Is it really a Metal Gear game? I am not sure myself. I have played a few hours but watched more vidoes than gameplay. But I only payed $20 for this game and it is "ok".

Let's get a couple things out of the way. The title of the game says it all: "Metal Gear SURVIVE", meaning this is a survival game with a Metal Gear backdrop that borrows its art style, gameplay mechanics and some story/items. So you're in an alternate world that you got to via wormhole and it's a desert. You have to hunt for food so you don't starve, gather water so you don't go thirsty. The more well-fed you are the better you perform in combat and activity. If you eat some bad food or drink bad water, you get sick and that reflects in your performance, sometimes you can throw up in intervals in the middle of a fight, until you create your own medicine to help with it. There are other ailments as well that affect you in different ways. That's the type of game this is. You have to take care of yourself in every step, you have to survive. You start off with a sharp pole that you lunge at zombie-acting infected soldiers. You progress and find ways to build your own weapons and a base to keep out the infected. Every mission introduces something new and so the campaign is like a big tutorial for people who are going to continue playing the game. Post-game you unlock more things like different classes and you then you can go online and use everything you have learned to play a PvE zombie base defense mode. They are going to add more content updates and probably modes in the future. It keeps pulling me back in. The combat is good and you are at many moments hanging on by a thread, meaning it can be difficult and my character died numerous times in the first few hours and I see that it will continue to happen as I get better. There is definitely different skill ceilings in this game and it rewards people who play more. I recommend it if you're looking for a survival game that is single-player and multiplayer. I don't recommend if you are upset because it's not a Metal Gear Solid main entry game and you were looking for something like that or something with a deep story.
