Customers are saying

Customers recognize the Surface Pro 6's portability, lightweight design, and responsive touchscreen as significant advantages. Positive feedback also highlights its generally good performance and practical size, although some find the battery life could be better. However, a common concern is the product's cost, with some users also mentioning limitations in RAM and USB ports. The finish is another area where opinions are divided.

This is a MUST HAVE for students. Taking note with surface pen feels like using 0.5 mm pen. However, the matte black finish is really fingerprint magnet and I have to clean it every 3 days (together with the screen since I take notes a lot). Also, it doesnt come with office 365 so I have to use my school office education package for that (if you're not student, you have to pay for using word, excel, PowerPoint...). Otherwise it's perfect

    Best Surface Pro Yet

I've owned two prior Surface Pro versions: An SP 3 and an SP 4. The SP 6 is far and away the most refined and best value of them all. Performance is better, unit is lighter, price is cheaper... so, what's not to like? I have the i5 unit with 8GB of Ram and 256GB of storage. Since I use primarily for travel, I don't need a more highly configured tablet. The SP 4 I own is an i7. Good performance, but battery life is much shorter, runs hotter, and fan noise is very annoying. The SP 6 solves all those issues. Speed is comparable, but battery life is significantly longer and the unit is absolutely silent. I use primarily for email communications and Office apps. Occasionally I'll install a game, which runs acceptably well, but the SP 6 i5 is not the unit I would recommend for that purpose. On balance it's the best value tablet / notebook replacement I've used. Highly recommended.

Good Performance but Could Use More RAM

I recently purchased the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 and have been generally satisfied with its performance. The 12.3" touch screen is responsive and the Intel Core i5 processor handles multitasking well. However, I do feel that the 8GB of RAM is a bit on the lower side and could use an upgrade to better handle more demanding tasks. The 256GB solid state drive provides ample storage and quick access to my files. The black finish is sleek and professional looking. Overall, while the Surface Pro 6 performs well, I do feel that the RAM could be improved upon.

I already had a Pro 4 which I had no problem with but my spouse needed a "new" computer so I thought I'd upgrade and pass my 4 to him. The pro6 has better battery life and seems more responsive in tablet mode than the 4. Otherwise it doesn't seem to be that different. The Surface Pro series is so versatile and so easy to take with you, or surf on the couch, but works perfectly as a desktop (with large monitor, keyboard, mouse, and USB hub) when you're tied to the desk! Not sure I'd be very happy to return to a mere laptop again. I also demand a "pen" to take notes or scribble or whatever. The Surface pen does best; I think the handwriting recognition is better than my Samsung pen is on my Note 8 and S3 tablet. The main complaint is the price.

I have always liked Microsoft's Surface Pro lineup. The style is appealing to me, as I prefer sharp corners to rounded ones. It is light, yet sturdy. And of course there is the OS optimization (always helpful to have device engineers and software engineers working on the same product). This tablet/turn-into-laptop is powerful enough to handle your day-to-day tasks or even some light gaming. It is the most comfortable when used on the go or in bed (not that I promote a use of electronic devices in bed) Even though I mentioned liking the squared design of the Surface Pro, it is (design I mean) a little bit outdated. After all, Microsoft has not changed it since the 4th generation. Slimmer bezels and larger screen in the same form factor would be a huge welcome come 2020 (Pro 8 is rumored to have a complete re-design). In addition, the plastic case does not leave a premium feel when using this device. Although, I must add, with an aluminium design, there is always a trade-off: the tablet would not be as light and would be more slippery in hands of a user Overall, I do recommend this product. The customer service is on par with Apple's. If you have a Microsoft Store in your town, you can get a replacement on the spot if anything goes wrong with your device.

Excellent laptop, light, slim and does the job. Good for most tasks even some light work on video editing depending which software. At a certain point too much is too much. Great for light duty tasks and most important is it is easy to throw in a pack and transport.

This a great laptop for school. It has not let me down for the past year. Speed is nice and fluid; screen is great quality, bright, with great resolution; It's super light weight; my battery last pretty long with moderate use; and it has PC and tablet modes. My complaints are the price was a little high considering the screen is 12"; keyboard was sold separately; an there's only 1 USB port. For $899 those items could've been included.

This is my first time buying the surface pro. I was a windows computer user for a while until I had to replace it and buy my old Mac Air. But as an IT professional, I can only use that for limited work, and as a student, it was alright. I used to own an iPad as well. It was great, but I couldn't use it effectively for my profession. I've been looking forward to buying a surface pro, but it was too pricey. Someone finally convinced me it was time to upgrade and try the device. It did not disappoint me. I can bring it practically anywhere. I even brought it during work interviews. There was no need for me to carry around my notebook (or textbooks since I rented the digital versions) in class since I've been using this as an alternative. It took me a while to get used to having a windows computer again, and I was not used to Windows 10 yet. The battery life is average as I expected from a tablet. I use mine in a maximum of 5-6 hours. Holding it on your lap will be difficult and it's understandable since it's a tablet and you would have to balance it using the kickstand. I'm not sure why some people expected it to be sturdy when put on your lap or any uneven surface. It's basic physics. The software and touch feature needs a bit more work. Sometimes the on screen keyboard doesn't appear automatically when the keyboard isn't attached. I have Office 365 installed on mine. I'm not sure why but PowerPoint and other office applications doesn't open unless I restart the tablet. Despite these issues, I give this a 5 star due to the portability, convenience, and overall performance.

