I use it primarily as a laptop. It's fast and convenient. It's a great size; big enough to work comfortably at and light enough to easily carry in an oversized pocketbook. The pen is a nice feature although I haven't had much need for it. I am really happy with this purchase that I made over a year ago. The only improvement I would suggest is that the numbers are somewhat difficult to see during the normal daylight. They light up in the dark which is nice. But for me, they seem to blend in with the gray/silver color of the keyboard. It's not too bad, just something I have noticed could be improved upon.

This laptop works great! I needed a computer that would be easy to use out in the field and this is definitely it. I love the touch screen! It pops apart so easily that if I just need a tablet I push a button, pull it apart, and go!

I love everything about my Surface Book! This 2-in-1 offers everything that one could need, including the ability to double the memory instantly using a custom SD adapter for micro sd cards. I wanted the 256GB model, but BestBuy only the 128GB in stock. After realizing that I could purchase the ad adapter on Amazon, and use my 256GB micro sd as standard memory for the laptop, I decided to save a couple hundred and go with the model in stock. This laptop is FAST and the battery life is phenomenal, and we aren't even talking about the Suface Book w/Performance Base that offers an even longer battery life span. The Surface Pen is a joy to work and play with, no other stylus has achieved this level of precision for a laptop. Even Samsung, the master of smartphone styluses couldn't one up Microsoft with their ProPen for the Galaxy TabS Pro. Best of all of the stylus and laptop were built to compliment each other without adding any extra work for the user to access its greatness. I have a MacBook 12" which I love due to it stunning, minimalist desgin, and I've grown use to using the range of USB C adapters to use the Mac as a standard laptop. However, with my second laptop I wanted a larger screen, and processing powerhouse which housed the essential ports with minimal need for extra adapter to carry out daily functions. I couldn't be more pleased with the Surface Book. I do a lot of layout and editing of documents before converting the final versions to PDF files on my Mac, and lately the amount of graphics, applications and files I had to have open began to cause small system freezes on the Mac. That problem was wiped away with my Surface Book, and the Surface Pen enabled me to make my layouts even more pristine prior to publication. With extra 256GB of memory on tow, this will be a laptop I can use for years to come, or until something greater (under $2000) emerges on the market. When comparing the Surface to almost every other Windows PC, including Lenovo's 910 with the 4K display, all had cons that would cause headaches during day to day operation. From misplaced keys, wobbly trackpads, and loud fans the Surface Book underscores the amount of expert engineering Microsoft put into making a near perfect laptop, that is also one awesome tablet when needed.

In the new age of laptops, this is a game changer. So light weight, very much like a tablet. You can detach the keyboard easily, quick start up, and very easy to use. The pen is awesome and lot's of features. Great experience.

I have fallen in love with my laptop. I love the 2-in-1, windows hello, onedrive, stylus/pen, keyboard, auto adjust screen brightness and backlight, etc! I am a student and it is perfect for portability to and from campus, lightweight and quick pull up/take down. I cannot say enough good things about it! This is an INCREDIBLE laptop and worth the investment. I'm a penny pincher so if I spent it you should too! I want some snap on cases (like macs) for protection. It's a brand new product so maybe they will come out soon!

This laptop is great. The battery lasts a long time. It's perfect for college or for home use. There are other accessories you can get for this laptop. A carrying case and mouse if you want. This laptop has a nice pen with many features.

This laptop is more than just a laptop. It is the best of both worlds. The portability of a tablet and the robustness of a laptop. I love being able to make notes on a photo or web page and send them. OneNote is great for note-taking in class. I like being able to detach the screen and use as a tablet or flip it and fold over to keep attached to the keyboard section. Both parts (keyboard and screen) have batteries. The battery on the screen section does not last as long as the other battery but this has not been a problem for me so far since I keep the two sections together. The only issue I have had with it is that on 3 or 4 occasions, it has not wanted to "wake up". I followed the directions on the Surface website and got it to "wake up." I am hoping this is fixed with a software patch in the near future.

I originally bought the HP Spectre but ended up returning it due to an issue with the touch pad. Luckily the Surface Book had just come out and I'm so glad that it did! It's fast, lightweight, and almost feels like a Mac. I love it!

I bought the Surface Book to replace a laptop I have had, and liked, for years. The expectations were high, and I have been happier than I expected to be. It's fast. It's crystal clear. The Windows 10 is easier to work with than I could have hoped for. The detachable notebook feature is really useful and the interface functions are still the same as the full machine.

Excellent laptop. Lightweight, but feels sturdy. Performs well, running multiple tabs and programs with no slowdown. Battery life is excellent. There are actually two batteries: one in the tablet, one in the keyboard. Overall very pleased. I have to note that functions are limited on tablet mode: I have not figured out how to open Windows explorer or print files while in tablet mode. But that's ok, since this is a laptop that could be a tablet, not a 2 in 1 or an overpowered tablet.

This laptop has been fantastic. The screen(tablet) portion of this laptop is extremely light, lighter than the regular surface. I use this daily for work to take notes with the pen. It works flawlessly. I have owned for 6 weeks and haven't had a single issue. It runs circles around my wife's Mac. It is versatile and allows me to use a full blown laptop when needed, but also allows me to use it as a tablet when appropriate as well. Highly recommended.

This is a great option for college students. Its powerful enough to handle all day to day tasks and do some light gaming. And the pen is amazing to take notes with especially with onenote and drawboard.

This is a must have product, if you are looking for a new laptop. Fast, smooth, and easy to use, go and get it.

This laptop is simply perfect! I love it! I used to own a netbook, laptop and a tablet so I had options for my various needs. Now this one device is all that I need. I was going to originally purchase the Surface 4 then I realized that I would need to buy the pen and keyboard separately. Plus, the keyboard for the Surface 4 needs a table (b/c it is soft) and with the Surface Book I can type in my lap. Since the Surface Book does not have a DVD/CD drive I do not how I am going to install my printer. This is only thing which I need to figure out. Everything else was an easy transition. Overall, I am so happy I purchased this for myself as a birthday gift.

so far so good with my surface, very smooth no freezing up or slow downloads. Very fast, i cant complain other then not enough sleeves or carrying cases to choose from

Excellent since the monitor can be removed to function like an I-pad. It is compact, lightweight and can be used with finger, mouse or stylus pen. Also pre-loaded with Windows 10.

There was a gentlemen at the Best Buy in Pensacola who was extremely kind and helpful in recommending this computer that is great for easy note taking and creating designs! This computer is everything that I have dreamed about with its lightweight portability, touch screen, and fast processor. It's like an electronic clipboard! I would highly recommend it for artists and students! Great purchase for productivity!

I like this for my travels but wish I would've upgraded the processor and HD. I travel a lot and Dropbox uses a lot of space. The new processor is worth it in the new book 2 .

Hands down the BEST laptop i ever had. Definitely took the place of my desktop. There is nothing I can't do with this Surface Book. This product is a major win!
