Excellence in compact and stylish machine

When I opened the screen for the very first time, the hinge really amazed me. Screen is extremely bright and sharp. Compute power is great. Something that I really like is facial detection camera, I don't need to type the password ever and it works in low light as well. Quicker than what I tried in iPhone X.
To name a few qualities - Screen, Battery (of course), touch response, best machine for programmers like me and even for designers.
Cons: everyone says it's expensive (but the performance really satisfies.. so you get what you paid for).

I did not see that this open box did not include NO power cord. I bumped it to 16 GB have not been able to turn it on to verify if the memory upgrade is there or even works. Ordered a cord on Amazon. I drove 2 hours to another city for this open box option. Finding these may NOT be the best option.
I do however want to thank Caroline who went to make sure the item by sku was there before I drove. Tip ask if they can verify what is included in the box.

One of The Top Laptops I Have Ever Owned

I have owned over 30 laptops in the past 10 years and I will have to say this is the first Microsoft laptop I have ever purchased due to the cost of them but this is the best laptop I have ever owned. I have had HP Spectre, Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga, Apple Macbook Air in the past year just name a few and the Book 2 is by far the superior machine. Yes it is probably $600 more thank the comparable Lenovo and HP Spectre but it is well worth it. The design is amazing how the screen detaches from the keyboard. The build is solid and versatile. The machine is fast and the graphics are amazing and up to par to any gaming laptop on the market. I will update my review as I get more time using this beautiful machine.

Great item. It's capabilities work great for personal use and my at home business. It's size, ways of use options (open laptop, flipped back laptop, tablet without keyboard) contribute to its ease of use, functionality and versatility to work for any situation (working on a budget, working with a client, sitting in the airport, etc). It boots up quickly, and is fast when opening programs and working on designs. The screen detaches and attaches quickly. Very responsive touch screen. So far, the battery has held a charge great, not dying too quickly.
I definitely recommend getting a keyboard and screen protector and a fitted case/cover to provide protection.

After using a wonderful Surface Pro 4 for almost three years for my one and only computer, it was starting to show signs of wear. I travel extensively, with 4-6 trips to Asia per year, along with dozens of other domestic destinations. I couldn't imagine lugging around a traditional laptop or notebook computer. This Surface Book simply rocks. It is ffffffast, lightweight, reliable and the battery lasts forever. Mine is loaded up with the fastest processor and gobs of memory, as I typically use it for multitasking and 3D CAD modeling. Wen I'm at my home office, I use the dock power supply (which gives me 5 more USB ports) and a second monitor. I simply could not be happier.

This latest generation Surface Book is a very powerful laptop that can be used as a tablet. Long battery life and very fast. The unit itself is on the heavier side, but it is well built. Only reason why it is 4-star is because it is significantly more expensive than others with similar hardware specs.

What makes this computer so good in my opinion is the multi use feature. Upgraded from a older Surface Pro because of the ease of use as a laptop sitting on my lap but still get the function of a tablet when I want. Works great as a desktop when docked with two monitors, keyboard and mouse.
Graphics are great with all the games I play. Love the size for portability and it feels solid yet fairly light for all that is packed into this computer.
Only wish the SD card slot was in the tablet side and not the keyboard or if it had one it both.

I was looking for something that was fast, small, and could convert to a tablet. This is it. Pricey but if you want the best you gotta spend the money. I upgraded from a Toshiba laptop. I waited 6 plus years to upgrade. I did my homework. I saw what I needed from my new laptop. Read the reviews, talked the geek squad. Let’s say this is what I needed. I added the office suite. Needed the excel spreadsheets. Now I can multi task and have a computer that can stay up with me. Only if my job would invest. Then I could be very productive.

If you're looking for at hardware that runs Windows, buy a Surface product. Windows runs the way it was meant to on Microsoft's hardware. The one missing star is for the price. I don't think Microsoft should make it that difficult to buy their hardware - competitor's products aren't too far off the mark, but are significantly cheaper. I think that a more fair price for each of the Surface Book models would be about $500 less.

Surface Book 2 " A Real Winner!"

