    Did the trick

I bought a Pioneer-DEH-2200UB head unit for my 2005 Civic EX Coupe. Most other installation kits for this car replace the factory pocket (with door!) with a shallower hole not deep enough to hold CDs and susceptible to tossing out its contents if you stop quickly. Therefore, we were pleased to find this product as an alternative. I decided to install the stereo "ISO"-style rather than DIN-style (it supports either sort of install). At 8mm long, the screws that came with the radio were not long enough to go through both the mounting bracket to which the factory radio was attached and the 2 mm of additional distance added by the bracket in this kit, so I picked up some longer screws at a hardware store and it worked fine. I'm not sure why others had to modify the supplied hardware to get it to fit. Perhaps my radio's dimensions are a bit different. The kit worked fine for me without modification. At first, it seemed that the front piece was going to stick out in front of the factory pocket. I removed the pocket, snapped in the front piece and reinstalled the pocket and it fit just fine. The color didn't match perfectly, as the OEM dash is a black with tiny flecks of white or silver to make it look a little snazzier. This kit is a flat black. Fact remains that both are ultimately basically black and you don't notice unless you're looking for it. The radio sits a little further back than you might expect it to. This doesn't really bother me, as it does not impede operation. Had I mounted it DIN style, it would have been recessed only a little less (probably 2-4 mm). All in all, this product allowed me to complete my aftermarket stereo install without requiring replacement of other key components :) in the car.

    Some work required

I chose this product over the others because I really did not like the look of the aftermarket storage slot. The piece itself fits the factory hole perfectly which allows you to retain the factory storage compartment. However the Kenwood head unit I planned on installing would not sit at the appropriate depth. Upon further inspection I realized that the inner lip of this plastic piece was too deep and kept the head unit from being installed in a shallower spot. After sanding down the lip about 1/16th of an inch I was able to get everything in the right spot. Bottom line: If you are doing this yourself be prepared for some slight modification. It does provide a solution to keep the factory storage bin.

This install kit was easy to use. However, once assembled, it is difficult to dissasemble, so take care.

    Very Poor Design & Fit

Requires a lot of Dremel modification to get the kit to work with a standard 1-din aftermarket stereo. In the end it still did not fit good. Waste of time and money.

    Horrible design!

I read the previous review and thought that I would be that one person that it would work for. I was wrong. This does need some major modification to fit properly. Buy yourself a dremel power tool because you're going to need to sand down the inner lip to about 1/8" before it fits properly. Have someone do it for you. Spend in instilation fee and get it done. Save yourself the aggravation!!
