Quest Pro is that the available software kind of needs to catch up. The problem though, is if developers will be willing to add extra development time if the install base isn't there. I have no doubt that Meta will continue to improve the features of the Meta over time. They've shown their commitment by all the massive improvements to the Quest 2 over the years. I'm sure there will be some excellent additions to the Pro as well. Gravity sketch and Demeo are excellent showcases for the Quest Pro, with hopefully many more to come. Pros: Great visual quality, easy to set up, comfortable, improved audio, excellent tracking, outstanding new controllers, convenient dock Cons: Color passthrough resolution isn't quite where I hoped it would be. Hopefully this can be improved over time. Software that takes advantage of the Pro's features isn't abundant just yet. Though, I'm hopeful this will improve over the next couple of months.

Metas best VR headset yet!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although I have used VR many times in the past, I have never previously owned a VR headset. Currently there are so many models of VR on the market and they include everything from something you put your phone inside of, to self-contained systems, to VR headsets that require a highly capable PC to run. Meta has been in the VR market for quite some time and up until now has been focused on lower priced consumer products. The Meta quest pro is their first step into the professional and more work focused market. When you unbox the Meta quest pro you will find a few different things in the box. First is the headset itself, the two controllers, a charging dock, a lens cover, stylus tips for the controls and a few other things. I was very impressed that Meta included a charging brick in the box. Many devices now a days do not include the charging brick and only have a USB cable. Setting up the devices took a little bit of time but it was a very simple process and the devices walked you through each step. I believe Meta put a lot of effort into making this headset comfortable. Many VR headset after a few hours are no longer comfortable and can even make some people sick. This is not the case with the quest pro. I love how light it is and it only sits on the back and forehead. There is no strap going over the top which can put a little more pressure on your forehead but in my testing, I personally found this more comfortable. Also, these are light eight meaning that when they are on your head, they do not feel like it. Most VR headset block out your peripheral vision. Although it is possible to add on a piece that blocks it, I preferred to have my peripheral vision not blocked. This gives you a higher sense of awareness around you. Also, you do not feel as Closter phobic. Because of the design you can even where glasses with the headset on. Although I found that I was able to adjust the lenses enough that I did not need my glasses. Battery life on these is about 1-2 hours of continuous play time. Although this number might seem relatively low, I do not think it matters. It is good to take a break after playing that long anyway and the charging is relatively fast. If you do not want to stop playing to charge them you can easily plug them in with the chord provided which is plenty long. They also come with a piece to route the cable out of your way and it is a 90-degree cable which makes it easier to use them while charging. The quest pro also has the capability of AR which will use the cameras to allow you to put lay artificial objects over what is actually in front of you. I found the video quality was fairly great. These also have full face tracking. In games such as Horizon worlds it allows your facial emotions and expressions to be seen on your avatar by people around you in the game. In games like horizon world or workspaces it allows you to have real interactions with other real people and it feels much more immersive. I only found two quirky things that hopefully can be worked out with future updates. The first one is that in Horizon worlds from time to time I could not make a thumbs up with my right hand. It worked a few times but for the most part it would not work. It is not the end of the world but kind of weird. The other is that I tried to play the poker game and it did not work that well. First, I could not move which way I was looking and so instead of it being in front of me I had to turn to the side and there was stuff in the way. Then somehow the poker table was almost near the floor and I was not able to pick up my cards easily without bending all the way to the floor. More than likely this is human error on my part and I just need to dive into the settings. However, it was not blatantly obvious how to make the necessary changes. If you are someone how is interested in VR I would definitely look into this system. It might not be the cheapest system on the market. With the features it offers and ability to target the workforce I believe it is much more competitive with even pricier systems. One of the best things is that everything is built in and it is easy to travel with or carry in a bag. Meaning it can be used anywhere. With the advanced features of this system over other Meta systems, this is more capable than every before. If you are using it for work or to interact with others in any way, I believe the facial tracking is a great feature.
