Metropolis is a story of how important emotions are and how they separate humans from everything else. The movie follows a young boy and his uncle (a private investigator). The story is set in the far future where humans and robots live together, unfortunately not in harmony. Many robots are forced underground and are terminated for entering unauthorized areas. They are more or less servants to humankind. The plot starts to unfold when the boy meets a robot named Tima and they get in all kinds of trouble. Never a dull moment when you've got a robot by your side.

I honestly only bought it to add the nice metallic case to my collection. The movie wasn't as great as I thought it was going to be.

I keep an eye out for SteelBook releases on a daily basis, and for whatever reason, this movie had slipped under the radar for me. This is a great movie; a retelling of it's silent film counterpart. The cover are of this SteelBook edition is quite nice too. It looks similar to the original cover art but has its own unique flair to it.

So I am bugged by this. The new anime "Metropolis" Blu-ray steelbook edition has extra features on the disc. Usually steelbook editions and regular editions have the same content. Here Mill Creek blew it. It's just the movie and audio/subtitle options. So disappointed. At least I have the film.

I bought the DVD many years ago and had to get this one too. The steel case looks beautiful and feels nice. HD quality is amazing. Perfect addition to my anime steelbook collection.

I enjoyed the film but some parts were confusing and slow.

The movie itself takes a little bit to get going, and the artwork takes a little getting used to since it's golden age graphics. But once the plot gets going it's an excellent well written and touching movie.

I was surprised to see Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis get a steel book edition, and one with a wonderful art cover. A favorite classic animated sci fi film of mine.

I've been looking for this for years since I first saw it on DVD. The blu ray upgrade is great. The film features brilliant animation and a unique jazzy score. Highly recommended!

I had seen this movie listed as one of the better anime movies but I had never gotten around to watching it. I finally decided to pick it up and I was definitely not disappointed.

One of the nicest anime films I've seen, with beautiful, fluid animation, and a unique and charming style. The story is simple and the characters are not as fleshed out as they could have been, but it is a must see for the art alone.