After long deliberation, the reading of many reviews and the consideration of other products, I can happily say that the Surface Book 2 has been outstanding to date. The purchase of the Surface Book 2 was primarily to replace an outdated Samsung tablet and goes far beyond that product's capabilities, which was one of the primary objectives for the purchase. The battery life is amazing and from the initial use lasts 12 to 13 hours a day before requiring a recharge. The display is brilliant and crisp and the new I7 8th Gen processor certainly handles all the typical applications with ease and allows mutli-tasking with different applications. The table mode works well and occurs with a touch of a button. Along with the Surface Book 2, I purchased the Microsoft Pen and Arc Mouse and both work extremely well. The pen is truly useful and is exactly the experience expected with any Surface product.
The one negative is that you don't typically find any deals on this product but if you can find a little break, it is certainly helpful. Bottom line is that this product is certainly worth the spend if you want a premium experience and Microsoft's flagship. There was a brief consideration of the Surface Laptop and the Surface Pro but the pros for the Surface Book 2 outweighed the other two in the end.

I bought two of these to upgrade some old laptops, and the change was great the performance is good the battery life it's great as well and they are very useful when you convert to tablet mode. overall I think that this was a really good purchase, the only reason I do not give the 5 stars it's because if you are connect this device to a big screen to do a presentation, you will have a hard time on doing so.
But if that is not an issue then you're good to go.

Ok, I do love this laptop. I purchased the 16GB 512GB. Best laptop I've gotten to put my hands on and I've used Dell, Apple and Toshiba brands before. It's been almost two months of use and I have only a few complaints. Let me tell you what I love about it first.
Pros: Touchscreen is very useful, practical and pretty accurate. I did buy the pen but I say I only use it 30% of the time at this moment. I am very early on in my engineering education so I haven't gotten to use any engineering programs on here yet. But it has worked really well for my macroeconomics class where I needed to print out worksheets and upload them. So instead of doing that I can do it right on the screen, save as pdf and upload. Savin them trees!
Speakers are nice and loud for a laptop. They're positioned in a smart place so if you've switched to the tablet mode your hands won't be placed over the speakers.
The webcam is good.
Typing is nice just don't put your palms over the touchpad.
Battery life is amazing. Beats most laptop battery life.
The speed of the computer is phenomenal. Rarely slows down even when I have multiple tabs , mail app, Spotify and homework programs open. Microsoft really did well with this processor.
If you can afford this machine, I recommend that you buy. You will fall in love with its design and practicality.
Windows Hello sign in is a pretty good security feature. It only signs in for me :)
Cons: The only con I have about this computer is the touchpad. It is extremely sensitive even at low sensitivity setting. I have changed the settings a bit and it has gotten a little less annoying but clicking on it is rather frustrating. A lot of the times it will right click instead of regular click. When I click and scroll it right clicks instead. Maybe it's me?

Super happy with my purchase almost 2 months in. For a convertible- this machine has power to spare. The ability to switch between discrete and on-chip graphics cards depending on the software I'm using is amazing. Also blown away by the battery life when in laptop mode- it far exceeds my expectations.

This is our second one and continue to love it. Great for travel, at home, or in the office. It makes a great laptop or tablet for personal and/or professional use. Only complaint is having to buy the docking station separately to maximize it's use. It's very much like buying an Apple product if you're a Microsoft person.

I was thinking about an iPad Pro or a different brand. I am so glad I spent the extra money for the surface. It is everything I expected and more. Great graphics, impressive speed and responsiveness. I really like this notebook, sturdy, incredibly fast, great display and the key board is way better than surface models since it is almost like a laptop.
two batteries, two video cards. The setup is that the keyboard is used to hold the high end graphics card and the larger battery so when you disconnect the keyboard you have a smaller battery and onboard video to keep the tablet cool. It's amazing it doesn't overheat, especially since there are no fans blowing out of the machine. I haven't played any video games on it but have ripped some video (HD video) from my camera on it and it is really fast with the I7, 16 GB ram and the solid state drive. This book contains everything to replace what made computers slow in the past. I'm very happy with it.
I would recommend this for anyone needing that extra power or even just likes to game when on the road.
