The Band 2 ON SALE is a pretty respectable deal on the latest trend in activity trackers. This is NOT a smartwatch, but has some pretty cool features that make you want to wear it ALL the time.
I'll cut to the parts I'd like to see improved:
Battery life when using the GPS. I'm a runner/jogger, and long, slow runs will completely drain the battery. I'm not sure if this would last for more than 3 hours using the GPS.
The band fastener is thick. Really cool sleep app, but the bulky band will take some getting used to for sleeping.
Haven't found a way to transfer my garmin connect history. Haven't looked too hard, but it'd be nice to see my run history in mapymyrun.
You need practice starting a run with the GPS. Just something to get used to. You just pressed the start/stop button on my Garmin Forerunner.
Find myself planning when I can get a full charge. Logistically, I charge my devices when I sleep, but I like using this as a sleep monitor...
It would be nice if you read a full email instead of the subject line, but again, this isn't a smartwatch. You have to use your phone for that.
All in all, I still like the device quite a bit. For a marginal price increase over a fitbit, you get a stylish enough band that has some really nice features that you will really like if you haven't had an activity tracker before. (I hadn't)
I also went with the extended warranty coverage because the Band 2 is water resistant, and not water proof.

Love this band. I had the original band and upgraded to this. much more comfortable that the first one. Main reason for this was to use for my golf tracking. Absolutely great buy. May be a little pricey, maybe by $50 or so, but still worth it. Defiantly would recommend.

This Microsoft band is great. It has GPS so you don't need to take your phone with you when you go running. It keeps track of your calories burned all day. It has a built in heart rate monitor. It also has some nice features. Price range is amazing because it's compared to the expensive Android sport smart watches and it's a lot better than the other sport ones like Fitbit that are as expensive.

I bought the Band 2 because i needed a watch, so that said i had pretty low expectations / usecases in mind.
I use the thing all the time. The health aspect of it is great, the guided work outs kick my butt, GPS track runs and bike routes, the smart alarm gets me up feeling good, the incoming call/text response integration is great, email and calendar integration is Okay (im not writting home about its active sync integration, microsoft needs to get their act together when it comes to getting microsoft products to work with microsoft services), oh and weather.. totally worth at least $175.

Like the display, heart rate, weather, notifications, GPS. Needs to improve battery life. Analog battery icon is present, but should add battery percentage.

We bought this for my dad's birthday. He loves it. Keeps going on about what it does. When we looked at buying it we were concerned about how comfortable it would be but he says he likes it. My Dad's a golfer and one of the big reason we bought this was the TaylorMade Golf GPS app. He hasn't had a chance to use it since we live in the frozen tundra of MN but he can't wait to try it.

Not the prettiest band/watch out there, but this band has all the features I wanted:
* Counts steps and stairs,
* Accurate heart rate monitor,
* Does a great job tracking my sleep.
* Integrates with MyFitnessPal,
* Alerts me of calls, texts, email and calendar events.
* It does this thing where it will show you a text message one word a time (similar to Spritzing), which is really nice if you are farsighted since the single word fills up the screen.
* Weather and news updates.
* Allows me to track exercise sessions
* Timer and alarm
I've seen others complain about the lack of apps, but I am not missing any features for now. Highly recommended.

The Microsoft Band 2 is a great device!! I use it all day and track all of my exercises, steps, and sleep with it. The only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that there are some features that are ONLY available when using a Windows phone, and are not compatible with my LG V10 running Android 5.1.1. Additionally, the battery life is not great, 2 days max, so I put it on the charger every morning when I shower (it charges fully in under a 1/2 hour)

It tracks steps, heart rate, calories, sleep, runs, biking, and exercises. I have not tracked a run or bike ride yet, but everything else is great. Use the Microsoft Health app and dashboard to track everything you do and it keeps me holding myself accountable and wanting to do better for myself

I was very excited when I put on my Band 2. I was looking for a good fitness band with smartwatch features and this packed both very nicely.
It was very well constructed and had the features I was looking for: Integration with Windows Phone, and fitness tool.
My first impression positives: Screen is awesome & great with Microsoft Health. It's packed with A LOT of features.
First impression negatives: Rear bevel (latch) is very uncomfortable and battery life is not so great.
After a week I was still not able to adapt to the uncomfortable bezel and exchanged it for a Fitbit HR.
Comfort and battery problem solved. In addition to that, Fitbit has the option to log your food intake which is something that Microsoft should add.
I don't have the notifications any more (although iPhone and Android users will). But pros vs cons, worth the switch.
I'm very satisfied with Microsoft software not the hardware part (Surface Pro being the exception), they just don't get it right.
This being said, if you're a Windows Phone user, looking for a smartwatch and don't mind the bevel, it's the product for you (not many other choices out there either).
Looking forward to Band 3... Hopefully they will get it right and come up with something more comfortable and simple.

