I have had this product for 2 weeks now. It is great at tracking your sleep, exercise, calories, and steps. I have started to work out more now that I have it. I can't wait until the spring to track runs, bike rides, and golf games. It looks a little pricier than comparable products like the FitBit, but I believe you get more value. Plus you can track everything on your phone or the web dashboard.

The band 2 is fantastic at the gym, I use it all the time during weight lifting and training sessions, heart rate monitor is spot on as I tested it at doctors office and within 2 beats, nice job Microsoft. I wear it to track sleep, does fantastic. The Band2 out does FitBit and looks better. Like a small computer on your wrist.

Microsoft did right with its second iteration of the Microsoft Band 2.
With a slew of features being carried over from the original band and added features, it's tool that covers so much for an avid fitness user. The curved OLED display is a great and vibrant addition and the band is super comfortable.
The App still has some tinkering to do and I feel like the band gets scratched very easily. Battery life is pretty short, but manageable at a two day charge span.
All in all this is a great fitness tracker (if not the best out there). I can only imagine how the 3rd one will be.

This is the best purchase on a smart watch I could find for my everyday use ! It has alerts messaging Facebook phone calls emails, even controls music etc. My favorite feature is the heartbeat monitor and the ability to track your actual workout routine and gps runs! The real cool thing is it tracks your sleep. If your a gym rat and like to be techs this is a must buy.

I had the original Microsoft Band and never had the issues regarding the comfort of wearing it or the screen scratching easily that others had. However when the Band 2 came out I wanted one immediately because of the improved look and feel, seemingly more durable build and extra features that it had over the original Band. As a whole I have been pleased but 2 things that I don't like about the Band 2 in comparison to the original Band are:
1) Battery life is not as good as the original Band. I could easily go 2-3 days between charges with the original Band. If I do anything other than just wear the Band 2 it's not likely that I'll even make it to the end of day 2 and that's with as many power-saving settings enabled as is possible and it still be useful. Because of this I essentially have to charge it every day and it doesn't seem to charge as fast.
2) Sometimes I forget to put the Band/Band 2 into sleep mode. The original Band was great at detecting and still tracking my sleep almost every time I forgot. In all the time I've had the Band 2 it's only detected my sleep once when I forgot to put it in sleep mode.
One additional annoyance that is not directly related to the Band vs Band 2 is warranty replacement. With the original Band it was recommended that I go with the medium size band even though I was right on the Small/Medium sizing edge. Because I had to tighten the Band all the way to wear it effectively it started separating where the flexible band and screen module met which started leading to problems with the display. I called the Warranty number and explained what happened. They shipped me a brand new small to replace the original medium one and received it 2 days later. This was while they were still having issues keeping inventory in stock in stores. 3 weeks ago the battery on my Band 2 stopped charging and when I called and explained what happened they made me ship the Band 2 back before they would ship a replacement. It was 8 days after they received my defective one back before the shipped a replacement and a total of 2 weeks between the warranty process being started and me receiving a replacement. Fortunately I still had my original Band and it's still perfectly functional so I didn't have to go completely without. However the replacement was neither my repaired Band 2 nor a new Band 2. Functionally the replacement is fine but cosmetically it was obviously used and abused by whoever had it before me.

Very nice fitness band. The battery life is a bit lacking, but otherwise, the band is very nice and accurate. I love the GPS capability on board.

Best balance of smart watch and fitness tracker

I've been using the Band for about 3 weeks now, and I'm thoroughly smitten with it. For me, it's the best balance of a smart watch (text messages, app notifications, phone calls, etc.) and a robust fitness accessory (heartrate, workouts, gps tracking on a run, sleep tracker, etc.). In fact, but for the "app gap," this product is so good, I would switch from my beloved iPhone (been a user since 2009) to the Microsoft Lumia phone to get even better integrating between my phone and Band. If you're a busy person who enjoys working out and being fit, you owe it to yourself to check this out.

The band is really accurate with running and working out. The only downsides to the band is that the screen orientation cannot be changed and determining the best time of day to charge the band.

