    Good Keyboard, Not Durable

I really like the layout and feel of this keyboard when fresh out of the box. Unfortunately, it’s not durable. For the price, it’s a good deal for people who aren’t heavy users. I’ve had this keyboard just over 1 year and the key labels are worn off of many keys. ASDW (keys used for many games) are noticeably spongier due to their usage. The keyboard is ready for replacement. This is my second (thought maybe my first was a dud). Its labeled a mechanical keyboard, but it feels like a membrane keyboard. Microsoft could make my dream keyboard by taking this layout, making the key caps in such a way that the letters are molded into the cap, adding plain white lighting so the keys can be seen in dim light, and making the switches a more durable. In the meantime, I’ll resume looking for a new keyboard.

The ergonomic design is outstanding. It fits perfectly with the natural curvature of my hands, reducing strain during long typing sessions. My wrists and fingers feel much more relaxed compared to my old keyboard. The keys are well-spaced and have a satisfying tactile feedback. Typing feels smooth and effortless, making my work more efficient and enjoyable. The build quality is solid and durable. It feels sturdy and well-constructed, promising a long lifespan. It comes with several useful function keys and shortcuts that enhance productivity. The integration with Windows is seamless, making it a great companion for my PC. The sleek, modern design looks great on my desk. It’s both functional and stylish. However, it’s a bit on the pricier side, but the quality and comfort justify the investment.

Great, comfortable keyboard. Some minor annoyances

This would be a 5 star review if not for a few nitpicks. I'll get to those in a minute. The good stuff first: - Nice travel for the keys. Doesn't require a lot of pressure to depress a key. Feels light and snappy without being overly loud. - The wavy, curvy feel of the keyboard feels wonderful for me. I'm a software engineer so I have long stretches where I'm doing nothing but typing, and the ergonomic shape of this keyboard helps reduce pain in my hands by allowing me to keep my wrists straight while typing. The wrist pad also helps to keep my wrists from pressing too hard against my desk, which helps to reduce carpal tunnel issues. - Application specific buttons (pause, play, rewind, fast forward, volume up, volume down, etc.) are not assigned to the function keys, so no need for function lock key. Those buttons are assigned to their own keys above the function row. - Dedicated emoji key - calls up Windows 10's emoji window quickly Now here are the not so good things: - Scroll Lock, Pause, and Num Lock keys directly above Insert, Home, and PgUp keys - if you're used to the various versions of the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard (a spiritual ancestor of this keyboard), these keys have a nice big separator between them that makes it much easier to hit Insert, Home, and PgUp reliably. This keyboard takes away that space, and now it's so much harder to accurately press those buttons. Mildly annoying. - The function row butts up against the number row, making it much harder to accurately press any of the keys on the number row. This is especially a problem for -, = and Backspace. Mildly annoying. - The left shift key is significantly smaller, which means you have to stretch your pinky much farther to hit it. I'm constantly pressing z instead of the shift button because of this. Mildly annoying. Over time these issues have gotten less significant. They're still annoying though. The 4 stars I gave above are more like 4.5. This is a great keyboard overall, save for the minor annoyances described above.

    Title: "Comfortable, Precise, and Durable"

I am absolutely thrilled with the Microsoft Ergonomic Full-size Wired Mechanical Keyboard in Black! This keyboard has completely transformed my typing experience, and I couldn't be happier with its comfort, precision, and durability. First and foremost, the three words that best describe this keyboard are comfortable, precise, and durable. The ergonomic design is a game-changer for my wrists and hands. It allows for a more natural and relaxed typing position, reducing strain and discomfort during long typing sessions. The full-size layout provides ample space for my fingers to move freely, resulting in improved typing speed and accuracy. The mechanical key switches are a joy to type on. The tactile feedback and audible click with each keystroke provide a satisfying typing experience that I can't get enough of. The keys are responsive and require just the right amount of actuation force, making it easy to type for extended periods without feeling fatigued. The build quality of this keyboard is outstanding. The sturdy construction ensures that it can handle daily use and last for a long time. The keys feel robust and durable, and I have confidence that this keyboard will stand the test of time. Setting up the keyboard was a breeze - just plug it in, and it's ready to use. The wired connection provides a stable and reliable connection, eliminating any input lag or connectivity issues that I've encountered with wireless keyboards. Additionally, the keyboard includes convenient hotkeys that allow me to quickly access common functions like volume control, media playback, and launching applications. This has streamlined my workflow and made multitasking a breeze. I also appreciate the subtle black color and sleek design, which complements my workspace perfectly. It's a professional-looking keyboard that adds a touch of sophistication to my setup. In conclusion, the Microsoft Ergonomic Full-size Wired Mechanical Keyboard in Black has exceeded my expectations in every way. Its comfort, precision, and durability have significantly improved my typing experience, and I can't imagine going back to a standard keyboard. If you're in need of a reliable and ergonomic keyboard for work or gaming, I highly recommend this product. It's a 5-star keyboard that delivers on its promises!

