If you write a lot you need this keyboard

An ergonomic keyboard is not for everyone. There is a learning curve that spans several days until your fingers and wrists learn the new keying position. Once you you are comfortable with it typing becomes more like playing the piano. It is fast. The raised padded wrist rest gives you a completely natural hand position. Your hands are aligned with your forearms. I pair my 4000 with a Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball. The Keyboard takes up more real estate on the desktop. The Trackball takes less. It evens out. And the additional buttons on the M570 move almost all cursor movement to the trackball. You wind up with less hand motion than you would between the KB and a mouse. If you keyboard a lot, take a serious look at a 4000. If you are using Widows 7 and above take a look at the Microsoft Sculpt. The ergonomic features are the same, but it takes up less real estate. And it is beautiful.

Much better than standard keyboards, if you use your computer for work. We're academics so we are on the keyboard writing, ergonomic design is very important. We have two home offices, mine is a Perixx ergnomic keyboard, I bought my wife this Microsoft keyboard, they are comparable. I've had driver problems in the past with the Perixx, the Microsoft product is better supported (which is a bit surprising to me, I'm not generally a big fan of Microsoft tech and customer support). The ergonomic aspect of the Microsoft keyboard is a little superior in that it is elevated and angled in pitch, not just spread and angled for proper horizontal hand position. In other words, the Perixx is ergonomic in two dimensions, but this Microsoft keyboard is ergonomic in three dimensions. The Perixx is heavier and thus more stable on a clean smooth work desk, the Microsoft keyboard is very light which is not much of an issue unless you have cats. We have cats, and one of them likes to mess with the keyboard. Since the Perixx is heavier and flatter, the cats are limited to walking across or laying on that keyboard, but there's added mischief possible with the Microsoft keyboard as it is light enough to push around, and apparently from a feline perspective it is amusing to see the keyboard dangling off of the desk hanging and swinging by the cord.

This keyboard was recommended to my by my OHSA representative as the best tool to prevent re-injuring my hands (I have carpal tunnel syndrome and ulnar nerve neuropathy in both hands) Despite the fact that I work 8 hours a day on a computer, I have found that using the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 keyboard has allowed me to be productive and pain-free. I like the controls at the top and in the split between the letter sections too. I can launch the calculator app, zoom, change the speaker volume, and access favorites with a simple click on the keyboard.

I have wide shoulders and carpal tunnel issue in my wrists from years of hard physical work. I have used this model of keyboard for almost 20 years for ergonomic relief. This is my 3rd one at home. The previous one lasted over 10 years and was used with Mac and PC. I have this same keyboard at work. This keyboard is wired (no exact wireless version available). The wireless version currently available is flatter and is not compatible with Apple IOS. Logitech has a similar wireless model but there is no split in the middle and the arch/curve is much flatter. The cost of this keyboard is a fraction of other ergo keyboards and on sale is a ridiculous bargain. This is a sturdy, dependable and long lasting ergonomic keyboard which I continue to use & recommend.

I purchased this keyboard simply because I needed one. I was not aware that it would help me not only type faster but it took the stress off of my wrists as I have arthritis. It also has a keyboard which the keys are separated. The price was also great. I would reccomend this keyboard to ANYONE who has to type and is looking for comfort. Thank You.

My previous keyboard was the original MS natural keyboard. This new keyboard is more comfortable, with a soft wrist wrest and more adjustable angle. It also has more buttons for speeding up tasks, as well as a nice slider for zooming in and out. The keys are a bit crisper and require a bit more pressure. I find that once you get used to a natural keyboard, a flat keyboard is difficult to type on.

This keyboard is great for using when you have to be on it for more than just a couple of hours. Your wrists and fingers move around the keyboard very smoothly and don't cramp up. I especially like the special buttons for instant access to your e-mail and the calculator and speakers. There are 5 more buttons that you can customize too. This is the only keyboard that I buy for my office and our 27 employees.

As with any ergonomic keyboard there is a bit of a learning curve associated with typing on the Microsoft Natural, once that curve is mastered, it's a great keyboard. I'm able to type noticeably faster with this keyboard than with a traditional keyboard or with a number of other ergonomic keyboards I've tried due to its one-piece design and not too radical key arrangement. The only real drawback to the keyboard is its size, which is somewhat larger than a traditional keyboard.

