Customers are saying
Customers consistently note the Classic Intellimouse's ease of use and ergonomic design as significant advantages, citing its simple setup and comfortable feel. Many appreciate the mouse's classic shape and convenient placement of buttons. However, some customers express a preference for wireless mice, suggesting that the wired nature of this model is a drawback for them. The lack of wireless functionality is a point of contention for a segment of users.

Big, ugly, badly placed buttons
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this because I was tired of replacing dead batteries in wireless mice. PRO: It's wired. CONS: Bad design. It's big and ugly and the two left-side buttons, by default set to page back/page forward, are so badly positioned that my thumb could NOT avoid pressing them. Very annoying. I had to simply disable both buttons in the mouse software. Now it's at least usable. Not a great mouse.

Classic Design; Not for Gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the resurrection of one of the greatest gaming mice of all time, so I really wanted to like this. Unfortunately, playing CS:GO @ 800 DPI I experienced a ton of skipping when lifting the mouse off my mousepad (Zowie GS-R). I don't know much about technicalities so I won't dive into arcane charts and numerical wizardry (you can find that on forums and reddit), but I can tell you it's not a reliable performer like the old design was if you're looking at competitive gaming/FPS. It's a great, handsome wired office mouse, but it's seriously disappointing that Microsoft came short of resurrecting a classic by making an awful design decision with the inclusion of the sensor type (Pixart 3808). I'll probably be using this at the office as a daily driver, but nothing gaming-related. Here's hoping MS monitors consumer feedback and releases a proper gaming variant later.

The return of a legend
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Kids won't know what this is, but you will. It's the first mouse you remember using that wasn't a curved brick. You know what you must do.

Doesn't work on other platforms
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this from Best Buy on my way out, since it was in the mouse section, and I needed a new mouse. Took it home, plugged it in, but nope doesn't work - it works on Windows only. It's a proprietary USB device that looks like a mouse but is not a mouse that adheres to USB standards; it shouldn't have been in the mouse section in the first place. It's deceptive. Now I have to waste my time to return it. But you know what, if Best Buy and Microsoft want to be deceptive and waste my time, I'm fine wasting their time.