As a college student going int o businesses, this has been perfect for my needs. Fast, portable, I love the tablet option, and I love using the big screen to watch movies. The OS is fully functional and you shouldn't have any problems between using it as a tablet and as a laptop. Sometimes, it's not as intuitive, but that's a software thing and can be updated.

The product itself is super fast and smooth. Using as a tablet with your finger or using the pen to navigate just isn't that great overall for the windows platform, even in tablet mode. I am somewhat disappointed in this but should have already known this and I guess I kind of did. Just had hopeful or higher expectations. I do really love using the pen to write or draw though and especially for signing documents as my signature is my actual signature. The graphics and sound are both very impressive and I love this about it also. Lack of ports is annoying but love magnetic charger. For the price, it should come with a pen and keyboard included but doesn't. There's another at least $200 unless you buy used or deal off offer up, Amazon, ect. The most annoying thing for me is that the new Surface 7 price dropped to the same price I paid for this 6 several days after my return window. At first this was maddening, but I do appreciate the one I have and am fortunate to have one and it is a badass product. it does not feel dated or anything and there might not be much differences in the 7, I of course just wanted to have the newest model of it is the same price, anyone would. It is another level in comparison to other laptops at the same price range really. It blows them out of the water. Even compatible (by price) tablets. It def stands above other laptops as well.

It took me MONTHS of research before I finally decided to settle for the Microsoft surface. I initially bought the Surface Laptop yet I had to replace it with the Pro because I figured I needed the flexibility of the Pro that the Laptop does not have in terms of adjusting the screen and using the pen. Although I honestly loved the laptop as well. Anyway, this 2-in-1 laptop is simply worth every single penny that I spent. It is fast, super easy to use, and very powerful! And did I mention how light it is to carry? Keeping this would be one of the best decisions I have made for the year 2018! Btw, I am aware that a lot are complaining because of the absence of the USB-C ports. Yet, until now I never reall found the need to use it and never became an issue for me.

Bought this to replace a basic HP Pavilion with a failing HDD. The HP was a 17” screen model which by virtue of its location and use case required a cooling plate and external USB mouse- basically a laptop impersonating a desktop. Decided to try something faster with a smaller form factor this time. Serious performance improvement over the HP which is admittedly several years old and was upgraded from Win7 up to Win10. The Surface with its SSDD and by virtue of being basically built for Win10 made for an instantly improved, majorly snappy performance right out of the box. Screen resolution is top notch and touch screen very responsive. Accessory type cover keyboard and trackpad are similarly excellent. I really hadn’t given the form factor of this PC much consideration UNTIL I wound up blowing out my knee and being stuck on the couch for an extended period of time. Whereas the Pavilion would have been basically impossible to use in my condition the Surface was a treat to use and fit right into my propped-up, immobilized body....so my co-workers wound up benefiting from this purchase as well! I’m an Apple user for everything but The laptop from way back and seriously considered going the macbook route this time around but am glad I went with the Surface. The user experience on this machine just is “well-sorted”.

I have wanted the Surface since it came out a few years ago. I needed something small, portable and powerful and the Surface Pro 6 fits the bill. A REAL computer in a tablet sized format. Not a replacement, obviously, for a desktop and 2 large screens but, It's nice that I can easily take everything with me thanks to OneDrive and seamlessly make changes if necessary.

I’ve been looking at this laptop for a couple of years now. I don’t regret at all buying it. It’s worth the money and it fast. Yes memory is low but that’s why u can add to it. The pen works great. The keyboard I have noticed I can type faster than the one on my PC. I only have 1 con and that I wish it a a hdmi port. But hey I can live without it. Great Laptop.

Purchased this as an upgrade for my wife's Surface 2 that was still running Windows 8. She is very pleased with the new computer and says it is much faster. I found the setup to be very easy and everything worked well. Once the new computer was up and running, I was able to transfer all of her previous documents and pictures with a simple USB Stick. There have been no issues with OS upgrades that are running in the background. She had been having issues with the old computer taking excessively long times to load web pages, and the browser simply stopping. An upgrade might have helped, but the issues are gone with the new computer. She was able to slowly transition from the old to the new computer which allowed her to slowly become familiar with Windows 10 rather than needing to make a quick switch with no option to fall back to the previous computer. It has now been over a month, and she has fully switched to the new computer. Says it was her best Christmas present this year.