The Microsoft band 2 is a great multi-functional band. It is easy to set up and the phone app works well with it.
Cons are the very limited battery life. I have to charge mine every night. When using the GPS, and heart rate monitor the battery runs down even quicker.
Microsoft does not pair with my Fitness Equipment, Technogym and I am constantly having to log in my activity on the web site. I had a Fitbit charge that had a much longer battery life and paired with Technogym but not as accurate as the Band.
I like the band and hope Microsoft continues to improve its functionality.
I would recommend it with RESERVATIONS. I do believe there are better ones available

Band fits comfortably and if it starts to hug too tightly during a work out you can adjust the tightness very easily. The compatibility across platforms is a nice addition as well. Band screen is very customizable and displays alot of information for such a small display. Despite the band designed with the screen on the inside of your wrist, ie with the screen on the desk while typing, the screen has proven to be very resilient and stands up to the abuse of slamming it against things very well. My prior fitness band made me sync data through the headphone jack which made me pull the case off my phone to sync, so the bluetooth sync function is nice. Overall I'm very happy with the band and if I had to pick a negative it would be the 2 day battery life. Charge it while you shower helps that greatly.

I have used my band every day since I got it, it is very comfortable , I could wear it on either my left or right wrist because the screen rotates. there is more detailed info on my runs and clock mode. I also like how I can create my own workout the sync it to the band. the barometer sensor makes me feel like I get a more accurate reading of my runs because I can see my steps climbed.

Fitness + Smartwatch = MS Band 2

I was using Fitbit flex and I replaced it with the Band 2. I like the idea of fitness and smartwatch combined into one product. I use it with my Windows Phone. The materials are soft and it feels light on the wrist. I love the sleep tracking function. I use it everyday now. Smart alarm is another great feature. I get 2 days of battery life and it takes about 1.5 hours to charge it completely. I just wish it had bigger battery for longer life.

Earlier this year, I returned a Microsoft Band 1 after three days. Primarily because of the poor fit, feel and looks of the band itself. I liked the functionality and related apps but it never felt comfortable to wear. However Microsoft addressed every concern I had and then some with the Band 2. I've had it for a week and feels comfortable on my wrist like my expensive watch. They also added more features to both the band and software too.

I was eager to pick up the Microsoft Band 2 for both a Fitness tracker and a Smartwatch. I ha heard good things about it. Unfortunately, while it is an excellent fitness tracker, it is hampered as a smartwatch unless it is paired with a windows phone. On Android you get no Cortana, no typing responses to texts (only pre-programmed responses) I found the price too much for something that could not perform as a smartwatch. And while I might have been ok with the price for a fitness tracker, It was also too high for a fitness tracker that was not waterproof.
Do not get me wrong It functions excellently as a tracker, just a bit pricey for my comfort.

Great update to the original band. The new functions from the recent firmware update make the band a formidable competition in the the fitness band market. The minimal design is great for those that feel uncomfortable with a watch like band like apple or Samsung. Onboard GPS is nice too. Only gripe if I had to find one is not really a gripe. Battery last about 2 days max, would be nice if it was longer but it's not a deal breaker.

Great Sensors But Battery Life Should Be Better

This is probably the best combination fitness / smart watch on the market. As for fitness, the sensors are numerous and very accurate. It is well known that Hr is off by at least 10% on most fitness bands. The Microsoft band 2 beats convention with readings identical to my chest strap HR monitor. The Windows app is also among the best as is the GPS. My only regret is the battery only lasts a day and a half with GPS on.

I bought the band Oct 26th 2015. I don't have a problem with the bands function. It worked as it was supposed to. Here's my problem it's now February 23rd 2016 and the picture shows what I have left. On the morning of the 22nd I woke up and put on my band, by the time I arrived at the gym that evening it was split and by the next morning it no longer functioned. Had this been a $99 dollar Fitbit (which lasted 2 years) I might not have been so upset. This device actually cost $249.00. I would have expected it to at least make it a year. We made it 3 mos 27 days. Unfortunately, Best Buy won't cover it and word on the street is that Microsoft won't either. So after tax its my $273.74 mistake. Buy the way I was not doing 500 yd low crawls through gravel, it gave up the ghost on its own.

Overall I really like this band. Very happy how it syncs with the app on my phone, the bluetooth has never dropped since having it. Everything seems pretty accurate, except for the GPS. When you have the GPS powersaver enabled, it doesn't accurately track your distance and pace when running. On average, it is usually about a quarter mile off, and the pace is sometimes a full minute off. The battery life is also not as good as you would expect out of a band. My wife's last a little longer than mine, so it could just be mine as well. The GPS and battery performance is the only reason I did not rate it as a 5.

If you are in between sizes I recommend getting the smaller size, the band will stretch a little. Very comfortable, and easy to use. Battery lasts about 2 full days and charges quickly. works with all 3 cell phone operating systems. Make sure to first update the Microsoft app before trying to sync to your phone the first time.