Not as good as the Natural 4000, but close

It's not as good as the Natural Ergonomic 4000 was, which is my favorite keyboard of all time, but it's still pretty good. I use it every day for personal and work and it's held up really well over the past two years. My only complaint really is that there's no space between the number keys and the function keys so sometimes you end up hitting a function key when you really meant to hit a number. But that's a minor annoyance and I'd buy this keyboard again when this one wears out.

My Ergonomic Keyboard is excellent. This is the third of these keyboards I've ober the past fifteen years, each a newer model with improvements. I am a writer, and using these keyboards makes typing comfortable and avoids stress on my wrists, arms. I recommend this keyboard for those who spend long hours typing.

This keyboard is amazing. No more worries about RSI and carpel tunnel. It's easy to type on and no key wear after a month of use. I really wish ergonomic keyboards were more popular. This this is perfect for me as a computer user that writes a lot, both for college and personal use.

I'd had a wireless version of this but it stopped working; I bought the wired version a year ago and it's been great. It takes a little bit to get used to the split keyboard but it definitely has gotten rid of my wrist pain and I can type more quickly now.

Good: ergonomic design is very comfortable. Good price point. Keys have satisfying feel and sound. Travel is good. Wired connection means no issues with batteries or connectivity- I actually bought this as the Microsoft Sculpt keyboard with the dongle has interference issues with my MacBook and would frequently lag while typing. Meh: keys have heaver press than I’d like. Would be bad for competitive games as the key pop up is somewhat slow, especially on the heavier keys like space. Annoying additional keys added between ctrl/start/alt on both sides, need to relearn shortcut positioning Bad: It’s massive. If you are right handed and want the alpha keys directly in front of you, your mouse ends up really far away- my elbow was nearly at a 180 degree angle to reach the mouse. A wired 10 keyless version of this (like the sculpt) would be amazing. Works great for left handed mouse use provided you have the desk space

Not as Nice as MS 4000 Keyboard It Replaced

This is a perfectly acceptable ergonomic keyboard. I bought it to replace a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 keyboard that had unfortunately started to have issues (some of the keys would only work intermittently). I really don't like it as much as the 4000; but it is okay. I thought the 4000 provided much greater utility with more clearly labelled special purpose buttons (like calculator for example) and I thought the 4000 looked nicer. The 4000 als oha d several special purpose buttons that this model lacks. As other reviewers have noted, this keyboard has a somewhat unique design with an add on stand to raise the front of the keyboard (rather than the back) which is allegedly more ergonomically correct. There are no legs on the rear of the keyboard to allow you to tilt it up as with traditional keyboards. I understand why Microsaoft selected this path. However, I prefer to have the traditional back tilt when typing. The really sad part is that Microsoft could have probably designed the stand to be used to raise either the back or front of the keyboard depending on user preferences. The stand mounts to the keyboard via two small round holes in the bottom front of the keyboard that you fit two small knobs on the top of the stand into. If Microsoft had put two identical holes on the bottom rear of the keyboard, you could have given it a traditional tilt by simply inserting the knobs on the stand into the rear of the keyboard. I currently resting the rear of the keyboard on the stand to tilt the keyboard which is okay. It amkes the keyboard slightly unstable; but, I can live with that. It still would have been nice if Microsoft had designeds the keyboard so the user could choose which tilt they preferred rather than forcing the user to go with a flat or front raised keyboard configuration. I still like this keyboard more than a traditional keyboard. It is just not a nice as the MS 4000 it apparently replaced.

I work for Red Hat, so all of my computers run LINUX. This keyboard works great with LINUX. I use both Gnome and KDE and they both can utilize the macro keys. I love the ergonomics of this keyboard. I have 2 that I use daily and even bought a spare to have if one of them eventually dies.

I LIVE by this keyboard. No, seriously! I make a living doing audio transcriptions and this is the keyboard I come to again and again. I wear them out so I replace it every two years or so--not because it's weak but because I beat the heck out of them. It's very comfortable and the break in the keys is absolutely amazing. I have had ZERO carpal tunnel issues and that's after typing eight hours a day five days a week! Keep making this one, Microsoft, because I'm a user for life!