I bought this keyboard in a hope to alleviate some of the writs, elbow and neck strain I had after long days at the keyboard. This keyboard is a well known legend in the computing world as the most comfortable affordable keyboard on the market for hours of everyday use and I agree! One thing to consider however is that you may need a while to get used to it as I did. Perhaps use it for a weekend or two at home before attempting to use it professionally during the week. To me and many others it feels strange at first and in the past I hard returned one once I hated it so much as the position you're hands are in will feel a bit alien if you have never used a keyboard like this. After many years I could not take it anymore and the pain forced me to change I have been a touch typist for almost 20 years and as I said I tried this keyboard before yet this time I was going to make it work and I found myself looking down occasionaly in the first couple of days but in a matter of weeks the new slightly altered keystrokes became second nature. If you are someone who suffers from pains due to typing I highly recommend this keyboard! If you are someone who does not have this problem presently but work behind a keyboard most of the time I would also recommend you take the plunge now and get used to using a ergonomic keyboard like this it will pay off in the long run and might prevent future health issues or RSI from typing.

My boyfriend bought this for me. I was skeptical at first, but this keyboard has reply made a difference with my carpet tunnel. I thought I would have trouble adjusting to typing on this, but it was smooth sailing after about a week. The eonly criticism I have is the space bar is a little stiff while the keys are nice and smooth.

Not everyone is comfortable with the ergonomic keyboards but for those that prefer them, this is the one to get. It's affordable and highly functional. For those that haven't tried one, this is the one to start with and once you're comfortable with it, standard keyboards will feel awkward.

I like this keyboard, and I was surprised at the difference an ergonomic keyboard makes when typing for long periods. The ergonomic style makes typing much more comfortable, but did take me a little time to adjust to. This keyboard has the flip up legs and a snap on underside stand that provides a couple different tilt configurations. Almost all of the keys feel good to press and are fairly quiet. The wrist rest is great and the customizable key options are great. As mentioned in many reviews the spacebar is the oddball. I am not sure what happened with the spacebar but it is loud, is inconsistent in feel when being depressed, and does move against the C and V keys very slightly; it does not depress the keys but it’s still strange.

This is my favorite keyboard - and I have made converts to it, also. My husband had one on his computer and when it got damaged I had a spare straight keyboard, so threw that on his computer. Boy, did he complain! So off I went to Best Buy to purchase him another of these and he is once again a happy camper. He is NOT technologically advanced, and even he knows the delight of the easy touch ergo that this Microsoft Ergo brings to his computer skills. I love the touch and feel of this keyboard and the capability that it adds. But even better is the PRICE. These are the best keyboards that I have ever used - and even have one at my desk at work. Work and home, I cannot imagine a computer life without the Microsoft Ergo Keyboard!

Have used this style and brand before through work applications. Easy decision to purchase for personal use. Best reasonably priced ergo keyboard on market as far as I'm concerned. Limits hand and wrist fatigue by 80% plus.. Feel naked without it when I have extended typing projects and I'm stuck using a different keyboard.. If new to this style, will take a second to get use to it, but your brain will pick up the new hand position quickly and everything else (hand, wrists) will fall in love with it... Not best system if you type by "Hunting and Pecking" on keyboard, but if you log some time fairly frequently typing away, then best decision u will make.. Only down side is keys feel a little plastic-y.. (If that's a word:-). ). Don't have a solid heavy drop when typing..Its Only thing I would change.. And why it has a 4 rating not a 5

The keyboards ergonomic design fits my hands very well making it easy to type on. After using this keyboard it's hard to go back and use a flat keyboard it just fits your natural hand placement. I've used for 10 months so far and do not have a complaint, even my boss got one like it because he liked it so much.

There are very few ergonomic keyboards on the market anymore (raised in the middle, keys at a slant). It works very well. No problem with the touch, which some people complained was too hard or stiff. Only wish it also was wireless like the last ergonomic keyboard we had, but we have an extra port to plug it into, so that is ok.

This is my second Microsoft 4000 keyboard. I had to replace my first as I spilled water over it. This keyboard is well set-up and is easy to use and responsive to use. It's has more functions than I know how to use. Well made and a much better keyboard than the one that came with my computer.

I don't know why for all these years I should of bought a Microsoft ergo keyboard. I used lots keyboards before and use them for hours and lets just say my wrists gets uncomfortable. I finally made up my mind and bought this keyboard. My wrists are no longer strained from hours of keyboard use and I like the layout of the extra function key (i.e. volume, pause, play, ect). I like the fact that you can program the extra function keys for whatever purposes you need with the Microsoft mouse and keyboard software. Even though this keyboard was a bit pricey, it well worth the purchase. Don't let your arms and wrists get strained ever again by buying one of these keyboards.