The new shape is a great improvement on the original Band and it is very comfortable, the larger screen is better and more durable. The aluminium parts are prone to scratches and would be better if made from steel. The Band is also still not water proof. I do love all but one of its very useful functions, the on screen key board, which was good until a recent update left it unusable. The Band make monitoring you're calls, text and Emails convenient and discreet and I do believe it tracks my activity reasonably well.

The new Microsoft Band is an excellent successor to an already great product. The added features and new shape make it even more enjoyable to where and use. In addition to tracking steps and sleep times, it also records calories burned, stairs climbed, and news updates. Microsoft has done a really great job with this device.

While I found it somewhat confusing to set up online, once I got some of the features working, I find it quite interesting to find out how much I am moving, how many calories I'm using. And. laughing out loud, I stopped missing texts from my daughter since the band alerts me. Oh! I'm a writer, and the band reminds me to move during my hours of computer time. A VERY good thing!

Good:
Unique features (guided workout, golf app, VO2 Max estimate)
Attractive (much improved over original Band)
Compatibility (android, iphone, windows phone)
(Map My Run/Ride/Fitness, My Fitness Pal, Runkeeper, Strava, etc.)
Informative (band, app, web)
Sensors galore (12 total)
GPS accuracy (equivalent to TomTom GPS watch)
Customizable (rearrange controls, displays, colors)
Bad:
Step counter (not the most reliable if arms not swinging)
Awkward display (faces sideways compared to normal watch)
Can’t cancel/delete workouts on the band
(Must use phone app)
Limited statistics stored on band
(can only review last workout)
Not waterproof (it is water resistant though)

This is an excellent fitness smart device from microsoft, great upgrade from the first generation. It has excellent smart notification features, i can read email,text, incoming call noticiations, etc. The UV sensor is really good, the only thing I wish was more integration with IOS and water resistance. Now the Heart Rate monitor, I have and have used all the time the polar H7 chest strap and let me tell you, this is the most accurate HR band I have tested, the FITbit Charge HR doesn't even comes close to my H7, this one is spot on, every time I use it. it's great now I don't have to have my chest strap every time I want to do HIT or runs. Will recommend this to anyone.

Waited a long time to find a fitness band that had the features that I was looking for and this was worth the wait. It works well with my iPhone and with Cortana recently added as an iPhone app I expect it to get better over time. While I wish the battery lasted longer, I have a routine for daily charging that works out well. I even use the Starbucks tile to order without having to reach for my phone or wallet. It tracks my fitness activities accurately and offers the owner the ability to customize the tile layout and even colors to match your own needs. There are some add on apps available for the iPhone that aren't quite there yet, but are worth tracking as it seems to be growing. The screen is bright and easy to read so you can easily see a notification on your phone, or who is texting, calling or emailing at a glance so you don't always have to reach for your phone. As I said, I very happy with it and expect it to get even better (even with the battery life as it is).

I had it for 2 months, loved it, then it quit holding a charge. I sent it in for repair. It comes back and the charging side wrist band comes of as I take it out of the box. Just not even attached. So I send it back in for repair and they ship it back as is saying it was damaged to far and voided warranty. MICROSOFT REPAIR IS THE ONE WHO BROKE THE WRISTBAND!!! Apple will always win this battle with service like this. Don't buy, get an Apple watch. One it won't need to go in for repair most likely and two if it does Apple won't break it. They will just swap it out. BOOOOOO MICROSOFT!

The band is comfortable to wear and easy to adjust. It tracks the usual elements (steps, distance, flights, calories, pulse etc)
It also sends all notifications from your Bluetooth connected phone. The display is very easy to read. The battery life is ok, but not great.
