    Terrific Practice Amp

I've been using this amp for eight months, it has been totally reliable. The sound quality in general is very good. It models a variety of classic amp sounds and does so very well. Most users will usually find one or two amps they like and stick with them. The effects have a real nice sound but are limited in adjustments. No real surprise for built in effects, they are quite adequate for this application however. The built in tuner is handy for novice users, it will save buying a seperate tuner until they want to do more sophisticated drop tuning. There are two things I don't like about this amp. The first is it's low power. It is only 2.5 watts, this is adequate for practicing alone or wih maybe one other electric player at low volume. On the other hand, the low power makes it possible to run on batteries facilitating outdoor use with acoustic players. The other dislike is that the built in metronome and drum machine's rhthyms are adjusted only by a 'tap to adjust' button with no readout or other way to adjust the beats per minute. I found this limited it's functionality. Overall however, I think most users will really enjoy this as a practice amp. I run a portable CD player into the amp's auxillary input and this allows me to practice along with CD's. Very handy. It lends itself very well to practice in areas where volume must be controlled. It has been 100% reliable and Roland is known for excellent sound quality.
